Heart of the Moon

Kieran’s POV ~

I was hoping for a little more finesse to this battle. I forgot there is no honor among rogues. I looked around the group of rogues.. as Calista walked up to me. She turned to Emory’s body and held up a closed fist.. as she opened it.. she flung her arm downward.. setting the wolf on fire.

I spoke succinctly “You chose the wrong man to follow! In your blatant ignorance, you sided with a man.. whose family assassinated our last king. Do you not realize how contradictory your actions are? You choose to go rogue because you refuse the conformity of pack.. but then opt to follow a maniacal fool who would be king? Utterly asinine and more convoluted than anything I have ever imagined! He was a coward! A cheater! A man who believed he was destined to greatness.. simply because his great grandfather killed a king! And YOU CHOSE TO FOLLOW HIM! Which makes all of you as foolish as he was. Now! Fight or Flee! Because after tonight… my pack and I will show no mercy!”

They scattered like rats from a sinking ship.. not one remained! I told Cold “Take our Luna back to the dinner.. I will be along shortly. Tell Peter to start introducing the children to our guests! Baby, save me a dance.” She giggled and said “I will save all my dances for you.. I have a secret to share.” Then, she kissed me.. a sexy, aggressive kiss which made MY toes curl!

I turned to Axel and said burn the good doctor. Axel grunted “Sure! Luna can burn the one, and leave this one! Shit!” I laughed.. shifting, I grabbed my clothes and headed to the river.

The party was in full swing by the time I was able to make it back.. and I immediately searched out my mate. I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her tight against my chest “If kissing me like that was meant to make me want to ravish every inch of this luscious body, mission accomplished!” She giggled and whispered “Yay! I succeeded!”

I led her onto the dance floor and took her in my arms.. “This! I have been dreaming of holding you, just like this.. all day! I love you. So much more than I ever thought possible, my love! You.. our boys.. are my entire world! No one will ever dare harm you!”

She smiled so beautifully.. and said “I love you. I have always loved you. Before I even knew who you were.. my heart called out to you. I will love you throughout eternity.. my soul will always find yours.” I dipped her.. and planted my lips on hers.

I lifted her and spun in a circle.. laughing with her. I said “A secret? Will you share?” She nodded so cutely and whispered “What shall we name our daughter?” It took a hot minute before what she said could register. I whooped loudly and spun her again.. “Are you.. Are we.. We’re having a baby?” At her nod, I leaped to the stage and yelled “We’re pregnant!” And everyone started shouting at once.

We had all sat down to eat.. when Maggie came over and sat beside Calista.. she was beaming..as she told us “Philip and I are adopting two adorable pups.. a brother and sister..He is four.. she’s not yet two. I just wanted to thank you! Our family is whole.. because of you.. and the heart you have! Girl! Never change!” She hugged Calista and my beautiful girl got teary eyed.. hiding her face in my chest.

After dinner, Calista excused herself to put Derek and Darius down for the night. I sat with our family.. enjoying a whiskey and cigar. Alec says “Sooo.. a baby! You’re in for a real treat with that one! My uncle said her moods were all over the map, with the boys! Uncle Seamus threatened to send her home to us a hundred times”

A sadness came over me.. for all that I missed, and I said “I will be present and aware for every moment! I missed too much! She should have never had to go through any of it alone!” She walked into the room and smacked Alec in the head “Don’t! Just don’t. I could feel his sadness and guilt all the way upstairs.. I have forgiven and forgotten!” He mumbled an apology and we all laughed at how this little slip of a woman can bring Alphas to their knees!

Peter said “On a side note.. Valerie is expecting, too.” And we all groaned! That poor child! I said “Thank Goddess that baby has Aggie and you to teach it morals!” Aggie laughed “Sure! Because it’s mother took my lessons so well! I will stick to mothering Alec and Callie! They’re easy!”

The night was winding down.. all seventeen orphans found forever homes..and Calista was officially my Luna! All is right in my world! My mate may be the Heart of the Moon.. but she is the keeper of mine!
