Chapter 34 - A Night Full of Secrets: Part 1
A week has passed after the unexpected visit from Ace. During this, I noticed that Kaden and I are pretty much inseparable nowadays. Either I would visit him or we would meet up for lunch in the city, but we didn’t go a day without seeing each other.
Kaden had also told me about a mind link we have together, where we can have conversations in our minds. I freaked out at first when he talked in my head, it felt incredibly weird but I grew used to it the more I did it. I also discovered that werewolves can talk to each other using the mind link.
Before leaving the De Leon house that day, Natalie had given me two large books containing information specifically on werewolves. Since I am a part of their world now, she said it was only right that I know their history.
I have been reading it whenever I could find time in the day, especially before bed as something to lull me to sleep.
One of the chapters that caught my interest was about the bond between mates. It was freakishly accurate on how I was experiencing everything the book was describing. Whenever Kaden is near, my heart will start to race and my palms will turn sweaty. One simple look from those pools of ocean blue can have me flustered and his touch can calm me like no-one else could. I felt content just being in his arms, safe from the world.
I snap out of my thoughts when someone nudges me. Looking to my left, I smile sheepishly at the boy who is holding out a stack of pages. Taking a stapled set of pages, I turn and pass the stack to the row behind me. We are in a smaller classroom with around thirty students in each instead of a lecture hall.
As the tutorial continues, I focus on the exam style questions we are practicing on. But because there is a window next to me providing me with a view of the lake and trees, my mind is more interested in daydreaming about random things. I sigh and grab a blue pen, taking down the notes that are written on the whiteboard.
My phone vibrates during the middle of class, making me hastily pull it out of my coat pocket. I open my messages to see a text from Kaden, a smile pulling at the corners of my lips.
Kaden: When are you free today?
Luna: I finish class around four today. Why?
Kaden: Come over.
My brows rise at how demanding he is being. Rolling my eyes, I huff before typing back a quick message.
Luna: Try again.
I put down my phone, a smirk playing on my lips because I know he will realize what I mean. Often, Kaden’s demanding nature will slip through in our conversations, whether it’s texting or face to face. I found out, by reading the books, that Alphas and Betas are naturally dominant, intimidating and demanding creatures because of their position of authority.
Let’s just say I made it very clear to Kaden that I’m not a fan of his demanding side.
There were ten minutes left until this tutorial ended when I received his text. I bite my lip hard to stifle the laughter threatening to escape, it took him long enough.
Kaden: Fine...will you please come over today, Luna?
Luna: Who’s a good boy?
His reply is instant. I can literally imagine him growling furiously.
Kaden: You are in so much trouble when I get my hands on you!
Luna: I’ll see you at five, bye!
I put my phone down, a cheeky grin on my face as I flip to the next page of questions. His little threat didn’t even scare me as much, I know he won’t do anything. Kaden is like an adorable puppy if I play my cards right.
The class ends at exactly one fifty in the afternoon and I quickly pack my bag before rushing out the door. I have ten minutes to get to my next class and I hate Thursdays because this tutorial is always held at the other side of main campus.
My face feels warm and I’m pretty sure my cheeks are red as I make my way down the stairs of the lecture hall. I take a few sips of my water before relaxing, playfully glaring at Maddox and Eva as they chuckle at my flustered expression. The lecturer walks in shortly and starts the two-hour class. I’m counting down the minutes until I can get out of here. I never did like double lectures.
“Do you need a ride to Kaden’s?” Maddox asks, twirling his keys as Eva turns to look at me. “I’m heading that way anyways.”
“If you don’t mind?”
“Hop in.” He grins, opening the door for me.
I smile gratefully, taking a seat in the back. I had decided to walk to college today so my bike is at home. Maddox starts the car and reverses out of the parking space, driving past the large iron gates before turning onto the main road.
We drop Eva off at the house first before continuing towards Kaden’s home. I text him to let him know that I am on my way as we drive through the countryside. Maddox follows my directions and soon, we arrive at the familiar tree line.
“Um...are you sure we’re at the right place Luna?” He frowns, leaning forward and looking around the place.
I chuckle and nod, getting out of the car with him following suit. “It’s past the tree line.”
We walk up to the tree line and I step through the familiar gap, beckoning Maddox to follow. His jaw drops as he stares at the house before grinning.
“This is awesome!” He breathes, turning to me.
“Kaden and a few friends of his built it.” I explain, my fingertips running across the petals of a rose blooming in his garden.
“Wow, that’s impressive.” He nods, before glancing down at his watch. “Crap, I’ve got to run. I’ll see you later okay?”
