Chapter 331
Emily nodded and struggled to get out of bed.
However, she managed to get up but her legs went numb.
Emily was embarrassed. When Franklin turned around and saw that she was still in bed, he picked her up and carried her to the bathroom with a smile.
After washing up and eating, Emily felt refreshed and began to ask about the wedding.
She didn't dare to ask for more details while Franklin was angry. She thought it might be a good time to ask about it now.
Sure enough, Franklin was not as emotional as he was before.
He said slowly, "The date has been set for next Sunday.”
"Ah, so early?" Emily was surprised.
Franklin said with a long face, "It's better to be early than late. I want it to be earlier so that I can take you back as soon as possible. There's no point staying here any longer. But he was afraid that the wedding would not be grand enough, so he decided to set the date next week. Hmph, it's not a real wedding. Why bother?"
"Maybe it's a real wedding.” Emily said, and then she pursed her lips in a smile.
Franklin could help to reach out and pull her into his arms. He asked, "What do you mean? What else do you know?"
Emily nestled in his arms and told him about Daniel. After saying that, she sighed, "It would be great if that woman showed up. By then, brother can have the wedding with her."
Franklin didn't know about these things, but he said with certainty, "It won't work out. They are not in the same situation as ours at that time. I was very careful and I was sure you would be with me. But his situation is different. That woman hasn't come back yet. We're not sure whether she will come back or not. How can they get married right away?" Emily thought about it and suddenly felt sorry for Daniel.
"Well, I feel pity for him. He's been alone for so many years. Why is that woman so cruel?”
"I didn't hear from you for four years either.” Franklin's teeth itched with hatred at the thought of this.
Emily pouted and retorted, "Why didn't you look for me? I was not far away from you. As long as you tried, you could definitely find me." "Well, forget about it. It's all in the past. There's no point in talking about it anymore.” Franklin's eyes darkened, and he regretted what happened back then as well.
When Emily saw his sad expression, her heart ached for him.
Why did he bring it up again to make himself feel bad?
"Okay, okay, don't be sad. Let me kiss you." Emily kissed him fawningly. Sure enough, it worked. Franklin's eyes immediately lit up, and a faint smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
"There's something going on in Lancaster. Jason and I are going back tomorrow. I'll get it done as soon as possible and come over to the wedding.” Franklin told her about it eventually.
Emily froze for a second and looked at him in a daze.
Franklin sighed, pecked her on the lips, and said, "I don't want to leave you and Bryce either, but I have to deal with this.”
Emily's eyes dulled and she put her arm around his neck.
It was understandable. As the president of the Brent Group, Franklin had been here for so long. Although he could deal with company's affairs through online video meetings, it was still not good to not show up at the company.
No matter how much she hated to be away from him, she was in no position to ask him to stay with her.
"Then come back early after you finish your work. I'll wait for you,” Emily said gloomily.
Franklin nodded.
Emily felt bad. Now that she and Franklin were very much in love with each other, how could she feel better when he was away?
After thinking for a while, she suddenly said to Franklin, "Why don't I go back with you? Anyway, the wedding is next week. I'll try my best to come back next week."
Franklin sighed, "Baby, no. If you come with me, it will definitely arouse Mrs Williams' suspicion. Besides, you and Daniel are going to have a wedding, so you have to stay here to deal with it. It doesn't make sense if the bride is nowhere to be seen. What about the wedding photos? If possible, I want to take you with me. But if I do this, it will make things difficult for Daniel. Can you bear it?"
Of course, she didn't want to make things difficult for Daniel.
Emily sighed, rubbed his face again, and said, "Okay, I'll wait for you to come back."
"Don't worry, I'll be back soon. But before that, take the child to the Williams! I'll let Lisa stay with you."
"Are you sure about that?" asked Emily at the thought of Lisa's crying. Franklin sighed and said, "I'm even more worried if you're with someone else. Everything should be fine at Daniel's place.”
"I'd better stay here! I'm afraid it'll be awkward living with Daniel.” Emily thought for a while, feeling that it was better to live in her own place. Franklin said, "No, it's better to live with Daniel. I'll be worried if you stay alone. After all, Andrew is in Irvine.”
"Okay, then I'll stay at Daniel's place.” Emily agreed as she didn't want Franklin to worry.
Franklin rubbed her hair and kissed her for a while. They didn't stop kissing until Bryce knocked on the door and came in.
Bryce had three fathers. As it said, blood was thicker than water. Franklin was the one whom he spent the least time with but the closest one to him.
Hearing that Franklin was leaving, he climbed into Franklin's arms and took Emily's position.
"Dad, can't you leave? I'll miss you," Bryce pouted and said in a sad tone.
Franklin pinched his cheek and said, "Good baby, I will go home for a few days and come to you in a few days. Be good and don't annoy mommy."
"I won't. I'm a good boy." Bryce immediately raised his hand solemnly and swore.
Franklin's heart softened as he looked at Bryce's adorable face. He held his little face and kept kissing his face and neck, which amused Bryce and he tried to dodge.
The next morning, Jason came to pick up Franklin, and they left.
Lisa came with Jason. Emily thought they weren't on speaking term. Unexpectedly, when Jason left, he was reluctant to leave her and told Emily, "Madam, Lisa will be with you. If there is anything wrong, please forgive her."
