Chapter 300
"The Brent Group? I remember it. I had some social contact with your father. When your father died, I couldn't attend his funeral because of a private thing.” Mrs Williams said faintly.
Franklin said, "My father has been dead for many years. It's moving that you still remember."
Mrs Williams smiled faintly, then looked at the person at the door and frowned, "What's wrong with you? Since Mr. Brent is here to visit, why are you stopping him at the door?"
"Madam, the housekeeper specifically told us not to be disturbed today.” The people at the door quickly reported to Mrs Williams.
Mrs Williams said, "Maybe it's because I'm here, so Daniel stopped others from seeing me. Now I'm leaving. This is the president of The Brent Group. Don't contradict him. Please invite him in."
"Yes, madam, but I'll call the housekeeper first." The man at the door said.
Mrs Williams knew that Daniel was in charge of the family now. Even it was her, they still had to be careful not to offend Daniel, so she nodded to admit and left after greeting Franklin.
From the beginning to the end, she did not look at Emily, nor did she ask who Emily was.
After all, Emily looked very different from Abigail, and not too much like Brandon. So Mrs Williams didn't notice her and thought she was just a follower of Franklin.
"She's Mrs Williams! She's not very beautiful, but she's very imposing.” Emily sighed as she watched Mrs Williams' car leave.
Franklin said, "This is a very skillful woman, but because of this, the betrayal of Brandon is more painful and more discouraged to her. All these years, she has been living alone, not happier than your mother.” Emily opened her mouth to say something, but finally say anything.
No matter how miserable her mother was, she was a third party who was not blessed and a bad woman who stole someone else's husband. They should feel guilty about this Mrs Williams.
The man on this side spoke to the butler and told him Mrs Williams* orders. The butler took it seriously and immediately reported to Daniel. Daniel didn't expect Franklin and Emily to come and meet his mother. He thought that his mother didn't know Emily's identity yet, or his mother wouldn't have left so easily.
Then he said to the butler, "Let them in!"
"Yes, sir." The butler nodded immediately and quickly called the people at the door to let them in.
Emily heaved a sigh of relief when she heard that they were allowed in. After the two of them entered, the butler took them directly to a small parlor.
Williams Family's architecture and decoration were very classical, which could be seen in its family-style. Emily and Franklin walked all the way. Franklin was careless about the surroundings, while Emily looked the environment in a daze.
After glancing around, she sighed in her heart, not knowing what it felt like.
"You wait here for a moment. The master will be right over,” said the butler respectfully.
Emily nodded, but when the butler left, she whispered to Franklin, "He said “master’, who is the master? Didn't he say that Brandon was dead? Could it be Daniel's maternal grandfather?”
Emily thought of her mother's fear of Daniel's grandpa and couldn't help but feel a little scared.
Franklin pinched her cheek and said, "How old is Old Master Williams? Why is he here? He should be talking about Daniel."
"Daniel? How old is Daniel? They should call him master?!" Emily was shocked.
Franklin smiled and said, "This is just a title.”
Emily curled her lips and thought in her heart, "It sounds like in feudal society but they did not feel shy!"
But the last time she saw Daniel, she thought he was really good- looking. He was about the same as Franklin, but not as handsome as him. Such a man was actually his brother. Even though her identity was a little awkward, she was still a little excited to think about it.
Daniel came quickly, and Emily immediately stood up and looked at him nervously.
This time, Daniel also looked at her and frowned. Emily's heart thumped and she didn't know what he meant.
"Well... I'm coming to pick up the child.” Emily said.
Daniel coldly said, "I was supposed to send him back, but my mother suddenly came, so I had to delay. Since you guys came to pick him up, I have asked the housekeeper to pack the things for him, so you can take them away when you leave."
"We don't need anything. Thank you for taking care of him these days," Franklin said.
Daniel glanced at Franklin and thought about his identity and knew that there was no shortage of the things he wanted to give.
But he still said, "I have already bought them and he likes them very much. If you don't like it, you can go out and throw them away."
"We don't mean that. We just think it costs too much.” Emily immediately smiled somewhat awkwardly.
Daniel looked at her again with a complicated look in his eyes.
Franklin was dissatisfied, although he knew that they were brother and sister. But seeing another man staring at his woman like this, he was still very uncomfortable.
"Since you're willing to let him go, it's not convenient for us to disturb you. Call the child out and we'll take him away immediately.” Franklin stood up and said.
"Wait." Daniel suddenly said.
Franklin frowned
However, Daniel didn't even look at him. His eyes were still on Emily and he said to Franklin, "You go out first. I have something to tell her.” Franklin's face darkened, but thinking that he was Emily's brother, he held back and said, "I know your relationship, so I don't have to debarb. If you have anything to say, just say it in front of me! And you don't have to worry. This is the last time we come to see you, and we will never disturb your life again.”
"So, do you think I asked you to leave and talk to her alone, just in order to bully her?" Daniel asked with a sneer.
Franklin remained silent, but his attitude was clear.
Daniel snorted and said, "I thought she was just your lover at first, but now it seems that your relationship is not ordinary.”
"It because you know too little. You should investigate my relationship with her in detail, then you will find that our relationship is deeper than you think."
"Yeah, but how did I hear that child say that his father's surname was not Brent, but the name was James.” Daniel said coldly.
Franklin's face darkened. "James" was his taboo. Although he knew that nothing had happened between Emily and James, he was still dissatisfied that a man had occupied his wife and son's life for so many years.
Daniel successfully saw Franklin's anger, so he raised his lips and snorted, "You also said that you know my relationship with her. Whether I want to or not, she has already existed. Whether I want to admit it or not, the blood relationship can't be erased. I don't want to pursue the grudges of the old generation, but seeing as she's the only person I'm half-blooded with. If she wants to leave you, I can still help her."
