Fight for Me

Chapter Silent Morning #3

The room is mostly dark, with all the curtains drawn. Though streaks of early morning light cut into the room through the rips and tears made from her anger. The floor is covered with shards of broken glass from all the shattered mirrors.

She sits up on the bed, wide awake, with her knees drawn to her chest. Whispering nonsensical words as she scrunches up her hair in fists.

She groans loudly as she is struck with an intense pain, as she once again tries to reach out to her wolf.

Samantha knows her wolf isn’t completely gone, but she’s different. They are separate. No longer linked with the bond they were born with. Her wolf doesn’t talk to her, still didn’t heal her, and refuses to let her shift.

She feels utterly alone. Hearing nothing from her. Feeling nothing from her.

She already begged her wolf for her forgiveness for whatever she did to anger her. But still, nothing. Nothing but pain that strikes through her, as though her beating heart is being ripped from her chest.

The anger kept building. Because it didn’t matter what she tried, her wolf still abandoned her, and left her alone in the pain of her wounds slowly healing.

She knows it’s not her fault. It’s Layla’s. She did this.

She still doesn’t know how. But she does know what she saw that night of the fight. Little miss human isn’t as innocent and weak as she has everyone believe.

She sees right through Layla’s cunning deception. The way she’s working to get the brothers’ attention.

She already got between Nicholas and Rebecca. Then she dared to get Tristan all alone with her in her room, while his mate was looking all over for him. Not to mention how she was all over Anthony during the Harvest festival, parading around like some proud peacock just because she was his date that night.

That’s why Samantha took her chance that night, when she found herself alone with Anthony, and kissed him like there was no tomorrow. But Anthony started avoiding her after that because Layla kept interfering. Afterall, Anthony did kiss her back that night.

And Cody…?

Aaahhh! Another wave of pain strikes through her as she grips her chest trying to hold her pounding heart steady.

She doesn’t even know him. But her heart aches at just the thought of him.

Layla blames Samantha for his death, but she doesn’t see how. Sure, maybe she didn’t give him an official rejection. But she wanted him to reject her. She didn’t want to feel the pain that comes with rejecting one’s mate.

How is it her fault that he died? It happened in an attack. These things happen.

Nngghn! Another wave of pain hits her deep in the gut. Almost like an intense feeling of ……regret.

What pisses her off even more is that no one seems to be on her side anymore. No one believes her when she said she was in pain. All the healers say that pain is normal for wounds that heal this slow.

Even Abby and Maxim kept asking her what it is she did for Layla to have started the fight. Samantha is not surprised that they think she started it. They always think she’s the trouble maker, even when she’s the one that ends up getting hurt. All she does is trying to fight for herself and what she wants, since no one else is looking out for her.

Then she noticed that Melinda has been avoiding her for a while now as well. It’s because of Layla. She has become all buddy-buddy with Melinda recently.

Even Rebecca isn’t talking to her anymore. Though it was Samantha who went through Layla’s things and told Rebecca about the bag of money and passports, Rebecca agreed to outing Layla on her scams. Samantha just didn’t realize that Layla’s grip on Nicholas was already so tight. Rebecca kept asking her what the fight was about with Layla, but Samantha didn’t want to say. She didn’t want anyone to know about,……her supposed mate. She didn’t want Anthony to know.

Anthony. She still can’t believe his mate is some guy. But that first day the newcomers came, she saw how Anthony was trying to avoid him.

There’s still hope. Anthony will be mine. We’re perfect for each other. It was love at first sight. I’m sure he’s my second chance mate. My real mate.

Now, all she has to focus on is to get Layla out of the picture. The one person that keeps getting in between her and everyone else.

She takes her phone from the bedside table, and again looks at the unsent message on her phone containing information about the pack’s fighting strategies, and the weak points of the pack’s borders and their patrols.

She starts biting her nails again from anxiety. She knows Abby and Maxim would want them to go back to their pack soon. But Layla will be on the road soon too. She knows she can’t take the chance of waiting any longer.

Without hesitation she inputs Dr Parker’s contact number she got off the internet and hits send.

Soon. Everything will be as it should be.

Nnnngghh! She falls back on her pillow, gripping it as she screams into it. Hoping that soon this pain will all end when she gets her happy ending.

Though, she is completely unaware of the dark ominous smile, hiding in the dark shadowed corner of the room. A shadow that seems to be growing darker and bigger.
