Chapter 21: Prisoner In My Body

ADRIANA'S POV

My mouth watered as I took in the platter of food, I couldn't wait to dig in. The maids set the tray on the table next to my bed and left the room, leaving me alone with my meal. I started with the soup, as it was still steaming hot. The broth was rich and flavorful, and it was filled with chunks of vegetables and tender pieces of meat. The warmth of it soothed my soul, and I felt my body relax as I ate.

Next, I moved on to the roasted chicken and vegetables. The chicken was juicy and tender, and it had a crispy golden skin. The vegetables were seasoned with herbs and had a nice crunch to them. I ate quickly, as I was famished and the food was delicious. I then moved on to the pasta, which was tossed with a rich, creamy sauce, and it was heavenly. The pasta was al dente, and the sauce was so flavorful, it was hard to resist eating more than I should.

I finished off my meal with some fruit and a warm piece of bread. The fruit was fresh, and it had a sweetness that was irresistible. The bread was soft, and it had a nice texture. I ate everything on my plate, and I felt satisfied and content.

I knew that I would need my strength. I was finished with my meal when a sudden wave of nausea washed over me. I knew I needed to get to the lavatory as fast as possible. Once I got there, I quickly locked myself inside and heaved into the toilet bowl. My body convulsed as I threw up the food that I had just eaten. The tears streaming down my face as I retched, my body trembling with the effort.

Daciana was worried as she asked me if I was OK. I wiped my mouth and said yes, although I felt a bit better. I drank some water, my throat still burning from the acidic taste. I slowly walked back to the room, feeling embarrassed and weak. Daciana had followed me and she asked me if I was OK. I told her that I was fine, just a bit of indigestion. She looked at me with concern in her eyes and I knew she didn't believe me, but I didn't want her to worry about me.

"Are you okay? You look really pale”

I replied, trying to sound casual. “I'm fine, just a bit of indigestion.” Daciana frowned "Are you sure? You looked like you were in a lot of pain.” I sighed “I don't want to talk about it. Let's talk about something else.”

She nodded “Alright, if you're sure. But if you need anything, please let me know.”

I smiled. “Thank you, Daciana. I appreciate your concern.” I lay back on the bed, a bit better but still weak. I knew that I had to take care of myself, both physically and emotionally, if I was going to fight for my freedom and clear my name. I would have to stay strong and not let Donovan's threat break me.

I could see the anger in Daciana's eyes as she glared at the guards who had locked me up without any food or water. I knew that she would make sure that they were punished for their actions. She ordered the physician to be called again to do something about my throwing up.

The physician arrived soon after, and he examined me. He gave me some drugs to take immediately, promising they would relieve me of the indigestion.

Daciana stayed by my side, making sure that I had everything that I needed. She promised that she would make sure that I got the justice that I deserved, and I knew that she meant it.

I felt so grateful to have Daciana on my side. She had been my savior, and I knew that with her help, I could get through this difficult time and come out on the other side, free and happy once again. After freshening up, I came out of the room and Daciana asked me to sit down. She sat beside me and we began to talk.

“Was it true?” she asked, her question catching me totally off guard. “What?” I asked, confused. "What Donovan said about catching you with the warrior in a... “compromising position” she dragged out the words, trying to say it just like he did.

“No,” I replied almost immediately.

“Adriana, I need to know the truth. So I am going to ask you for a second time. Did Donovan lie against you?”

"Yes, he did. But-" I replied but I was halfway when she interrupted. A worried look etched on her face instantly. “Why didn't you defend yourself?”

"H-he" I stuttered, tears welling up in her eyes “He threatened to kill me if I talked.” I replied

She suddenly realized everything instantly. She whirled around, clenching her fist while seeming to be thinking of something. “That son of a bitch. I can't believe he would do something like this.” “Xander said he never lies, not even against his greatest enemies.” I asked. She nodded as a reply. “I know. I was so scared, and I didn't know what to do.”

Daciana replied, biting down her anger. “I understand. But I promise you, I will make him pay for what he's done.”

“Please don't, I don't want anything that will make him hurt me.”

“He will continue to hurt you if we do nothing about this.” She said, still thinking of something.

“But what about Xander? He hasn't ordered my release yet?” I asked.

Daciana patted my shoulders. “Don't worry, I'll beg Xander to release you and clear your name. We will prove your innocence and make sure that Donovan is punished for his actions.”

“Thank you, Daciana. I don't know what I would do without you.” I said to her before she pulled me into a hug.

