Chapter 1059 What Did You Say?
With a bang, Jeffrey, who hadn’t gripped it firmly, watched them as the coffee
cup slipped from his hands and fell to the ground.
He looked at Gideon in disbelief. “What did you say?”
“She’s pregnant,” Gideon repeated while Lena glanced at him suspiciously.
Jeffrey had originally thought that Lena was just Gideon’s girlfriend, and he
was overjoyed about Gideon bringing someone home for the first time. He
was utterly unprepared to be hit by such a bombshell, and it seemed to rattle
him.
“Are you out of your mind?” Jeffrey stared at Gideon in panic. “Or have you
already got married and just haven’t informed us?”
Enter title...
Gideon shook his head. “Not yet.”
Jeffrey grew more serious and patted Gideon’s shoulder solemnly. “I’ll get an
ICU ready for you.”
His gaze then fell on Lena. “It seems Gideon really has deep feelings for
you.”
Gideon frowned and glared at him, prompting Jeffrey to drop the subject and
stand up. “There are a few more dishes that haven’t been served. I’ll go hurry
them up.”

After Jeffrey left, Lena looked at Gideon curiously. “Why did your uncle react
so strongly?”
Noticing her curiosity, Gideon spoke helplessly. “There’s an aunt of mine who
suffered a broken relationship because she got pregnant before marriage, so
the elders in my family don’t really support these things.”
Gideon spoke vaguely, but Lena sensed that the reality would be more
complicated. If it was just the elders not being very supportive, why would
Jeffrey have such a strong reaction?
No matter how much she pressed for answers, Gideon was unwilling to
continue speaking. “I can handle these matters. I don’t want them to affect
your judgment.”
Lena immediately realized that the issue was probably not as trivial as he
made it sound. Since Gideon was unwilling to talk about it, she did not
continue to press him.
When Jeffrey came back with the servers bringing the food, he saw Lena
sitting there eating while Gideon watched her with a smile.
The atmosphere between the two was very affectionate and seemed different
from what he had imagined.
He had thought that during his absence, Gideon would tell her the truth and
that she might be touched to tears or at least show some different emotions at

this time.
But now, it appeared that things had not developed as he had expected.
When Lena went to the restroom, Jeffrey frowned and asked Gideon, “Didn’t
you tell her?”
Gideon softened a bit. “It was my fault at first, and I don’t want her to force
herself because of family matters.”
Jeffrey stared at him for a moment and then suddenly laughed. “It seems that
the romantic genes really do run in our family.”
He patted Gideon on the shoulder and said briskly, “Then, it’s up to you. But
since you’ve brought someone here, you should know that even if I don’t say
a word, your parents will find out sooner or later.”
Gideon looked back at him meaningfully. “How do you know I didn’t bring her
here on purpose?”
Jeffrey was taken aback for a moment, then he smiled more brightly, “Well
done! Planning a scheme against your uncle, huh?”
It was at this point that Lena happened to return, and the two men stopped
their conversation.
Distracted by Jeffrey’s interjection, Lena, who had been somewhat frightened
earlier, completely forgot about Debra, who had been taken away by the
police. Her mind was now entirely preoccupied with the thought of meeting

Gideon’s parents, no longer remembering Debra.
This was also Gideon’s intention, and seeing her slightly frowning, he quietly
smiled.
