Feral Wolf

Chapter 8

BRONTES

I couldn’t stop looking at her. Her silver hair glinting in the sun that was peeking into the pack house and the way her entrancing eyes glared up at me had my blood boiling with desire. I didn’t even care if she was mad at me. Somehow, her presence seemed to calm my wolf and I. We were content with her at our side.

When I saw that Alpha touching her it had me seeing red. My gut clenched with jealousy and my heart was twisting mischievously. I now know how she felt when she saw Clara hugging me because the moment that Alpha touched her I wanted to rip his hand off. My wolf was growling with rage inside of me. It took all of me not to kill him. Instead, I did the only thing I knew would calm me down at least. I yanked Calliope out of his touch—a little too harshly but the need to have her as mine and only mine took over.

Calliope—she was so strong, so beautiful, so unyielding and I discovered I loved those traits on her. She was a female I had never seen before and it was as if I was under a spell the moment I saw her in the cave. I am confident even without fate I would still find her just as beautiful in every shape and form. Her soft silky voice twirling around me drawn me to her. Everything about her attracts me. Her scent drives me wild and I love smelling her.

When I dragged her upstairs and she angrily tried to elude me, it only angered me more. It was like she was slipping through my fingers and I was desperate to catch her before she was all gone. This awful feeling stirred in my heart and I couldn’t let her go.

Then she said one thing that had me infuriated. She made it seem like she didn’t care if the Alpha was interested in her or not. My wolf came to the surface at our mate’s retort and holding back the urge to kiss her again seems useless so I pulled her again for a kiss—and then the defiant little female decided to ignore our kiss! I couldn’t stop myself, I needed to be sure she was mine and so I did the only thing I knew that would make her open for me.

When she fell against me, my wolf retreated slightly, allowing me more control. I broke the kiss enough for me to growl out angrily.

“You’re mine, Alpha Czar—Calliope. You are mine and I am not letting you go.”

She blinked at me before ducking under my arm and walked with a surprisingly fast pace towards in the opposite direction of her bedroom. I wasn’t going to let her go that easily. After that little encounter, my wolf and I needed to be near our mate. We needed to be assured that no other males would sniff around her. I didn’t give two shits if anyone thought I was crazy because I was crazy! She was mine!

I placed my foot right in time before the door closed. I heard her let go of the doorknob and I pushed the door open. The room was filled with her scent. I inhaled deeply as I walked over to sit in the chair across from her. She sat down opposite of me and looked through some papers.

I continued to observe her. Her delicate face might make it seem like she was weak but the scars rippling all over her body and just peeking out from under her neckline told me she was more than weak—she was strong and her strength shouldn’t be judged by her appearance.

She huffed and threw the paper on the desk, crossing her arms she leaned back in her chair and looked straight at me.

“Why are you here?” she asked.

“We need to talk and you keep avoiding me.” I replied.

“Fine. Let’s talk.” She said and stood up. She moved around her desk and moved to stand in front of me, leaning her butt against the edge of her desk. She placed her hands on the edge of the table and looked at me.

“Calliope, the female you saw earlier, I no longer have anything with her.” I started. She raised her hand up into the air.

“Brontes, the Alpha you saw earlier, I never had any sexual contact with him.” She replied back coolly and my heart twisted with jealousy. The image of them together sexually had me seeing red. I glared up at her.

“You will not be having sex with him!” I growled out, feeling my blood boiling in my veins, making my body warm.

“Did I say that?” she asked, arching an eyebrow at me.

“I don’t care!” I gritted out. “Besides, Clara is no harm to you.”

“Okay.” She said and shrugged her shoulders before crossing her arms in front of her. “I can say the same thing to you. Alpha Altair is no harm to you.”

“Yes he is!” I snarled out and stood up—unable to sit down any longer because the mere thought of that male had my skin crawling with fur.

“How?” she asked, watching me pace.

“I saw the way he looks at you. He fucking wants you.” I growled angrily before gripping her chair and taking huge breaths. “He wants you and I will never let that happen. You’re mine, Calliope.”

She gave a snort and then stood up to walk away from me. My eyes followed her as she walked back around her desk and looked out the glass window. She didn’t turn to me when she spoke.

“I saw the way she looked at you too. She wants you. If you don’t see it then you’re just as blind as I am.” She said softly. I stiffened at her admission. I thought about the things Clara and I went through. I searched my feelings and I knew deep inside that Calliope was right.

I sighed and walked around the chair to her. I wrapped my arms around her tiny body and surprisingly she didn’t fight me. She fell back against my body and she fit perfectly. She was definitely made for me.

“What do you want to do?” I asked.

“I am going to send her away.” She replied. I sighed and wrapped my arms tighter around her. I was already agreeing to her decision. She had this effect on me that made me want to do everything to make her happy and to have her look only at me.

“Where?” I asked.

“To a different pack. I will find a good place for her. You won’t have to worry but I can’t stay under the same roof as someone you slept with. You wouldn’t want the same if I slept with someone and he was living amongst us.” She replied. My body stiffened and the thought of any of the males being with her intimately made me swallow hard. She patted my arms, which were wrapped around her.

“I hope I don’t have to kill any of your pack members.” I muttered.

She gave a small laugh. “Well...there is this-”

“I’m killing him.” I said immediately. She turned to me and her eyes turned back to that normal glint in her eyes that had me captivated as ever.

“I’m kidding, Brontes. So, are you okay with me sending Clara away?” she asked.

“Only if whenever you are with Alpha Altair, I am there with you.”

She shook her head and spoke, “I don’t know what you have against him. He is pretty handsome for an Alpha.”

I growled at her comment on the Alpha before she pushed me back out the door so that she could finish some propositions. I reluctantly let her go but it resulted in standing in front of her office door, guarding her. The need to be possessive, and protect what was mine, wouldn’t let me leave her side. I never felt this way before. I have always been holed up in the dark cave, until I met Calliope, and she was like a breath of fresh air. It was different and I liked it.
