Heart of the Moon

I was so angry. It felt like my whole life has just been one big conspiracy! Cecil transferred into Uncle Seamus pack three days after I arrived! Which tells me Doc had to be involved! He just happens to be Valerie’s third cousin.. who happened to set her cap to be my mate’s Luna.. while her own mate languished in pain.. right here in the same pack! Cecil is somehow related to the Rogue King.. if Emory Cassius is the king, since they share the same last name! For all I know Isaiah Jenkins is the king! This has done my head in!!

Sitting here in the office, I tell the guys “Just hear me out, until the end. We know Cecil is related to Valerie. We also know he is related to this so-called Rogue King! He has known where I was, all along.. which tells me that the doctor is involved! Otherwise, no Cecil, right?! Now.. here’s where my timeline gets sketchy! I’m not big on conspiracy theories.. but this is mine!

Cecil was kicked out of Seamus pack for being caught copying files off Seamus computer.. although, it was never determined if he had succeeded. Three months before Dark Woods was attacked.. and my dad targeted.. Valerie makes her play for you, Kieran.. When that wasn’t moving fast enough to suit ‘the powers that be’ and you hadn’t taken her as your chosen.. they stepped up the game. Knowing I would return home, as soon as I found out about my dad.. they attacked. Valerie has known Troy is her mate for nearly ten months.. so he suffered pain of betrayal every time she cheated. That would have pissed anyone off enough to commit murder.. much less treason. Valerie told Troy he had to help her cousin before she would accept him! Once I was home.. they know it is only a matter of time before Kieran and I complete the mate bond. They will move mountains to prevent that. Thanks to the doctor.. they probably think they know I am either the Heart.. or by abducting me, they will be able to negotiate for the Heart. We have to find the doctor.. and how he fits into the puzzle!”

Axel whistled low and said “Damn! That is a shit ton of information you got out of them! I vote Luna be our official pack interrogator from now on!” Kieran says “Absolutely Not! It crushes her! Every time she causes another pain… it breaks her soul! It won’t ever happen again, if I can help it!”

Cole asks “The question is.. are there any more traitors in this pack!? We seem to be on a circus carousel and we just keep going around in circles. Chasing our tails like a litter of six week old pups!”

I asked “Have we found any more information on Isaiah Jenkins? Where did he go, after he absconded from my father’s pack? Is he with this Emory Cassius? And what about him? Have we found any information on him? The name of the rogue leader who led the coup against the monarchy? These things have to be our focus, now.”

Kieran said “Axel, call for a pack meeting at 8 tonight. I don’t want to have to do it.. but I am going to command the traitors to step forward. It’s such an abuse of Alpha privilege and I hate doing it! I also want to let them know we will be holding a trial for our two prisoners. Cecil is a dead man, regardless! But I will let the pack decide what happens to Valerie and Troy.”

Kieran calls Alec and asks him if they had found anything more about where the Doc might have run off to.. but, also to let them know everything we had uncovered. I guess he is coming with Dad and Simon to attend the pack meeting. They want to witness the Alpha command being used on an entire pack.. but I think Daddy is coming to play with the twins!

Kieran looks at me and says “We have to get to the cells.. Now!” We all run and rush the doors, at roughly the same time.. with Cole and Kieran getting caught.. I laugh and Axel said “Ohh! That’s what a door jam is” which made me laugh harder. Causing Kieran to give us both a dirty look. Oops! But, then I said “It’s really jam with a B” To which Cole replied.. in such an intellectual voice “That’s just stupid.. that would make it Bam.. and that makes no sense!” Kieran turns swiftly and asks “Seriously, Dude!? It’s j-a-m-b!” While Cole mumbles “that’s even stupider!” That did it.. I couldn’t stop the laughter!

We get inside… finally.. only to find a very flustered guard.. Kieran asked him what was going on.. the guard leads us to Cecil’s cell. And he’s dead. Just hanging there. Dead. I rush to the body and start examining him. Kieran is pissed and asking who was in the cells.. where were the guards.. I walked over and placed my hand on his chest.. I whispered “Baby.. he’s been poisoned.. a high dosage of wolfsbane. His body reeks of it.”

He roars “How the FUCK did this happen?! Cole.. pull up the video. David, I want a report of the timeline of every person who has been down here since this morning!” He walked over and looked at Valerie “What? No tears to shed for the cousin you betrayed us for?” She just shrugged and flipped him off. Axel chuckled “Oh… she got brave? Poor Valerie.. whoever got to your cousin.. may be coming for you, next! Ever think about that!? You failed, too.” All the color drained from her face.

I was standing over Cole’s shoulder and watching the video with him.. he started with the time I had spent interrogating Cecil.. and we watched every movement.. nobody came in or out. No one disturbed him.. it showed the guards.. walking their rounds.. but they never entered the cell. Then I noticed something. I said “Watch him.. See how he keeps rocking his head side to side? Slamming his jaws together? There! Stop it! Right there! That’s how he did it!”

I walked back to the cell.. and Kieran had lowered his body to the floor. I knelt beside his head and yanked his mouth open. Dislocating his jaw, I reached my fingers in his mouth and looked up “He had wolfsbane concentrated capsules lodged in four of his molars.. the teeth have been hollowed out to accommodate the capsules! Clever! Ingenious, actually! He had to break the caps on his teeth to access them.. but once he did, he was probably dead within ten minutes! Apparently, the Rogue King believes in fail safes!”

Axel says “That’s some next level crazy shit, right there!” I nod and walk over to the sink.. scrubbing my hands four times. I hear Kieran say “I’m actually relieved! I was thinking there was another traitor amongst us!”

We get to the pack house, just as my family arrived. We went straight in for dinner.. I walked in on Daddy’s arm and got him seated.. he kept looking for the boys. I smile and say “They’re on the way. Their nanny is getting them dressed.” He kept watching and as soon as they entered.. they made a beeline for him. He yanked them both up and said “Grandpa has missed you munchkins!” I introduced Aggie to Alec and Simon.. then I turned to Daddy and he was staring directly at her.. they both whispered “Mate” in awestruck voices.. I said “Shit! I just lost a Nanny!” And Cole… bless his stupid heart, laughs.. saying “But! You gained a stepsister!” Fuck My Life!
