Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Journal Entry

Today has been an interesting day. We left the service station behind, it was time to move on and look for other survivors. We swung by the docks at Bristol to see if my friends on the Annabelle were still there, but they are long gone. In a way, I am sad that I wasn’t able to see them one last time, but I’m happy that they have moved on to continue their search for survivors.

Anyway, the point of this entry is what we have just discovered. On a whim, Amanda suggested that we visit Bristol Zoo. I wasn’t too keen, I thought we wouldn’t find anything but dead animals. As it turns out, I was way wrong.

What we found was a whole bunch of monkeys swinging from the trees. What I mean is, we found a micro biologist. I call him The Doc, I think in winds him up, but it makes me smile every time I say it. His real name is Eric Stanton, and this name must be remembered because this is the man who has developed a cure. It has worked on the monkeys, and there is hope it will work with humans too. That’s the catch though, we need to capture a Screamer to test the cure. I’m not sure if we can achieve that without killing ourselves in the process. The Screamers are clever, they would sense a trap before they even got close. We have a plan to use an animal cage, I’m not overly confident, it’s risky, but it’s the best we can do.

If the cure works, it means we can somehow use it on all the Screamers, and gradually rebuild society. Here’s hoping.

So, like I said, it has been an interesting day. This could be the turning point of this whole disaster. It’s almost as if we were meant to come to the zoo. Like everything has been planned out, the people we meet, the places we go. Who knows? All I know is, we are close to ending the horror that has taken over the country and for all I know, maybe the whole world.

Hopefully I survive tomorrow and have more to report. If not… I don’t want to think about it… this could be my last entry.

Jason.
