Chapter 17 – The Sun and the Star
The school regulations for 28 Middle are very bothersome. If you dare to be late to your first class you won’t be allowed into the school.
The guard hid inside his office and innocently shrugged.
Under these circumstances, many students would just wait at an internet cafe and some would just skip school for the whole day.
But I can’t play hooky with Xiao Qin.
Especially since Xiao Qin has an expression of wanting to elope.
I banged on the glass of the guard’s reception office.
“Bam Bam Bam”
The guard opened up a small window and awkwardly said: “Sorry, I just got this job not too long ago with great difficulty. Can you endure for just 1 period?”
I made an even more awkward expression and said: “I’m fine but this classmate has a weak body!” I pointed to Xiao Qin who had her head lowered and wasn’t speaking.
Because the guard was also very young, it seemed like Xiao Qin was scared to talk to him.
The guard stuck his head out of the small window and surveyed Xiao Qin from head to toe. Xiao Qin curled up her posture even more after being stared at by a male for a long period of time.
“If it’s like this...” the guard said indecisively.
“It’s so cold in the mornings, and if she gets sick her parents will come to the school!” I continued to scare him.
“It’s also not that big of a deal to let us in, your uncle did that often. If you let students roam outside and they get hit by a car, the school will bear the responsibility!”
I didn’t lie, a similar incident has taken place before.
The guard was finally convinced by me, scratched his head and let us in through the automatic doors.
I thanked him and Xiao Qin followed along nervously.
Even if the guard let us in, he wouldn’t get in trouble. Just because we were able to go through the main entrance, there will still be people blockading the entrance to the school building, not allowing you to go in and disturb the first class.
Sure enough, Zhi Zhou teacher was waiting in front of the school building and obstructed us. After recording our names and class we were forced to stand on the track as punishment. Although they say you have to stand as punishment, you can really do whatever you want. You can jog, you can also recite words. People who like exercise will run laps. Some braver souls will even just straight up lie down and go to sleep in front of the school building.
The only ones being punished today was me and Xiao Qin, how boring. It would be nice if there was a basketball.
To be honest its seriously cold today morning.
“Xiao Qin, didn’t you set up that scenario that your body was weak since childhood? If you go plead with Zhi Zhou teacher, he might let you in, then you can wait in the nurse’s office.”
Xiao Qin looked up at me.
“By the way, this teacher’s family name is Song. Although he’s old-fashioned, he’s not unreasonable. If you beg him, he should let you in.”
Xiao Qin revealed a very appreciative expression.
“No, I want to stand together with Ye Lin classmate.”
I can’t help it. After standing for a while, the backpack starts to feel heavy.
Xiao Qin took out a few towels, laid them out on the cement and placed her Hello Kitty backpack on it.
“Ahhh~my back is so sore! This feels much better!” she said as she stretched her back.
“Ye Lin classmate, why don’t you place your bag on as well? You can place your bag on top of mine. Ye Lin classmate likes to be on top, right?” she laughed while harboring malicious intent.
I ignored her and stuck my hands in my pockets.
As long as I ignore Xiao Qin, she should stop bothering me, right?
This way I would feel less guilty compared to using violence and bullying her. I just don’t know the effectiveness of doing this.
Xiao Qin really can’t handle the cold. In order to warm her body, she started to exercise on the track. Not those professional athletic exercises, but a very girly bouncing exercise. In the end, she started jumping around me.
“Haha ~ Ye Lin classmate is the sun~ and I’m the star that revolves around him ~” Xiao Qin got carried away and started singing a weird song using a tune from a cartoon.
Do you not have any knowledge of astronomy?
“Hey, the star and the sun are fixed stars! They can’t revolve around each other!” (Unless it’s a double star, but I guess she wouldn’t understand either way.)
“But, but, wouldn’t it be too conceited of me to say that I’m the moon?”
“What?”
“Compared to Ye Lin classmate, I’m only a small star in the sky. Even if the sun won’t shine on me, I’m perfectly satisfied with just being able to see the sun every day.”
When Xiao Qin said this, although she was laughing, there was a disconsolate glint in her eyes. As if she really gazed at me from some far place before.
Why did I feel somewhat touched?
But your understanding of common physics is too crappy! A lot of the small stars you see that are far away are in actuality hundreds of times larger than the sun!
Compared to the moon, aren’t stars more similar to the sun?
Zhi Zhou teacher wrinkled his brows and was looking at us through the glass of the doors. Although he couldn’t hear us talking, just by seeing Xiao Qin’s happy expression while revolving around me, he can probably guess our relationship.
Ah, he wrote something on the late register. It’s probably because we violated the “Prohibit guys and girls interacting with impure intentions rule” so he’s probably deducting points for our class.
Though, what does the class’s reputation have to do with me? My classmates don’t even like me, probably only Shu Sha would care about this.