“Okay, thanks for the lift!” I smile, watching him wave before going back through the gap.
As I walk up the path to Kaden’s house, I hear the engine of Maddox’s car start before he drives away, leaving me with the sounds of nature. I ring the bell, hearing it echo inside the house. A few seconds pass and I try again, frowning when nobody answers the door.
Sighing, I rummage through my bag in search of my keys and just as my hand wraps around them, I hear a door squeak open and a male voice curse which makes me move to the left. He freezes mid step, one of the double doors of the patio half open. I wiggle my fingers in a wave, my eyes narrowing suspiciously when he stands straighter and clears his throat.
“Luna, hey.” He collects himself, sending me a confident smile.
“Hi,” I walk up to him, my arms wrapping around his waist in an embrace. “Why are you sneaking in to your own home?”
“I was just out on a run.” He chuckles, playing with a loose curl of my hair.
“In jeans and converses?” I arch a brow, my eyes flickering to his shoes that has spots of dirt here and there.
“I-I was in wolf form.” He looks away, making me scoff and back out of his hold.
“You are such a bad liar. It’s not a full moon yet.”
I sense him following me into the house, standing by the wall with his arms crossed as I take a seat on the couch. I stare at him expectantly, wanting him to explain but he remains quiet. I huff in annoyance, a pout on my lips as I look away.
“Fine, don’t tell me.”
“Angel,” He sighs heavily, coming to take a seat beside me before pulling me onto his lap. I cross my arms so I’m not tempted to touch him, glaring at him when he chuckles. “You’re cute when you’re mad – ow!”
He moans dramatically, resting his head back on the cushion of the couch as he clutches his arm and acts like I have caused him so much pain. I roll my eyes, not offering my sympathy. Kaden is such a drama queen sometimes. I watch as he peeks from one eye before grinning boyishly at my bemused expression. His features soften and he pulls my arms away from my body, resting his forehead on my shoulder.
“I was stressed about the Ace situation so I took a walk to clear my head.” He mumbles against my skin, a quiet gasp escaping me when his lips meet the heated skin of my mark. “I’m sorry that I lied to you.”
“Kaden,” I murmur gently, cupping his face in both hands. “Don’t worry so much. The De Leon’s are taking care of it, aren’t they?”
“Yes, but -”
“But nothing. Ace won’t get away with this.” I reassure him, stunning blues meeting my warm browns.
He sighs lowly and nods, resting his forehead against my own. “Okay.”
“Good.” I peck his lips, getting off his lap and standing. “Now, what – Kaden!”
My shriek echoes in the quiet, open space when he uses his speed to wrap my legs around his waist and press me up against the wall. Kaden’s eyes are dark and swirling with gold which makes me gulp in anticipation, clenching my things together. I immediately regret doing that when he growls lustfully, rocking his hips against my own.
A moan escapes my lips at the sensation that courses through me, my eyes widening at loudness of the sound. Kaden’s eyes meet mine and he smirks devilishly, the back of his hand caressing my heated cheeks. Ever since we became a fully mated couple, Kaden has become more affectionate, thus the sudden change in emotion.
“K-Kaden...what a-are you doing?” I stammer, unable to form a coherent sentence because his lips on my skin are distracting me.
“Hmm, don’t you remember me saying that you’re in trouble?” He whispers in my ear, carrying me up the stairs.
Oh crap. I think to myself before struggling in his hold. Kaden chuckles at my futile attempts to escape, closing the bedroom door behind him before he lays me down on his bed.
“Kaden...it was just a joke.” I explain, scooting back on the bed as he crawls towards me.
I yelp in surprise when he pulls me forward by my ankle so that I am pinned underneath him. There’s an unknown emotion in his eyes as he gazes at me and I am now a nervous mess.
“Will the punishment be bad?” I whisper, biting my lip in worry as I glance up at him.
The corner of his lips quirk but it’s so quick that I think I have imagined it. He stands on the carpet, crossing his arms in an intimidating manner that I dislike because I always feel so small compared to him.
“Depends on what your definition of bad is?”
“Like...making me your servant for a week, or cleaning your dirty, stinky socks and stuff.” I mumble, staring at him in confusion when he laughs.
“Darling, you have so much to learn.” He murmurs gently, blue eyes darkening considerably as he stares at my lips.
I shuffle nervously, looking away because his intense stare is too much to handle for my awkward self. Although we have been intimate, I’m still not that confident around him.
He takes hold of my wrists before pulling me up into a sitting position. “What do you mean? What do I have to learn?”
“Sometimes, punishments can be very...pleasurable, amica mea.” His voice is husky and deep when he leans down and speaks in my ear. (My love.)
