Chapter 460: The Search for the Maidens
They were going against an army of thousands if sodiers at their disposal. Elliot and the Adventurers were only a fraction of the number of people DuDu and Licht have, not to mention the ones Malice might send.
Elliot was teamed up with Connor, Kaminari, and Daniel as they try to look for Emma, the Ruby Maiden. The maiden's location was still unknown, but the Adventurers from below the mountain explored the island.
The island where the mountain that had the Ruby Maiden's chamber was had a small forest. There were traces of a giant bird's feathers in some of the trees which was odd because there weren't any other creatures in the island.
One Adventurer also found a red hair that was attached to the feather. This was even more odd than the feather. They traveled to the path where the feather was and it led them to a small piece of paper.
"Solfor Town, West." Was written on the paper. Zeus confirmed that this was the handwriting of the Rogue Maiden whom also gave them a piece of paper before.
"Are you sure about this?" Kaminari asked. "We're the only team that has less than five members."
"If all of us come to this town, then it would be dangerous," Elliot said. "We need to take care of our visibility, making sure to be as traceless as possible."
"But only four of us?" Connor asked. "This is too dangerous, don't you think?"
"No," Elliot said. "DuDu and Licht doesn't know about this town. They won't be there."
"Plus they would rather send their troops into securing the perimeters around the remaining location of the sleeping maidens," Daniel added. "I don't think they will care about a tiny town."
Kaminari and Connor only looked at each other and sighed, both of them had no other choice but to agree. After all, they were already close to the town of Solfor which where the paper was located.
It also seemed like the giant bird that was carrying the Ruby Maiden left traces of its feathers so the others could follow the path. Not to mention, it was traveling in a securely straight line, without even turning for a slight movement.
"We're almost there, I think," Elliot said as he picked the last feather. Ahead of them was a small town filled with stone houses. The roofs were made of grass while the windows were made of wood. "That's a very poor town."
"Yeah," Connor whispered back. They watched over the small group of houses, seeing how little people there are in those houses. There were only a few people around the small town, walking with little to no skin and meat.
"What happened here?" Daniel said to a woman who was walking by. Her eyes widened and she took a couple of steps back. "Ma'am?"
"Who are you?" the woman gasped. She raised her hands to try and defend herself, but Daniel gently placed his hands on her arms. His smile seemed to soothe down the woman's fear, making her calm down. "What are you doing here in our small town, sir?"
"We're here to look for a woman with red hair," Daniel said. "She was being carried by a bird and she's here based on the location said to us."
"A bird," the old woman hummed. "There was new woman that came here a while ago, but she only carried a small cage with a small bird inside."
"That's her," Daniel said. "Where is she?"
"Here, come with me," the woman led them to small hut at the edge of the town. "She's inside. Excuse me, I have to prepare dinner for my children."
The woman left the group with Daniel smiling and waving at her. This made Elliot look at him and smile, "What did you do?"
"I merely talked to her," Daniel said, but Elliot quirked his brow up, making Daniel chuckle. "Fine, I casted a soothing magic on her. Her blood was boiling, so I merely calmed it down."
"Oh," Allen pursed his lips. "Okay."
The small wooden hut was made of fragile materials. Well, it should be that way. But when Daniel tried to pry open the door that was made of twigs, he wasn't able to. It was even hard for him to even hold it.
"What happened?" Elliot asked. "Are you okay?"
"It's just hard," Daniel said. He narrowed his eyes and placed his hand on the center of the door. "Reveal yourself."
There was a cracking sound that came from the door. The cracks slowly formed in the air, exposing the forcefield that was protecting the house inside.
"So, this is what it looks like," Daniel smirked as a concrete house revealed itself. The house was fortified with steel and stone, as well as magic circles. "Mr. Elliot, show them the paper."
Elliot nodded and raised the paper in front of the house. This disabled the magic circles, stopping them from glowing. "That's it?"
"I guess so," Daniel said. They walked inside the house and was met by a pair of a pale red eyes. The woman raised her arms and fired a fireball at them.
"Oof," Connor blocked the fireball with a single finger. "This is cute. Are you the Ruby Maiden?"
"Yes, I am," the woman said. "Who are you?"contemporary romance
"The Eternal of Inferno, the Master of Lightning, and company," a familiar voice spoke. Elliot narrowed his eyes as two women walked out of the darkness behind Emma.
"You!" Elliot yelled, pointing at the tanned skinned woman whom he met before. "You're that woman with the crystal ball."
"Yes, I am," Esmeralda replied. "But I also do not know since my face had been copied by some woman who lives in a floating island."
"Lady Hao," Elliot, Connor, and Kaminari chorused.
"So, you know her?" Celine, the owner of the bird asked. "That woman is dangerous. If we let her be, she might copy everyone's faces and then turn everyone against each other."
"It's okay now," Elliot said. "She's our ally now. But who are you two?"
He brandished his sword and pointed it at them. "And what are you doing with the Ruby Maiden?"
