89 The light that conquers the darkness The next day when April woke up it was already noon, she saw Alessandro sitting at the table next to the window staring at the stones he had in a glass jar, she sat on the bed and asked him.

-_Lessan, how are you? Alessandro put aside what he was doing, approached the bed, gave Abril a kiss on the forehead and said to her.

_I'm perfectly fine and that's thanks to you, how are you? _I'm fine.

_ Are you hungry? _Yes, I'll go ask for food to be brought to us.

Alessandro got up and headed for the door, before he left Abril remembered the children and said to him.

_The children...

_Don't worry about them, I've already asked them to be taken care of.

_Thank you.

After Alessandro left, April got up.

After washing and changing her clothes, she was curious about that jar with those stones that Alessandro had been staring at so intently.

As she took that bottle in her hands she felt as if something was pushing her and she dropped the bottle to the ground.

A dark smoke began to emerge from those stones.

Instinctively, April stepped back, terrified, not knowing what it was.

Alessandro entered and saw the same darkness that had surrounded Baron Terren, he ran to where Abril was to protect her.

_ Are you OK? _I just wanted to see what was in that jar, but I felt something strange and dropped it, that black smoke started coming out, I'm sorry.

_Step back, that's dangerous.

They both headed to the door, that smoke headed towards them, then April heard a voice speaking in her head and telling her to use her magic to erase that darkness.

As the darkness approached them, Alessandro shuddered.

That darkness conveyed something extremely twisted and malevolent.

Alessandro then felt April hug him and said.

_Close your eyes.

_ That? _Now.

Alessandro did what Abril asked him to do, he didn't know exactly why but he trusted her.

A blinding light came out of Abril's body and that darkness was erased.

_You can now April your eyes.

Abril told him, when Alessandro opened his eyes he saw that the darkness had completely disappeared.

_ What happened? April didn't really know what had happened either, she just said before passing out.

_I think I made it disappear.

Alessandro caught her before she hit the ground, but he heard something fall, a clink as it hit the ground, it was the earrings that limited Abril's magic, she had taken them both off, Alessandro carried her to the bed, gently laid her down and very quickly put the earrings back on, sealing again the magic that had begun to escape.

He caressed April's face and called her name several times.

_April.

But she did not wake up for the rest of the afternoon, as night fell someone knocked on the bedroom door, when Alessandro opened it he saw his brother.

Cassian, seeing Alessandro's worried face, asked him.

_ Did something happen? _It's April...n _ What happened to April? The hallway was not the best place to talk about what had happened, Alessandro told his brother.

_You better come in.

Entering Cassian saw April lying on the bed, he approached her, seeing her pale face, Cassian asked.

_ What happened? _Yesterday I brought some strange stones, April dropped them and darkness came out, April released her magic to fight it, Cassian remembered that Maya had told him about the darkness and told him.

_You won't believe it, but I was told about that today.

_ What did they tell you about that? _I was told that darkness was a weapon that humans used in ancient times to defeat the elves, although I don't really know what that means.

Alessandro took one of the stones that had previously guarded the darkness and showed it to Cassian.

_Yesterday I discovered that Baron Terren used street children to experiment on them, he did horrible things to them, he used one of these stones to increase his power, a terrifying and chilling power, do you think it's the same thing? _I don't know, maybe it's the same thing.

_ What is King Venobich up to with all this? _ King Venobich? _Apparently he was the one who gave such power to Baron Terren.

_Lessan, in the book that they taught me about elven history, all the kingdoms appear, including the kingdom of the elves.

On that map, darkness appeared.

The place where it all apparently began was in the kingdom of Laios, where King Venobich is.

_ Do you think he found that weapon? _I think so, although perhaps he doesn't know very well how to use it and that's why he's experimenting with it.

Alessandro ruffled his hair, King Venobich was already incredibly strong with just his magic, having darkness as a weapon would be even worse, it seemed that dark times awaited them.

_This time the war will be worse than the last, King Venobich does not seem willing to lose this time.

Cassian had always wondered why King Venobich was so intent on conquering Cosset's kingdom, there were more kingdoms and more prosperous than Cosset, however, he had never attacked other kingdoms, his war had always been with Cosset.

_Lessan there is something I have been wondering for a while, why does King Venobich only attack us? What exactly does he want from our kingdom?
