Chapter Psycho logic
Meanwhile [Cntd.]
Liam, Theo and Brian went back to his private office, to discuss the findings from one of the patrol teams. Unfortunately, they came back empty handed.
Security around the areas were apparently stricter than at the previous camp. It’s almost like Dahlia knows they’re spying on her. But they couldn’t go further and risk being caught.
Now the three of them are discussing more tactics for the fight tomorrow, should it really happen. Liam still has no idea how they are going to find out where to attack, especially now that the patrol teams came back empty handed. They were his last resort.
But the silence in the office is broken with a ringing. They all look around, checking their phones, but it’s none of theirs. But Liam already rushes to his desk, to the phone lying on it, -the burner phone he was hoping to get a message from Dahlia.
It’s a private number, but he knows there’s only one way to be sure. So he answers it.
“Hello.”
But there’s a brief silence, before the breathing on the other end stops.
“Did you miss me Liam?” Dahlia says with a seductive tone.
His reaction tells Theo and Brian that the female voice on the line is probably Dahlia’s. But Liam none the less puts the phone on speaker, wanting them to hear properly.
“Why are you doing all of this? What are you trying to prove by going against us wolves?”
She chuckles, and quite loudly. She’s obviously enjoying this.
“Oh Liam. You still don’t know. That actually breaks my heart a bit. I thought you knew me best of all.”
“Cut the crap Dahlia. It’s been ten years, and now all of a sudden, you pop up. What have you been planning? Are you really trying to wipe out wolves, or is this about me?”
Liam can see Brian’s curious look. He obviously is not fully aware of the past Liam shares with Dahlia.
“It’s both. You made a promise and you broke it. So what better way to hurt you than with your own kind.”
Brian mind-links the other alphas to join and listen in on the call, He knows they also need to hear this.
“What promise? Is all of this because of a promise? We were kids Dahlia. Are you seriously telling me you resort to killing, because of a so-called promise?”
The other alphas are all walking in quietly, careful to not alert Dahlia of their presence in the room. They all take a seat on one of the couches, as Liam sits behind his desk with the phone still on speaker.
“You hurt me Liam.” She sounds sad as she breathes deeply.
But this is annoying Liam’s wolf. This woman has hurt a whole lot of other people and she still thinks that she has a right to feel hurt.
“You killed my mate.” The alphas look up, confused with this knowledge.
“It was an accident!!” She shouts. “I didn’t mean for it to happen. I didn’t even know that she was your mate. But I still came to you, to ask for help. You were the only one I could trust. I was going to tell you everything. That it was my first time trying the spell out. I didn’t know what would happen, just like I didn’t know I would mark myself with her scent. But you,…….you tricked me. Just so that you could torture me. And you even enjoyed it, didn’t you?”
This information is confusing Liam though. Can he trust her? But this is the closest he’ll get to answers.
“I did that because of everything you did. First you tried to get in between my parents, and then you got between me and my mate. You were clearly up to something, and it wasn’t good.”
She sighs. “I had no-one. No family to care for me, no one to teach me the craft and everybody just shunned me because of what I was. And you knew all of that. And you decided to be there for me. You were the one that promised me, that doesn’t matter if your life turns to shit or if you end up mate-less, you’d always have me, you’d always have your Dahlia. That’s what you always told me. But the moment some faceless mate comes into the picture, you drop our friendship in a heartbeat and prefer to torture me because of some girl you haven’t even met. Doesn’t that make you the dick in the picture? Huh?”
“You can’t play innocent in this Dahlia. Why were you messing with dark-magic to begin with? That’s how this started in the first place. That’s why you were interested in wolves, right? That’s why you got close to my family. And that’s how you got Emily killed.”
“So you’re going to sue me for my curiosity? I just did what many were too afraid to try. I just wanted to prove myself.”
“And it got someone killed.”
“Oh please. She wasn’t even worth it if you ask me.”
Liam growls in the phone warning her.
“What? I found her drunk out of her mind with some random guy down her throat at your party. I didn’t even need to trick her to come with me. She was more than willing to take part in my spell. Something about witch magic that always gives her a high. But when you told me that she was your mate, I was ecstatic. Because I knew you’d be mate-less now. I just needed to escape and find a way to remind you of your promise to me. That you’d always have me, your Dahlia.”
“Are you out of your mind. Why would I even…..”
“That’s why I needed to get stronger. After my spell that night, I knew there was more to it, far more. That’s what I’ve been doing all this time. I needed to get stronger, to get my own army, my own pack, and enough power to make me a Luna.”
All alphas start looking at each other. They know this may be it. This may be what she’s been trying to do with Luna blood.
“None of that will make me want you. You’ve done too much already. Others will come after you. I will come after you.”
“Not if I kill your mate.”
Gggrrrrhhhh! “Don’t you dare touch her!”
“But that’s just it. Don’t you see. That bitch of a goddess had the nerve to give you a second chance mate. If I get her power, I can just make me your Luna.”
“That won’t work. It will never work. Even by some curse in this world, if that should happen, I will reject you without a second thought.”
“That’s what you think. Even you told me, that a wolf can’t ignore the pull. So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see...... Till tomorrow then.”
“Tomorrow?” Everyone in the room is confused with how this woman knows this.
“Yes. My see-er told me as much. Though she can’t exactly make out if we will indeed see each other. Which means you still don’t know where I am.” She laughs. “But you better hurry, because I will perform the spell tomorrow on the full moon. Let’s see if you’d make it in time to save your precious mate. But if not, I’ll make sure you feel her pain as painfully as possible. And you can blame her for that. She really is annoying. She actually got me doubting myself for a second. But a quick slap to the face was enough to shut her up.”
Gggrrhhh!
“Oh calm down. I’m not gonna hurt her. Not yet. I need her in top shape for tomorrow. So rest easy knowing that at least. Bye.”
The beep of the phone puts the room in a brief silence again.
“What – the – fuck - Liam?” Brian chirps in. “So this is way more personal than what it actually is?”
“So we’re here, not just because she kidnapped your mate, -your second chance mate, but because she also killed your first mate. And now she’s building an army, all to impress you.” John tried to put the puzzle pieces together.
“Did you not see the psycho tendencies?” Sam asks curtly.
Liam sighs. “Of course I did. That’s why I tried to get rid of her. My father even brought the witch council in to deal with her. But she just disappeared then. But I knew that if I heard from her again, she would come after me.”
“Fuck!” Brian stands up. “I guess I better get an early night in, if we’re gonna fight tomorrow.”
One by one the alphas and Theo leave Liam alone in his office. He’s getting anxious, knowing the fight will need to happen tomorrow. He needs to find Mira by then. He sits on the couch and stares at the map on the wall. He needs to figure out a way to get this done.
