Evil Angels

Chapter 13

Emma’s POV

I paced around the store trying to sort out my thoughts.

I swear I am not misremembering. I know what I saw.

I stared down the aisle where all the canned food is stacked.

I can’t believe Mr. Brown died right there.

“Emma?”

Andy came up behind me, “How are you holding up?”

“I am fine, Andy. Thank you.”

“Oh sweetie, a man died a week ago in the parking lot on your shift. Now, that sheriff is all over you. Just please tell me if you need anything. You are worrying me pacing around like this.”

He didn’t die in the parking lot.

I turned to face him, “I am doing fine, Andy. I just need to make some coffee.”

He nodded, “Okay, I will make it for you but you sit down in the rocking chair and calm down.”

I nodded and did as I was told and sat down. I gazed out the window watching some owls flying in the moonlight.

She had wings… They were big and almost looked like a bat’s. But why was she denying everything.

Duh… she was trying to hide her true self. I am a moron. If I had wings would I want everyone to know?

Still what is she?

Andy broke me out of my thoughts by handing me some coffee, “Look Emma, how about we close up early tonight? I have to get going and you need some sleep.”

I shook my head, “It’s okay. I like working here. You go do what you have to and I will close up.”

He smiled, “Alright then. Have a good night, Emma.”

“You too.”

He left while I finished my coffee and cleaned up a bit. About thirty minutes later, I locked up the store and walked out the back to my car.

A chill ran over me causing me to rub my hands together.

It sure is cold tonight.

Right as I was about to get in my truck, I dropped my keys and reached down to pick them up. Not only did I find my keys but I found a few drops of what looked like blood leading from the middle of the back parking lot to the forest behind me.

Don’t die Emma.

I decided to investigate even though my brain told me no. I followed the trail to the back of my truck and jumped back when I found the source.

Laying on the ground covered in blood was the girl with her wings spread out and horns on top of her head with a long tail laying flat on the ground next to her.

Alexandra’s POV

Five minutes earlier…

I laid on the ground looking up at the moonlight. I felt the cold of my blood around me and on my skin. My wing, which I am pretty sure is broken, was burning along with the side of my body.

That fucking angel attacked me.

Larus had warned me about angels. They were selfish and would do anything to collect souls even when the soul deserves to go to hell. All they cared about were the praise they received from their masters when they would bring a new soul to the heavens. And that is exactly what this angel wanted. He attacked me from behind while I was pushing a soul to hell. The angel stole the soul from me and then left me here.

At least I got a few good hits off on that bastard. And he took the body.

“Larus!”

I have been trying to call to Larus for ten minutes now but nothing is working. I can barely move and I can’t morph back into my human.

I hope someone doesn’t see me.

Right then I heard someone walking towards me.

Well shit I jinxed it.

A girl came behind the truck and jumped back when they saw me.

Thank Satan, it’s that Emma girl. At least she has seen this form before.

She knelt down beside me, “Oh my god! What happened to you?!”

I hissed out in pain when she skimmed her fingers over my wing. She immediately retracted her hand, “Sorry.”

“Don’t worry about it. You can just leave me here. I will be fine.”

“No you won’t! You are covered in your own blood and your wing is twisted up… you are coming with me.”

She reached underneath me and began to lift me up enough to drag me. I gritted my teeth when my wing was being dragged on the ground.

“I am sorry but I need to put you in the back of my truck.”

I nodded my head and tried to help her out but the pain was getting too much. About a couple minutes of intense pain later, I was in the truck and she was jumping in the front.

“Larus… please. Help me.”

There was still no response from him and I was beginning to feel blood pooling around me again.

Where is this even coming from?!

“Larus! I don’t want to die.”

I spent the next twenty minutes trying to talk to Larus. But nothing was working. We soon pulled up to her cabin and she dragged me out of the back again, “There is so much blood. Do you know where you got hit?”

I coughed, “He first hit my head then the rest of the times he went for my wing.”

That bastard better be careful. I am going to be looking for him now. Wait until Larus hears about this.

She dragged me into her house and then lifted me onto her table, “Stay here. I will go get the med kit.”

She disappeared then came back with a black bag and began searching through it, “Here, I am going to roll you over so I can look at your wing.”

She flipped me over and gasped.

“What?”

Her fingers skimmed over the part where my wing connected to my back and a jolt of pain ran through me, “Your wing is part way ripped off. That’s where all the blood is coming from.”

I immediately felt my evil push forward, “I am going to kill that bastard for this!”

Emma flinched at the tone of my voice but then pulled out some supplies to fix my wing, “I will patch this up for you but you are going to answer my questions in return… this is gonna hurt.”

She cut the clothes from around my wings off then poured something on my back and I screamed out in pain. She did some other stuff but finally I felt her sew it up and wrap it. She then looked over my wing and sewed up a few scratches in the middle as well.

She stood back, “That should be good. I stopped the bleeding and patched it up. Also you might have a concussion from where he hit you. Other than that, you need to just lay here a rest.”

I smiled, “Thank you… where you learn how to do this anyway?”

She packed up her bag, “Both my parents were the doctors in this town so I kind of picked it up from them… Now, it is time to answer my questions.”