We were only able to enter the school building after the first period finished at 8:50. contemporary romance
As class 3 was getting ready for the first break, they saw Xiao Qin and me entering together with our backpacks, so they knew that we were late.
Loud Mouth walked up with a swoosh and hit me on the arm.
“Aren’t you two embarrassed? You got all lovey-dovey and forgot the time!”
It hurts, it hurts even more than punches from those hoodlums, why don’t you go do judo!
Class leader Shu Sha saw Xiao Qin follow me closely and didn’t seem too happy because of Loud Mouth’s joke.
It’s good that the first couple of classes went by safe and sound.
I thought that Xiao Qin would continuously harass me like yesterday and was thinking of a countermeasure. Surprisingly, she spent most of her time paying attention in class. She was paying close attention in both English and math class.
When reading aloud during English class, her pronunciation was very accurate. If you closed your eyes and listened, her voice sounds like the pleasant echoes when spring water gently passes over the pebbles underwater.
She had a sour expression during math class.
What is it? Is there a subject you’re not good at? Do you have to bite your nails to think about something as easy as factorization?
Seeing me watch her bite her nails, she quickly put down her hands with a flushed face.
There’s only one more class until lunch break, it seems like Xiao Qin went with Loud Mouth and her friends to the washroom.
I sat at my spot and touched the H mangas in my bag. What the hell, why am I acting like I’m smuggling drugs.
“Ye Lin —” I don’t know when the class leader got behind me.
I was startled and subconsciously went to protect my bag.
Shu Sha didn’t seem to be concerned with my bag. She had one hand on her waist and coldly asked: “You two came late together...did the hotel that you two stayed at not have morning wake up service?”
After understanding why the class leader came over, I pushed my bag to the side, crossed my arms and slanted my eyes at her.
“Hey, hey, we’re all classmates here, but if you keep saying nonsense, be careful that I don’t report you for slander.”
It seems like the class leader was relieved.
“Hmph, I was just testing you, It seems like you really didn’t do anything to Xiao Qin classmate.”
“It seems like you really like to meddle in other people’s business!”
“As the class leader, it’s my responsibility to protect my classmates. I can’t let them receive an incurable scar as they’re maturing...”
“Eh, aren’t I also a classmate? Aren’t you afraid that I’ll also receive an incurable scar?” I pointed at myself to remind her.
“How can I think of you as a classmate!” Shu Sha raised her voice.
“I originally thought that you were just a student that didn’t like to study and went around picking fights. I didn’t think that you were someone that would have such disgusting desires towards the female classmates. If I was the principal, I would expel you immediately.”
“Tsk, save this kind of stuff for after you become principal! Also, Xiao Qin said that she liked me by herself. I have no desires for her!”
“Hmph, lies after lies...there’s definitely no girls that would take the initiative and like you. You must have used some sort of despicable means.”
I was angered by her confident tone and my fighting spirit was invigorated.
I put a leg up on the desk, leaned back, and made a hoodlum-like face.
“Ah? Even if I used some sort of despicable means, and even if I have disgusting desires for all the girls in this class, what are you going to do?”
After hearing me say that I had desires for all the girls in the class, the class leader was startled, took half a step back, and made a self-protecting action.
It was as if she was saying: “Does that include me too?”
She quickly calmed down and said with an unconceding tone: “I’m warning you, my ancestors were hunters.”
Eh? So what?
“My family has a hunting gun that is passed down.”
Shu Sha paused momentarily and said: “I’ll use it.”
Her unblinking eyes were like that of a beast, it definitely didn’t seem like she was lying.
I can’t believe she’s hiding a hunting gun! Aren’t you the extremists that will disrupt the peace of society? Hurry up and turn it over to the authorities! Do you want to copy the Americans and create mass school shootings? Are you going to kill the perverted student that is reaching out his devilish hand towards his female classmates? Are you willing to kill to implement your justice?
Under Shu Sha’s intense gaze, our atmospheres were violently clashing, creating small sparks and creating sharp ear-splitting sounds.
Justice Devil VS Metal-blooded Lone Wolf
There was a miraculous feeling of being evenly matched.
Within my imagination, although my red battle spirit was beneath her white battle spirit, mine was unyielding and advanced boldly. My red battle spirit flipped like a dragon and transformed into a sharp blade and repeatedly hit the defensive white battle spirit with unprecedented brutality. There were many times where the sturdy defensive wall was almost stabbed into pieces.
Shu Sha began to sweat from her forehead.
How about it? O’great class leader, you don’t have enough power, right?
As long as I put in some more force, you’ll bust right open!
“Ring, ring, ring~~”
The class bell interrupted our showdown and the class leader bitterly returned to her seat.
I placed both feet on the desk and had a mighty posture.
I just hope that Shu Sha doesn’t actually bring her hunting gun to get revenge.
