Chapter 2
2 Marriage mark As they left the city, the guards used a teleportation scroll to reach Cosset's kingdom.
This was the first time April had used teleportation magic.
She felt dizzy and as if her entire body had been destroyed and put back together.
When the guards opened the carriage door telling her that they had arrived they found the young princess gasping in pain, they did not ask her if she had ever traveled using teleportation scrolls, but they had assumed that she had since she was a princess.
The first time traveling with the teleportation scrolls could be very tiring, but they never heard of it being painful, they thought the princess was pretending and ignored her.
_Please come down, princess, do not keep his majesty the king waiting.
They forced her to get out of the carriage even though April could barely stand, tired and in pain she walked almost crawling.
They took her to a huge temple, April walked without stopping, each step was painful and exhausting, when they entered the temple she saw that it was beautifully decorated with flowers, the place was full of people and in the background there was a huge statue of Juno, goddess of marriage, the guards told her to walk without stopping, on the altar next to the statue there was a man, April's vision was blurry and until she was close enough she could not distinguish the features of that man.
He was tall, with broad shoulders and tight muscles, he had black hair and beautiful emerald green eyes, the closer she got, the bigger that man seemed to April.
He had a look of displeasure on his face that he didn't bother to hide.
He must be the groom, April thought, that meant this was her wedding.
She walked until she was in front of the king of Cosset, Alessandro Veriatte.
April did not bow, nor did she speak sweet words, she only said.
_Hello.
His words were sharp, they showed no feeling, no pain, no anger, no fear, there was no hatred either, his words rang empty.
The king frowned, annoyed that she was so insolent, that she would scorn him like that in front of everyone as if to say.
I will not bow to you, you do not deserve my respect.
What the king did not know was that April had no idea about the etiquette she should display in the presence of someone with a high position since she had never received such an education.
The king extended his hand, annoyed at having to touch the daughter of his sworn enemy; Alessandro wanted to end this situation as soon as possible, so he cut short the ceremony and said.
_In front of the goddess Juno I unite my life to you, from today we will be husband and wife.
April didn't say anything, she simply remained silent, not knowing what to do or what to say.
The king gave her a glass of wine and said to her.
_Baby.
April did what he told her to do, the king did the same, then he put the cup on a table and with a dagger that was on the table he made a small cut, spilling blood on a parchment and told April to do the same, when the blood of the two mixed, the parchment shone and a mark appeared on April's left hand and Alessandro's left hand.
It was a mark that united them as a couple, the mark could not be erased and the only time it disappeared was when one of the two died, freeing the other from their commitment, from their oath before the goddess.
April looked at the mark on her hand, it was like a tattoo of a bright golden color like the gold that stood out on her white skin.
He told her.
_You are my wife now, I expect you to behave like one.
The king did not kiss her, nor did he take her hand, he was supposed to do those two things, but he decided to omit it, she knew what that meant, even if you are my wife I will not treat you as such.
At that moment April made a small bow and said.
_I will be in your care from now on.
Alessandro walked towards the exit angrily, Abril followed him silently while all the hate-filled gazes focused on her.
Alessandro got into the carriage that was waiting for them at the entrance, Abril stood in front of the carriage, Alessandro told her from inside the carriage.
_ Aren't you going to go up? April got into the carriage, the coachman set off immediately.
Alessandro closed his eyes, just seeing her made him furious and wanted to take her delicate neck in his hands and break it.
The kingdom of Cosset had suffered greatly because of the king of Laios, after years of war one day the king of Laios sent a messenger asking for a truce through the bond of marriage, the kingdom of Cosset had suffered greatly because of the war, in the end she had no choice but to accept the marriage.
When they arrived at the palace, Alessandro got out of the carriage first and told one of the servants to guide the princess to her room.
There were no banquets or dances for the wedding, which was something that instead of making her feel sad or angry, made April feel relieved since she could go straight to rest, something she deeply desired since she still felt bad about the trip.
A maid guided her through the corridors of that magnificent castle and took her to a room.
_This will be your room, please do not go out alone, if you need anything pull the rope next to your bed and I will come immediately.
April looked at the exquisite room they had given her, apparently she was also a prisoner there, although she was glad that her prison was more beautiful than the previous one, before the maid left April asked her to bring her something light to eat and a basket of fruit.
The maid nodded and left.
April checked the room it was a room worthy of a princess, then she took off her veil and the ornaments from her hair, the ornaments were heavy and gave her a severe headache, then she tried to take off her dress, but she couldn't do it on her own, she had to wait for the maid to return to ask for her help.
With nothing else to do April took off the uncomfortable shoes that had been squeezing her feet and threw herself onto the bed, it was so soft and fluffy that April felt as if she were sleeping on a cloud, she didn't remember having such a soft bed in her entire life, she looked at the ceiling of the room and thought.
I think I'll have a good life here.
