Chapter 222
Chapter 222
Marvanne added, "Whether you make it to the next round or not, you owe me a meal to make up for it.
"I shouldn't have eaten something so spicy last night. My pestod started early this morning, and it's killing me....."
Lily stiffened sipon hearing this. She had completely forgotten about her period. It had been delayed for quite a while. Though she knew that birth control pills. made pregnancy impossible, the delay still worried her.
She hadn't replied to the message, so Maryamme immediately video-called her. As soon as the call connected, Maryanne noticed her pale complexion.
"What's wrong with you?"
"My period's been delayed for a while. I need to find some time to go to the hospital," Lily said, rinsing her mouth and spitting out the toothpaste foam.
She then scheduled an online appointment while washing her face.
Maryanne gasped. "Could you be pregnant?"
Lily finished scheduling the appointment and replied slowly, "It's impossible"
"Well, no contraceptive method is 100% effective. When are you going? I'll go with you!TM
On the other side of the video, Maryanne jumped up from the bed, ready to go at any moment.
"There's no appointment this moming, so it'll have to be in the afternoon."
Today was a Saturday, and the hospital would be crowded. The attemoon appointments would likely be delayed into the evening.
"Going to the doctor isn't a hassle. I can go with you, and Terence can't say anything about it," Maryanne said, smiling happily for a moment before a note of anxiety crept into her voice. "But what if you really are pregnant?" Lily fell silent. Pregnant? Her mind drifted to the endless rumors about Xavier and Sarah
Hazel stood outside the door, her ear pressed against it, savoring the conversation.
Without waiting to hear Lily's response, she rushed back to her room to share the good news with Bobby.
It had to be because she switched the medication-Lily was definitely pregnant! She had always known she wasn't as useless as Bobby thought she was.
After hanging up with Maryanne, Lily soon received a call from Edith. Edith still didn't know about Lily's plan to divorce Xavier.
She asked Lily to bring a bottle of blood pressure medication when she came to the Fulton Manor today.
"Grandma, are you feeling unwell?" Lily asked. "Are Emma and the others there?"
Edith's voice was weak. "There's someone at home, but my blood pressure's high, and I've run out of medication. Where are you now? Can you stop by and pick some up on your way?"
Lily's throat tightened. She couldn't bring herself to refuse. Whether it was about divorcing Xavier or avoiding the Fulton Manor, she just couldn't bring herself to say it.
Edith treated her very well in the two years of their marriage. If she had any conscience, she couldn't refuse.
"I'll bring it to you right away," she said before hanging up. She quickly changed her clothes and left.
As she walked out of the bedroom, she saw Hazel grinning as she came out of the guest room. "Lily, are you hungry?"
"I'm not hungry, I need to step out for something," Lily said, grabbing her jacket and heading out.
She bought the blood pressure medication at a pharmacy downstairs and took a tad straight to the Fulton Manor.
Her plan was simple-drop off the medication and leave before Xavier came back. However, Xavier was already there when she arrived.
The warm winter sun cast long shadows of tree branches across the ground.
As she exited the taxi, she saw
saw two
tall figures standing in the garden. The artificial lake in the garden had frozen over, and two ducks nestled together on the ice. Sarah was holding Xavier's arm, her tace glowing as she admired the scenery. "Xavier, it's been so long since I've been to the Fulton Manor, I almost forgot what it looked like!"
"I'll bring you here more often in the future then." Xavier's voice was warm and rich, his eyes subtly scanning the woman standing at the entrance.
He was curious to see how things would play out between them
