Chapter 29
Dan and Alan walked slowly and cautiously into the men’s locker room looking down each aisle.
“Three against two,” Morgan said his voice echoing. “I like those odds.”
“You should have joined us, Dan,” Nicholas said. “You had so much potential.”
“What can I say?” Dan replied. “I’m stubborn.”
Suddenly, a jump rope came down from the ceiling tying a tight noose around Dan’s neck lifting him up off the floor choking to breathe. He reached up and pulled on the rope with his hands with all the force he had and loosened the ropes falling to the floor gasping for air.
“You alright?” Dan asked.
“Yeah.”
They looked ahead seeing Morgan, Nicholas, and Tyler at the end of the aisle flipping open all the lockers at the same time on either side.
“You all have the power to stop this anytime,” Dan announced. “We don’t have to do this.”
“We like to think of it as a new way of doing things,” Morgan said. “We’ve had this all planned out for months now. Who do you think goaded you into attacking that guy in the park?”
“Not the least bit surprised now,” Dan said, looking sternly. “I’m not going to let you continue this.”
“Who’s going to stop us?” Nicholas questioned.
From the storage room, the doors opened where several footballs, volley, and soccer balls came flying and hurled their way towards Dan and Alan blocking their path to which they kept walking forward deflecting them all.
“They’re not stopping,” Tyler said worriedly.
The three ran down the hallway as Dan and Alan chased after them to the other side of the locker room. Focusing his attention on Tyler, Dan mentally took hold of him and flung him up against the wall knocking him unconscious. Morgan turned seeing what had happened and looked to Alan throwing him back where he slid down the hall and up against the wall slamming his back. Dan ran back and grabbed a hold of his hand helping him up.
“Now I am really starting to hate those two.”
“Come on, this isn’t over yet.”
Outside of the school amid all the commotion everyone sat and waited wondering what was going on inside.
“Is everyone accounted for?” Principal Roberts asked.
“Yes, except for the Terran students.”
“I’m calling the authorities.”
From somewhere in Mrs. Turner’s mind something unlocked freeing a compartment that has been closed off for some kind of safekeeping.
“Don’t worry,” she said reassuringly. “I’ll take care of it.”
She stepped away from the crowd speed dialing on her cell phone.
“It’s time to bring in the extraction team.”
Dan and Alan entered the library seeing it had turned into a regular war zone. From up above they could see Morgan and Nicholas float forward from the stacks.
“Don’t you see what we are trying to accomplish?” Morgan said imploringly. “The humans here are weak.”
“And you want to start a new world order in high school?” Alan asked.
“This was the perfect place to win people over to our side,” Nicholas explained.
“Not as long as there is still free will,” Dan said indignantly.
Dan and Alan rose in the air ready for whatever Morgan and Nicholas were going to throw at them.
“Let’s see how much power you really have,” Morgan said smiling.
All four of them pushed against each other attempting to push the other two back which made them all fly backward as Dan flew up two chairs hitting Morgan and Nicholas squarely in their torsos. Dan and Alan floated back down seeing the two struggling to get up off the floor.
“I’ve got an idea,” Dan said. “Remember what you did with the pen in the cafeteria?”
Dan quickly gave Morgan and Nicholas a glance letting Alan know.
“Yeah, but that was something small,” he said.
“Only small in your mind. I know if we work together we can pull it off.”
“You think that is going to stop us?!” Morgan said standing.
“You want a fight? You got one!”
Dan and Alan joined hands quickly lifting Morgan and Nicholas off the floor and began to spin end over end at a faster and faster rate.
“What the hell are you doing?” Morgan cried.
“Ugh, I’m going to be sick,” Nicholas said.
“Please stop,” Morgan said. “I can’t take it anymore.”
Morgan and Nicholas collided with each other in the air and both fell to the floor groggy and disoriented. Dan picked up Morgan by the collar as Alan did the same to Nicholas giving them swift punches in the jaw and letting them fall back down knocking both of them out. They both stood together smiling seeing Morgan and Nicholas fall to the floor.
“Let’s get back to Kyle,” Dan said.
