Chapter 8: Saving The Wolves
Zale
“I swear, if I’m late, someone is going to die,” I growled, running through the park.
“Oh calm your tits,” Sterling laughed. “I wanted ice-cream.”
“We have ice-cream at home, you know.” Harvey said rolling his eyes.
“True. But we are right next to a dairy queen.” Sterling defended.
I rolled my eyes, getting slightly annoyed.
“Watch out!” Harvey said quickly.
I was about to ask what he was talking about, but I ran into someone.
“Ouch.” A girl’s voice grunted.
Shit.
I quickly spun around and looked at her.
“I’m so sorry.” I apologized.
I looked down at her and froze. Damn. She was absolutely breathtaking.
She had long, wavy, dark brown hair and gorgeous gray eyes. This girl is so tiny and it’s so fucking adorable.
“N-No. It’s fine.” She stuttered.
We locked eyes and that’s what got me.
‘I-It can’t be.’ Synder said quietly. ‘Mate. S-she’s alive.’
I felt my smile slowly slip.
“Y-you.” I whispered.
“Let’s go.” The older guy stated as he grabbed the girl’s arm and started to pull her away.
“Wait!” I said loudly as I softly grabbed her other arm.
I might have pulled her a little too hard because she slammed into my chest.
I froze as I felt the warmth spread through my body like wildfire. Is it her?
‘I-it has to be. But I-I don’t know how.’ Synder replied confused. ‘I’m not picking up her scent.’
Synder was right. She had no scent.
“Zale.” Sterling said quietly.
She gasped as the older guy pulled her away from me and stood protectively in front of her.
A father maybe? He looked nothing like her though.
‘Now wait just a fucking moment.’ Synder growled.
“Leave.” The man said dangerously as he glared at me.
I matched his glare and took a step towards him.
“Zale. Let’s go.” Harvey said sternly as he pulled me away.
“Wait.” I said as he looked back at me. “B-but.”
“Don’t touch her.” The other man said with narrowed eyes.
I looked down at the mystery girl like my heart was just ripped out of my chest. But that expression was soon gone as my anger took over.
The older man matched my pissed off face and stepped towards me. “You better turn around and walk away before I kick your ass.”
‘Oh hell no.’ Synder growled.
I held my tongue as I felt a growl desperately want to come out.
“Let’s go. Now.” Harvey said.
I went to run after them, but Harvey and Sterling pulled me back.
“Don’t man.” Sterling said seriously.
“Something’s not right with those four.” Harvey mumbled as he watched them walk off. “I couldn’t smell them.”
I nodded. “I couldn’t either.”
“Are you okay?” Sterling asked me.
“I-I don’t know.” I said truthfully. “When we touched, I-I felt warmth. Sparks.”
“But that means.” Harvey whispered.
“But she didn’t have a scent. None of them did.” Sterling mentioned, trying to process the situation.
“How can a person not have a scent?” I asked
“It’s not possible. Everyone has a scent.” Harvey commented. “Hell. Vampires have a scent and they aren’t even living!”
“I think we need to talk to the elders about this one.” I said. “But only after my meeting with Alpha Dunham. Do not speak about this to anyone.”
Sterling and Harvey both nodded.
“You go to the meeting.” Harvey said. “Sterling and I got patrol.”
“Thanks man.” I smiled.
“Hey! What about ice-cream?” Sterling whined.
I rolled my eyes and booked it home.
I wonder how this is gonna go over with my dad.

“Where is this little fucker?” Kenworth asked as we crouched down.
“I just saw him.” I groaned.
“Wait.” Alvar said with a smirk. “There he is.”
I heard a grunt and saw something flying toward our heads.
“Get down!” Maximus shouted just as the giant wolf flew over us.
“Oh my gosh.” Alvar said as she ran for the wolf.
“How many fucking werewolves are we going to run into today?” Maximus growled as he ran after Alvar. “You two! watch the demon!”
Kenworth and I both nodded as we jumped up and ran towards the ugly monster.
The demon saw us and growled. “Angels.”
“Demon.” I spat back as I stood a couple feet from him.
I heard another growl that rang through the trees, sending the birds flying.
I turned to my left and saw a couple men standing there. Shirtless might I add.
Well, hello muscles.
Wait. Dammit. More werewolves.
“W-what?” One of the men asked as he saw me and Kenword.
Great. Just fucking great! This whole ‘not letting werewolves know that guardian angels exist thing’ is going just fan-fucking-tastic.
“Ah shit.” Kenword sighed. “We’ll deal with the wolves later.”
I nodded and charged the demon.
The demon wasn’t paying attention, so it was easy for me to check him.
"Oof." He let out as we both landed on the ground.
The demon grabbed my arm and threw me off him.
