Chapter One
Alexa’s POV
I walked down the road until a black car blocked my path.
Is that a kidnapper?
Feeling scared, I turned to head the other way but stopped at the sound of a voice.
“Hey, Cupcake!” I let out a relieved sigh and turned to see Felix calling out to me from his car. He hopped out and leaned against it.
I walked towards him with a mix of anger and fear and gave him a punch on his chest. I knew he wouldn’t feel it, but my knuckles stung. Trying to hide the pain, I kept an angry expression and glared at him.
“You scared me!” I exclaimed. He chuckled, and that made my knees feel weak.
Am I getting sick? Why am I feeling like this?
“Scared? Of me?” he asked in surprise. I opened my mouth to answer but remembered I needed to go home.
“You know what? I have better things to do than stand in the middle of the road talking to you. Bye.” I tried to walk past him, but he grabbed my arm.
“If you want, we can go talk in a cafe,” he suggested with a smirk. “And what could be better than this?” he raised an eyebrow.
“Going home,” I stated.
“Let me give you a ride,” he said. His words made my thoughts pause.
“But it’s just a few blocks away,” I said. Ignoring my words, he took my hand and led me to the passenger side of his car.
“Sit.” I shook my head. “Get in, or I’ll pick you up and put you in myself,” he warned, and I knew he wasn’t joking.
So I got in. He closed the door, got in the driver’s seat, and drove.
The drive was quiet, yet strangely comfortable. There was something about him that made me feel at ease, unlike with other people.
When we reached my house, I took out my keys, aware that he was watching me.
“Are you alone?” he asked. I looked up and nodded.
“But you’re not invited inside,” I added. He chuckled.
“I was going to ask if you’d like some ice cream. But—”
“Are you paying?” I asked, grinning. He raised an eyebrow, then smiled.
“Sure.”
Now we stood in front of an ice cream parlor. I grinned like a kid who found a house made of chocolate when I entered.
Felix watched me the whole time, a smile on his face. It didn’t make me uncomfortable, but it did make me self-conscious.
Why is he staring at me?
I told Felix my order, and he placed the orders. I’ve never liked ordering for myself for some reason.
He handed me my butterscotch cone, and we walked out, eating our ice creams. Felix climbed onto the hood of his car, patting the spot next to him for me to sit.
“Come on,” he said. I handed him my cone, telling him to hold it for me. He did. I climbed up and sat, taking the cone back.
“Wait—” he began, but I bit into the ice cream before he could finish.
Since when did my butterscotch ice cream taste like chocolate?
I looked at my cone and realized it wasn’t mine. It was his. I blushed. Eating his ice cream gave me a fluttery feeling in my stomach.
“Sorry,” I mumbled. He smirked and took a bite of my ice cream.
“It’s alright.”
And so, we enjoyed our swapped ice creams.

“Bye, Felix,” I said as I got out of the car. He smiled. As I approached my door, I realized I left my phone in his car. Luckily, he was still there.
“Sorry, I forgot my phone,” I told him. He smirked.
That mischievous smirk.
“No problem. Here,” he handed it to me. I thanked him and watched him drive away from my window, a smile forming as I thought of him.
••••
It was nighttime, and I was getting ready for bed. The door opened, and my mom walked in.
“Hey, honey.” She smiled, and I smiled back.
Even though my parents aren’t around, I know they love me.
“Hey, Mom.”
“I spoke with your father. He said he’ll be back in a few days,” she said with a smile.
“When is he coming back?”
“Probably next Sunday,” she said with a hint of sadness. My mood dropped. I haven’t seen him in weeks. She smiled and sat on my bed. “I know he’s been busy lately, but he’s trying to make things better for us. He loves you, you know that, right?”
I nodded. “Yeah, I love him too.” She chuckled and kissed my forehead before leaving for her room.
As I turned off the lights, my phone buzzed.
Mr. Hotty:
Missing me?
I frowned at the message.
Me:
Who’s this?
The response came quickly.
Mr. Hotty:
I knew you were a bit slow, but I didn’t realize you were this slow!
Why is this person calling me slow? Do I know them?
Mr. Hotty:
But you’re cute...😉
Then I remembered Felix’s smirk when he returned my phone.
So it’s him!
Me:
And you’re arrogant.
I rolled my eyes. His reply followed.
Mr. Hotty:
So you finally remembered me? Good.
I wasn’t sure how to respond. Deciding to end the conversation, I typed:
Me:
I need to sleep. Good night.
Mr. Hotty:
Alright. Good night.
And dream about me. 😉
I smiled at the winky face and went to sleep