“O-Oh...” I reply hoarsely, my mouth becoming dry and my cheeks feeling like they are on fire.
He dips down and a surprised gasp escapes me at the sudden action. I suppress a content sigh when his lips brush against my own, causing tingles to dance on my skin in pure delight.
“Kaden...” I whimper longingly, my hand disappearing into his luscious dark hair.
“Hmm?” He hums, pressing kisses on my cheek before nipping my mark.
Before I can even respond, he pushes me down gently and hovers above my body. Our eyes are caught in an intense staring contest as he intertwines his hand with mine. He is the first one to break it, his gaze moving down to my lips. I watch with awe as specks of gold flicker in his irises, marveling at the breath-taking combination.
And then he is kissing me, it happens so fast that I freeze and forget to move my lips against his. I can feel him smile against my lips while his hand curls around my waist and pull me closer so that I’m practically flush against his body.
There is something about Kaden, something about how easily I can slip into a comfortable state around him. So, when he pulls me close, it doesn’t take long for me to relax and give in. My body melts against his, embracing how wonderful he makes me feel.
I move my lips against his, hearing a low groan sound from him. As soon as I respond, he picks me up so that I now straddle his waist. I grip on to his shoulders tighter at the abrupt action, before relaxing and winding my arms around his neck.
He coaxes my lips before biting down on my bottom lip and pulling slightly. Automatically, I open and let him explore my mouth as I do the same.
Sadly, the need for air becomes a matter of priority and we soon pull away, panting lightly. Kaden tucks away a strand of my hair behind my ear just to caress the back of his hand against my cheek. My eyes close of their own accord and I find myself leaning into his touch, unintentionally nuzzling my cheek against his hand as he cupped my face.
Suddenly realizing what I’m doing, my eyes snap open and a fiery blush graces my cheeks. I look away shyly, avoiding his burning gaze. It’s quiet for a few seconds before Kaden curses and stands on his knees, hovering over my body. He presses his lips to mine softly, cupping my face with both hands before nibbling on my bottom lip.
I fist his sweater in my hands, holding onto him tightly as he peppers feather-light kisses on my every inch of my face. He inhales deeply and I open my eyes to see his soft and relaxed features and I feel joyful knowing I’m the cause of it.
I cup his cheek and trace the stubbled skin, making his eyes open and stare down at me with such intense emotion, it has me squirming under his gaze. His plump lips are now swollen and red making me blush as I stare at them.
His kisses are so addictive, it’s like I’m sinning every time my lips meet his. As if they are some drug I have become dependent on and can’t go a day without.
“Like what you see, my little Luna?” Kaden chuckles, staring down at me with a knowing look.
“Yes.” I murmur absentmindedly before groaning when Kaden smirks wickedly, his ego just got a big boost.
He starts crawling towards me, making my eyes widen at how predatory he looks right now. The look in his eyes is dangerously wild and it scares me yet arouses me at the same time. I bite my lip and scoot back, until my back hits the headboard and I can feel the pillows underneath my hands.
“K-Kaden, what a-are you - ah!” A scream escapes me as he all but pounces on me and pulls me underneath him, his body hovering above mine.
His eyes scan over my flushed features, as if committing everything to memory and I find myself biting my lip nervously. At that action, his eyes darken like a storm rolling in and promising danger. In Kaden’s case, it’s the kind of danger that makes you feel alive.
“So,” He murmurs lowly, holding himself up with both arms beside my head. “Does my little mate want more?”
I blush before nodding, my fingers playing with the hem of his khaki t-shirt absentmindedly. It’s only when I notice him staring down at my actions with an amused smirk that I groan, pulling my hands away as if they caught fire before covering my face in embarrassment.
He chuckles and grabs my right hand, kissing the top of my knuckles gently. “You are so adorable.”
He dips down and kisses my cheek, lingering so that his masculine cologne of pine and mint engulfs my senses. I pout when he pulls away because I was expecting him to kiss me once more.
“Kaden...kiss, please?” I mumble, tangling my hand in his midnight hair and pulling him closer.
He chuckles and shakes his head in response. “I think that’s enough for tonight, sweetheart.”
“But I want more.” I whisper, frowning at how needy I’m being suddenly.
“I won’t be able to stop if we continue, baby.” He shoots me a knowing look before getting off the bed. “And besides, I have a surprise for you.” He smiles, making me perk up in excitement.
“What is it?” I grin, hopping off the bed and following him as he makes his way towards the door.
“Come, let’s go for a walk.” He grabs my hand, chuckling quietly at my lost expression.