I groaned as I smashed into a tree.
“Fuck.” I winced as I stood up. “That’s it.”
I grabbed my staff and jumped as I flapped my wings.
“Kenword duck!” I yelled.
Kenword turned around and his eyes went wide as he saw me flying at full speed towards him.
He fell to the ground holding his head.
The demon turned towards the werewolves and took his daggers out.
Oh no you don’t.
I tucked my wings in making myself go faster and rammed into the demon.
We both landed on a tree and I heard it crack.
I stood up and tried not to fall.
“No one ever wins with a headbutt.” I grunted as I held my forehead.
I screamed as the demon grabbed me and picked me up.
“Guys!” I yelled.
“Kasey!” Maximus yelled worriedly with wide eyes. “You fucking put her down.”
I screamed in pain as the demon wrapped his arms around me and squeezed.
“Why?” The demon laughed. “This is fun.”
The men growled and started to shift.
The demon scoffed. “Stupid wolves.”
Once they shifted, they stalked towards us.
The demon turned so I was in front and used me as a shield as he continued to crush me.
I heard a thud and the demon loosened his grip.
I used that to get out and turn around to see Kenword holding a couple rocks.
“It was all that I could find.” Kenword shrugged.
“Oh well. It worked.” I laughed as I tried to move my arm.
“Are you okay?” Maximus asked as he ran up to me.
I nodded as I bent my arm. “I’m good.”
The demon stood up and growled at all of us.
“Do you ever die?” Kenword asked as he pulled his sword out.
The werewolves stopped in their tracks and stared at us in shock and confusion.
“We have a lot of explaining to do.” Maximus sighed as he too took his sword out.
“Just great.” I mumbled as I pulled my staff out.
We all jumped out of the way as the demon ran towards us.
I turned to look at the wolves who were still staring at us.
‘Oh my fucking gosh.’ I thought to myself as I rolled my eyes and flew over to them.
They jumped back in fear as I landed in front of them.
“Are you guys going to just stand there or actually help?” I asked annoyed. “You guys are fucking werewolves! Act like it, Damn!”
The wolves shook out of it and nodded.
I turned around and flew back over to Maximus and Kenword.
“Where’s Alvar?” I asked as I searched for her.
“She’s helping the wolf out. He got injured pretty bad.” Maximus answered.
I swung my staff and hit the demon’s hand just as he was about to reach for me.
“That’s not good.” I grunted as I swung my staff again.
One of the wolves jumped and landed on the demon.
The wolf dug his teeth into the demon’s back and hung on.
The demon cried out in pain and tried to shake the wolf off.
Now is my chance.
“Hold on, wolfie!” I shouted as I grabbed my silver dagger.
I put the staff back on my back and ran towards the demon running like a chicken with its head cut off.
I jumped up and clung to the demon’s arm.
“Keep your hold.” I told the wolf.
The wolf made a sound and I’m just gonna guess that he understood me.
“Shit.” I said as I missed his chest. “Stop moving dammit!”
I was trying to stab the demon’s chest, but he kept moving around to get the wolf off himself.
“Someone take out his legs!” I shouted.
“I got this!” Kenword shouted as he ran towards us.
Once he got to us, Kenword stuck his foot out and the demon tripped over him.
I can’t believe that worked.
I let out a yelp as the wolf, the demon, and I all fell to the ground.
“Let go!” I shouted as I raised my dagger up.
The wolf quickly let go and jumped back.
I brought my dagger down and stabbed the demon in the chest.
He gasped for air and slowly started to turn to dust.
I sighed in relief as the demon was finally gone and his ashes just laid there on the ground.
“Are you okay?” Kenword asked as he grabbed my hand and pulled me up.
I nodded and dusted off the demon’s dust that got on me. That’s kinda gross if you think about it.
“Are you hurt?” Maximus asked as he checked my body to make sure nothing was broken or bleeding.
I nodded and pushed him away with a chuckle. “Just a small scratch.”
“That is bleeding!” Maximus pointed out as he threw his hands up in the air.
“Stop being so dramatic.” I laughed. “It was from when I got thrown into the tree.”
We stopped talking when we heard someone clear their throat.
We turned around and of course. Standing there was blondie.
“Ah, shit.” I heard Maximus mumbled under his breath.
Yup...He recognizes him too.
Thank the Lord that we look different when we change into humans. At least he won’t recognize us.
“Who are you guys?” The one with light brown hair asked.
Great. Him too?
Wait. That means.... ah shit is right. But where is the other dude?
“Uh, well, you see.” Kenword drawled out as he gave a nervous chuckle. “Funny story actually.”
“Explain,” Blondie demanded as he crossed his arms.
I sighed. “Oh, boy.”
