Chapter CHAPTER 253
Chapter 0253
My days had gotten a little better,
Gray mentioned that several well known lawyers had recently disappeared from the legal scene. He counted them off on his fingers, each one of them those who had been careless with their words at that party not too long ago.
As he cast a curious gaze on me, he asked, “What did you do to them?”
I shook my head. Though I remembered every single one of their faces, 1 didn’t have the power to do anything to them.
He tilted his chin upwards and asked again, “You and that man. Did you two really get divorced?”
I nodded. Could a divorce be faked?
“Then why is he helping you get revenge?”
I shivered and commented, “You’re really barking up the wrong tree!”
Nicholas wasn’t helping me get revenge. He was taking his anger out on me!
I had thought that by staying out of the firm’s business and keeping to myself online, he would stop targeting the law firm.
But Yasmine told me that Jassy Associated hadn’t stopped. In fact, they’d only intensified their efforts. Some of the cases we had started preparing at the firm were even being poached.
Lawyers from Jassy Associates would privately contact our clients and try to get them to withdraw their cases by offering them discounted services.
As a result, we lost quite a few cases at the beginning because we hadn’t been prepared for it.
They really had no shame. They were stealing food from someone else’s bowl and practically begging for scraps!
I gritted my teeth and told Yasmine to turn a blind eye while I secretly hired some actors. Thanks to the situation, the task I had entrusted Gray with had
a high success rate.
Jassy Associates was a newly established law firm, and with Nicholas backing, it had gamered a lot of attention both within and outside the industry. Reputation was extremely important to them.
But in any case, lawyers were still human, and no human had a perfect winning record. I asked Gray to contact Jassy Associates lawyers and have them ‘accidentally lose a case from time to time
The first ones to be targeted were the cases they had poached from us. I would never interfere with real cases. The ones they lost were all staged with the actors we hired.
One person losing a case might not draw much attention, but what if every lawyer at Jassy Associates started losing a case?
Losing a case wouldn’t ruin a lawyer’s reputation. They would still get paid. so it was easy to turn them against the company.
If someone had a bit more foresight, they’d realize it wouldn’t be long before Jassy Associates‘ reputation was completely destroyed, and they’d be facing unemployment.
Gray teased, “Are you trying to wipe out Jassy Associates entirely?”
I didn’t think much of it. I replied, “It’s just normal business competition!” After all, they loved to steal.
Recently, I had been sharing legal knowledge online, and it was gaining some traction. After Zachary left the entertainment industry, his fans had nothing else to turn to. So, they left comments under my posts and asked me to start live streaming to give them a place to gather.
I had nothing better to do, so I went along with anything that could benefit Jay Caldwell & Co.
A few days later, Jasmine also started live streaming. Her streams showcased the luxurious homes and cars Nicholas had bought for her, a lifestyle far beyond the reach of ordinary people, and it quickly gained popularity.
Meanwhile, my live streams were mostly supported by Zachary’s fans. Despite our past relationships, they didn’t hate me anymore. Instead, they channeled their feelings for him into supporting me.
They said that seeing me reminded them of the days when they had fought fiercely for Zachary.
My apartment was nicely decorated, but compared to Jasmine’s mansion, it seemed rather modest. The fans were upset, questioning why I had ended up with nothing after four years with Nicholas, while Jasmine had a house, cars, and maids to wait on her.
I hesitated. After being apart for so long, it felt like a dream whenever I thought back to my time with him.
The memories sometimes made my heart ache, but it was a distant, unreal pain, so much so that I wasn’t sure if I was really hurting.
Even with Jasmine flaunting her wealth so brazenly in front of me, it didn’t really bother me. I couldn’t‘ answer their questions because I didn’t know the answer myself.
But one day, Nicholas happened to appear in Jasmine’s livestream and answered that question for the viewers…
