Logan’s breakdown was sudden and wild. He started by shouting and denying the truth, then descended into a full–blown frenzy at the Consul pack meeting. He threw documents to the floor and shoved away anyone who came near him.

“How can I fucking calm down? My Luna. Damn it. My mate died… How can I…” At that moment, everyone knew that their Alpha was too far gone. And even on the sidelines, I could feel his anger and frustration. I didn’t even know he was capable of feeling grief. I expected nothing from him after all. So what was this all about, Alpha? “Alpha… Your eyes are glowing and turning red! You have to control your emotions. You wolf will go into rampage!” Dimitri tried to keep him calm, and he tried so hard. until the very end, and finally, instead of doing more harm, Logan passed out.

When he woke up, he found himself in the pack’s infirmary, surrounded by the healers and his Beta. The medications had calmed him, but his thoughts were still foggy and confused.

Grabbing Dimitri’s shoulder beside the hospital bed, Logan blurted out, “Where’s my Luna? Why hasn’t she swung by with some food?”

Dimitri scratched his head, unsure how to respond. “Uh, your mate? She’s probably busy with something today….”

Logan’s eyes brightened with a smile. “Busy? Come on, she’s always around. I bet she’s just on her way. I’ll reach out to her through mindlink and tell her to hurry.” Dimitri tried to stop him, but Logan wouldn’t listen, He focused, trying to connect with me through our mindlink, even though I was gone. When no response came, reality began to sink in. Logan’s expression changed as he slowly started to grasp what was real and what wasn’t.

His face showed torment as he remembered the past few weeks. “S–She spoke to me. She used our mindlink, crying and desperate… asking me to come and save her.

Damn.”

He snapped back to reality the more he remembered everything that happened the

Dimitri, quick on the uptake, held Logan’s shaky hands. He knew he had to calm the Alpha down or else, his wolf would rampage for real this time.

Wide–eyed and frozen, the Alpha struggled to find his voice, tears cascading down his cheeks like a waterfall.

members of the Consul, but Logan bolted upright, barricading himself from their reach.

“Just let me die! Let me die!” He cried so hard, and it was the first time they saw their prominent Alpha shed tears and broke down,

“I killed my mate, I killed Aurora. She loved me so much and I just misunderstood her all this time!“.

His whole body shook, his eyes were turning red and they glowed, indicating how pained his wolf was deep inside. “And our pups, two pups!”

“I’m a monster. I’m a beast, lower than dirt, I’m…”

Meanwhile, I stood silently by Logan’s bed, watching him spiral into despair. His face was a mess of tears and sorrow, each drop mixed with the weight of his regrets. He was searching for answers, but all he found were memories that deepened his pain. The pack healers eventually managed to subdue him. They gently administered a medicinal wine to calm his nerves. Logan lay there, his body frail and his spirit shattered. The strong Alpha he once was seemed so far away now. He looked small and fragile, and the sight should have moved me, but I felt nothing. My heart was long gone, leaving only a hollow space inside me.

As Logan stared blankly at the ceiling, his voice broke through the silence. He turned to Dimitri, his words heavy with longing and determination. “You can’t stop me… I’m going to join my Luna… I need to apologize to her…”

I watched, a faint smile touching my lips, unseen by Logan. My Alpha, you don’t understand. I stopped needing your apologies a long time ago.