"You don't have to worry about a thing. I'm here for you and I will always fight for you. Just don’t be so feisty, it won't do you any good. I'll talk to Xander and beg him to let you go. But you must understand that you'll have to abide by everything he says.”

I sighed “I know. But it's hard for me to be ordered around like a puppet. I just want to be free and not trapped inside all the time. I never asked for this. I was on my own, I never told him I wanted to be with him.”

Daciana had an understanding look on her face “I know it's hard, but it's one of the sacrifices you have to make for being with Xander. He's the Alpha, and he wants to protect you.”

I nodded in understanding while complaining internally “But it's not fair. I'm not a prisoner.” Seemingly to sense my frustration, she said. “I understand how you feel, but you have to trust Xander. He's only trying to protect you. And I'll make sure that you're treated with the respect and kindness that you deserve. I have something else to tell you. Xander also wants to protect you from some rebellious members of the Pack who won't hesitate to hurt you if they discover you're not a Lycan, just like Donvan.”

"What do you mean?” I asked, perplexed.

Daciana paused for a moment. “He doesn't want anyone to know that you're a werewolf and not a Lycan. He's afraid that they might use that information against you or harm you. He's also a very jealous man. He doesn't want anyone to trifle with his property, especially not you. He's the Alpha and he wants to make sure that you're safe and protected at all times.”

“I understand, but it still feels like I'm being treated like a possession, not a person.”

Her next words were sympathetic. She took my hand and gave me a squeeze. “I know it does, but try to understand it from his perspective. He's just trying to keep you safe. And we'll work together to make sure that he understands that you're a person, not just a possession.”

A sense of relief washed over me as I listened to Daciana speak. I knew that I could trust her, and I felt grateful to have her on my side. I also felt hope for the first time in days, knowing that she would fight for me and make sure that I got out of this room at least.

Daciana hugged me and promised to do everything in her power to clear my name and make sure that Donovan was punished for his actions, which was obviously a lie. I knew that it wouldn't be easy, but I was ready to face the situation head-on, not minding his threats.

As Daciana and I were finishing our conversation, I couldn't help but glance toward the door. The guards who were standing outside were now looking on at us, as they waited for Daciana to be done talking to me. Their expressions were stoic, and they gave no indication of whether they felt any remorse for what had happened.

I could see the keys hanging from their belts and I knew that once Daciana left, they would lock the door again, leaving me inside. The thought of staying inside the room for one more day filled me with dread. The guards were tall and muscular, with broad shoulders and stern expressions. They wore dark uniforms, and their armor glinted in the sunlight that was streaming through the window. Their weapons were prominently displayed, and I could see the sharp edges of their swords and the gleam of their axes.

They were a formidable sight, and I knew that I would have no chance of overpowering them. They were trained warriors, and I was just a normal person. I knew that I would have to rely on Daciana’s help to get out of this situation.

As I looked at them, a sense of hopelessness washed over me. I knew that I was at their mercy, and I didn't know what the future held for me. All I could do was pray that Daciana would be able to help me and clear my name. That's when I had the chance to see what she was in

Daciana was dressed in casual attire, wearing a white t-shirt that was tucked into a pair of black skinny jeans. The t-shirt was made of soft cotton material and it hugged her curves in all the right places. The jeans were made of stretchy denim material, and they fit her perfectly, highlighting her toned legs. She wore a pair of black ankle boots that had low heels, and they seemed comfortable and easy to walk in. The boots were made of soft leather and they had a silver buckle on the side. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail, and her face was free of makeup. She wore a simple silver necklace with a small pendant and a pair of silver hoop earrings that dangled from her ears. After she left, my mind kept drifting back to Donovan. The memory of his dangerous look and his threat was like a nightmare that wouldn't leave my head. I could still see the cold, calculating gleam in his eyes and the way he had spoken to me. He had been so confident, so sure of himself, and it had scared me.

I couldn't forget how he had threatened to kill me if I talked. I knew that he was capable of it, and it sent shivers down my spine. He was a ruthless and dangerous man, and I knew that he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.

The thought of him made me feel trapped, like a prisoner in my own body. I knew that he would stop at nothing to make sure that I didn't talk, and I was terrified of what he might do if I did now I had talked. Daciana would surely let it out.

I reached a conclusion that I had to find a way to escape his grasp, and I was determined to prove my innocence. I knew that it would be a long and difficult journey, but I was ready to fight for my freedom, and I knew that with Daciana by my side, anything was possible. I was determined to put Donovan's threats behind me and move on with my life. He was nothing but a nightmare, and I was determined to end it.
