Chapter Cunning or Oblivious?
Noah’s POV
What the fuck just happened?
When I woke up this morning Aiden came to me to report something suspicious to me. Liam was still sleeping, so he said he’d tell me.
When he told me about the medical room being found open, it got me thinking a bit. Aiden never leaves it unlocked. But then he said she was there. What would she possibly be doing there at that time at night? She was doing something. She must be the mole.
I don’t believe her excuse to Aiden. The way that she has been getting close to everyone, I just knew it would be a matter of time before she makes them question their own concerns.
I rushed downstairs looking for her to confront her, and passed Mason on the way. I don’t know what he was saying, I was just too angry and focused on my task at hand, I continued on.
I storm into the library eventually finding her there.
“You! It’s you isn’t it?” I shout pointing to her. She must know what I’m talking about. I don’t buy that lost look she has on her face.
“What do you mean?”
Oh, but she’s good.
“Don’t try to play games.”
But she continues with her attempt to be innocent. She stands and says, “What are you talking about?”
I guess I’ll just have to be direct. “What were you doing sneaking around the infirmary at odd hours at night?”
I can see her looking at Aiden expectantly. She was probably hoping for him to help her out of this. “I already told Aiden.”
“You really expect me to believe that? That’s the oldest trick in the book.”
I see something in her eyes, it’s like realization mixed with confusion. What is that supposed to mean? Shit this is pissing me off even more. I can feel my wolf pushing through.
Her lack of an answer is more than enough for me.
I walk closer to her. “You might have everyone else fooled,” I growl as I say, “But I’m not an idiot.”
I feel hands on my shoulders pulling me back. “Calm down Noah.” It sounds like Aiden and Noah.
Shit! This probably means that my wolf is pushing real hard. If I don’t stop, I might just hurt someone, I might just hurt her.
But looking up I see her smirk. “Could’ve fooled me.”
I can feel my wolf claw at me from the inside as I release I deep growl.
But she continues. She’s not even phased by my wolf’s aura, its authority. How?
“You think I’m afraid of you? Your little wolf temper is nothing but cute.”
My wolf is feeling challenged. No one has looked at me like that and survived. I can hear someone saying something about telling one of us to stop. But I just want her to come at me, so my wolf can show her who has more authority. But she keeps on challenging me. She’s even trying to really come at me.
Aiden is now trying to pull her away from me. But she yanks her arm so hard she actually throws Aiden across the room and against the couch in the far side of the room.
What the fuck?
She’s still trying to come at me and now Mason is in between us, keeping us from each other. That’s when I hear the sound of crushing glass, and I see that she crushed the glass in her hand, which it’s now bleeding.
I don’t want to touch Mason, knowing that if he’s gone, my wolf will hurt this woman. But she pushes Mason aside like he weighs nothing and comes at me again.
This stubborn woman is going to get her own blood spilled.
But that’s when I hear the loud commanding voice of my Alpha in the room.
“Enough!”
My wolf immediately reels himself in knowing it’s best to not go against our Alpha’s orders.
Liam makes his way to us, and the moment I see his wolf’s gaze through his eyes looking at me, I look down, trying not to let him think that I’m challenging him if I look directly.
But that’s when I notice from the corner of my eye, that Liam has turned his challenging gaze to her, but she isn’t submitting.
How?
I can hear Liam’s wolf growl at this, but she just huffs at this. How dare she be that disrespectful to our Alpha? I can sense Liam’s anger radiating next to me.
That’s when I hear a softer voice speaking, “Mira, please. Stand down.” It’s Aiden.
I’m annoyed that he would consider having to ask her to do that. He should challenge her. She’s just a dormant wolf. I think it’s time we show her what wolves are capable of. For someone with a dormant wolf, she is too challenging.
It’s only when she looks away from Liam and towards Aiden, that she seems to start calming down.
Once her breathing sounds levelled, she looks back at Liam and me, saying in a firm voice, “Be careful of pushing someone in a corner who has nothing to lose.”
What the f….? That was clearly a threat. This girl is clearly dangerous.
Aiden lifts up her bleeding hand and she looks at it a bit shocked. Did she not realize she did that? How could she not have felt that?
But she instantly pulls her hand away from Aiden and rushes out of the room.
Like I said. What the fuck just happened?
