Chapter 2382
Sophia caught the orange that was tossed her way, bursting into laughter as she peeled it and strolled into the house, munching away. She still wasn't quite comfortable in dresses. She'd thought about changing before heading out, but then Jason's words echoed in her mind, "You look great just like this!" Standing in front of the mirror, she eyed her reflection adorned in a dress and, somewhat surprisingly, found herself agreeing. She twirled, her mood instantly brightening, and smiled at her reflection.
When Jason called her, she grabbed a coat instead of her usual puffer jacket, opting for a knee-length coat this time. It was a vibrant red coat her mom had bought her for the holidays, saying it was festive for the season. Initially, she wasn't a fan, but as she was about to leave, it caught her eye in the closet. The contrast of the red coat against her black dress was striking, making Jason do a double-take when he saw her. Her chic bob haircut added an extra touch of allure and confidence.
"Let's go!" she said with a bright smile. Jason's grip on the steering wheel tightened as he glanced at her through his glasses, his dark eyes filled with a mix of anxiety, nervousness, and tender affection.
Sophia received a text from Crystal asking if she had arrived. Holding her phone, she quickly typed back, "Almost there, we're already on our way."
Jason, catching a glimpse of her message, asked in a calm voice, "Who's going to be at the party?"
"Just Crystal, Eileen, and the usual crowd, you know them," she replied promptly.
"Any guys going?" Jason asked nonchalantly.
"Shouldn't be any."
He nodded, "Drink less, avoid any wild games, and wait for me to pick you up after."
Sophia was used to Jason's reminders every time she went out. She nodded, "Got it, don't worry, they're all friends!"
"What friends?" Jason glanced at her, "In these kinds of gatherings, you can't be too careful or trust anyone completely."
"Alright, whatever you say, I'll listen
to you, happy now?" Sophia said
with a laugh. Though her tone was playful, her expression was obedient, making Jason crack a smile as he focused back on driving.
Arriving at The Night, they walked through the lobby to the elevators Sophia pressed for the third floor, turning to Jason, "I'll go on my own from here; your friends must have arrived too."
Jason looked at her, "I'm also heading to the third floor."
Sophia let out a soft chuckle, "What a coincidence!"
Jason remained expressionless, not responding. Even if he wasn't meant to be on the third floor, he'd make an excuse to be there.
As the elevator stopped, Sophia headed to room 3008, while Jason needed to go to 3001, parting ways in the corridor.
"Alright, you go do your thing. Don't bother walking me over; Crystal always teases me for being escorted like a kid to these gatherings," Sophia waved him off. "Call me if you need anything!" Jason said.
"Will do, see you later!" Sophia waved back.
Entering the room, Crystal immediately hugged her, "Sophia, I've missed you so much!"
Sophia hugged her old classmates, the reunion sparking excitement and joy among them. Crystal handed Sophia a bottle of juice, whispering, "I'm glad you're okay. I thought you'd be devastated after breaking up with Robin. Look at you, doing better than l'expected!"
