Chapter 158
[If not for this incident, she could have been the gold medalist that year!]
(Indeed! It’s not just a possibility. It’s a certainty! If not for this incident, Jennifer weddn’t even have a place in the dance
Exactly, the dance world should have been hers. Tom ruined someone so gifted.]
[He is pitiable]
[Hey, the pitiable have their share of hatefulness!]
At the Linney residence, upon seeing these comments online, Jennifer couldn’t contain her anger, almost wishing to throw her phone against the wall.
Natalie’s just a wretch! She cursed inwardly.
Why did Natalie return from the mountains to steal everything from her? And why did she have to compete with her for the Rhythm Revolution’s gold medal!
If Natalie hadn’t come back, everything would have been fine.
Brian would still be the kind neighbor, and he wouldn’t have fallen in love with Natalie.
Jennifer pinched her nails so hard that they drew blood.
She glanced at her phone screen.
The comment section now had more remarks.
(Let’s avoid dragging Jennifer into this gossip. She’s innocent. Moreover, the second–place dancer is also quite remarkable, isn’t she? Even without the gold medal, she can still illuminate the dance scene.]
[Exactly! What’s the big deal about 9.88? Who knows if she used an amphetamine to achieve such a high score!]
[Yeah! Performance–enhancing drugs inherently boost physical capabilities. By the finals, some contestants may be physically drained, making it impossible to deliver their best performance.]
[Who knows? Jennifer might have scored a perfect 10 with the help of amphetamine at that time. I’m just joking. Jennifer’s character wouldn’t allow her to use such things.
Only then did Jennifer’s complexion improve slightly.
She decided to forget it.
She was now a prominent figure in the dance community. Her numerous fans adore her, and her position remains: unchallenged. She has become an expert judge in major dance competitions, featured in interviews by various TV stations, and has taken on roles as a mentor in popular entertainment shows.
In fact, every dancer respectfully addressed her upon meeting her.
The situation was already set in stone.
“Why bother arguing with that wretch? She thought.
It was just a matter of venting on the internet

The immediate concern way, not this matter.
The bidding event would happen in half a month.
This bidding was of utmost importance as it would decide the next two years of collaboration for Jupiter Knights, the largest jewelry manufacturer in Solterra. If Jupiter Knights successfully collaborated with the Sherman Group, the Sherman Group was bound to reach new heights
Brian would undoubtedly be more grateful and indispensable to her.
She wanted Brian to notice her. She was far superior to that wretched Natalie.
With that in mind. Jennifer picked up her phone, dialed a number, and quickly connected. In a serious tone, she asked, “Is the design draft completed?”
The voice on the other end reassured her. “It’s almost ready. Please be patient.
“I need to see the email by tomorrow afternoon!” Jennifer said.
“Alright replied the person on the other end.
As soon as the hung up, Evelyn entered with a fruit platter, wearing a skeptical smile. “What email?”
Jennifer was taken aback and then flashed a smile. “Mom? Why didn’t you knock? It’s an email from the dance association. It’s been delayed for a few days, so I reminded them.”
Evelyn’s eyes carried a trace of mockery, but her face suddenly le up with understanding. “Oh, I see!
“Oh, by the way, Charles will be discharged this afternoon. Let’s go pick him up together. He must be eager to see you.”
“Sure!” Jennifer took the fruit platter, smiling. “Got it.”
“Then I’ll get out of your hair,” said Evelyn..
“Okay!” Jennifer hummed.
Evelyn turned and exited the room.
After closing the door, Jennifer furrowed her brows.
In fact, she had never been able to understand Evelyn over the years.
To be fair, Evelyn had indeed treated her well. Every time she fell ill, Evelyn took care of her without reservation. Each year, Evelyn prepared birthday gifts for her and even gave her the diamond symbolizing the daughter of the Linney family.
Yet, the emotions in Evelyn’s eyes seemed superficial.
It felt so shallow that Jennifer even likened it to a layer of floating ice.
On second thought, Jennifer remembered that during these days when Charles was hospitalized, Evelyn hadn’t shown much
sadness on her face.
Maybe she was overthinking things.
Maybe Evelyn was just like this with everyone.
Perhaps it was just her innate lack of maternal depth

Evelyn left.
Outside the living room, a light rain drizzled down from the eaves, creating a continuous, dripping melody.
It was just like that night many years ago when she was in labor.
The night before she gave birth, everyone left her.
Evelyn felt the rain with her hand, her eyes vacant and filled with sorrow,
A concerned servant approached and said, “Mrs. Linney, you should stand inside. It wouldn’t be good if you catch a cold.”
Evelyn didn’t look at the servant. Her demeanor was celestial.
In the drizzle, she wore a green dress, looking as graceful as a fairy.
After a while, she asked softly, “How is the arrangement coming along
The servant lowered her eyes and reassured, “At most, it will be completed within the next two days. Please rest assured.”
In the afternoon, Josh received a message when he was working in his office.
“Dead he murmured with a frown, setting down his pen.
Yes, Martin lowered his head and said, “National Police Bureau said Tom suddenly had difficulty breathing this morning. and then he died unexpectedly. After the autopsy, no wounds were found on his body. They examined his food and water, finding no traces of poisoning. The preliminary forensic determination is death by suffocation.”
