Falling For His Unwanted Wife by Miss Cloe

Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Farren’s POV

I was in complete disbelief. “I can’t believe that woman is bothering me again,I sighed, taking a seat to try and calm myself down. When I confronted Eugene about why he was stalking me, sending threats, and even damaging my car, he claimed that he was being paid by Julie, my stepmother.

“Now that Grandfather is gone, that shameless woman thinks she can bully me,” I muttered. It was absolutely despicable. Not only did she seduce my father and tear our family apart, but she had the audacity to mess with me once again.

I’m not the type to seek useless revenge. I preferred to live a peaceful life. However, my stepfamily wouldn’t leave me alone because of the money involved. “I only worried about Dominic.”

Dominic, my stepbrother and the only sane person in that family was the reason I didn’t take action against my stalker. It would only create chaos if the police got involved and apprehended his mother.

Furthermore, Eugene’s dire financial situation compelled him to reluctantly accept the job.

“Should I just send that woman to jail?” I pondered.

After regaining my composure, I departed from the office and made my way back to the parking lot.

Eugene had made a promise to me, assuring me that he would leave his job at this company and vanish from my life forever. Naturally, I had anticipated that Eugene would have long departed from the premises and left me in peace.

To my surprise, however, as I arrived at the parking lot, I laid eyes on a completely different individual.

“Alaric?” I exclaimed, taken aback.

My husband, Alaric, was startled as he turned to face me. At that moment, he seemed like a guilty thief caught red–handed.

What on earth was he doing here?

Bewildered, I cautiously approached him. There was no one else in the parking lot

except the two of us.

I inquired, “What brings you here?”

Alaric stood tall, avoiding eye contact as he cleared his throat. Without turning to face me, he responded, “I had some business to attend to in this location.”

If he has business here, then our encounter must be purely coincidental.

Chuckling at my foolish assumption that he came out of concern for me, I thought, And here I am, creating illusions in my mind.”

“Alright then, I’ll head back,” I stated. As I began to walk past him, Alaric suddenly grasped my hand and pulled me back to where I had originally stood.

Taken aback, I stared at him in surprise.

Alaric furrowed his brow, his gaze fixed on my hand.

He observed the bruise on my wrist and the blood on my knuckles and remarked, “You got hurt.”

The bruise occurred when I accidentally collided with the side mirror of a car, and the bloody knuckles were a result of my altercation with Eugene.

I was so engrossed in the situation that I didn’t even realize I had sustained these injuries.

Alaric, who was still holding my hand, suggested, “You should go to the hospital.”

I brushed off his concern and replied, “It’s nothing serious. I can just treat it at home.” However, Alaric insisted, “Then, let me help you. I’ll treat your wound.”

“No,” I declined, pulling my hand out of his grasp. “You said you have business here. I don’t want to take your time.”

Moreover, I didn’t want to misinterpret his intentions and end up feeling even more upset.

“Then, I will leave now.” I grabbed the car key and unlocked Max’s car.

As I turned around to open the door and get in, Alaric’s question caught me off guard and made me pause.

“Whose car is that?”

I paused and gazed at my husband, who was fixated on the black car I borrowed from my friend’s brother. He scowled as he examined the car, then shifted his attention back to me. “Whose car is that?” he asked, his tone filled with suspicion.

I couldn’t understand why he was acting so strangely. Nevertheless, I replied, “It belongs to my friend’s brother. He kindly let me borrow it because something happened to my

own car.”

His forehead furrowed even more. “What happened to your car?”

Should I tell him the truth?

No.

I didn’t want to involve him in my family matters.

“It’s broken,” I replied. “It’s currently being repaired.”

“Why is it broken?” he asked once more.

Why does he have so many questions?

I took a deep breath before answering, “Isn’t it normal for things to break? It’s just a natural part of life.”

He pursed his l*ps, and his jaw tightened as if he was holding back something. Alaric lowered his head, but when he looked up again, his l*ps parted. “You should have told me that you needed a car. I have plenty of them. Instead of asking some random guy out there, you could have just asked for my help. Is that too difficult for

you?”

It’s really surprising to see someone like Alaric react this way. I mean, he was the one who made it clear that we should keep our distance and only pretend to be a couple in public.

Is this because of his ego?

I shook my head.

“Look,” I said. “I apologize if I bruised your ego. I had no idea that my husband had a bunch of cars and that you were willing to, you know, lend me one. But no worries. The folks at the repair shop told me I could pick up my car tomorrow. I’ll return this car to its owner later.”

Alaric seemed like he wanted to say something, but he quickly closed his mouth. without uttering a word.

“Well then, if you’ll excuse me.” I hopped into the car and closed the door.

As I drove away, I glanced at Alaric through the side mirror.

He was looking in my direction, but I couldn’t make out his expression until he disappeared from view.
