Dream Partners: New Dimensions (Book 3)

Chapter 26: A New Generation

The game concluded, with a fairly sober, Jay Winning, and two drunken women one of which was his wife and her still irresponsible best friend. Andrea giggled and said "I want a rematch...you cheated" and jay smiled and said, "nope, I just can hold my liquor better than you two". Andrea attempted to walk over to. Jay, but fell and somehow managed to twist her ankle really hard which caused her to yelp in pain. Jay shook his head before picking her up and carrying her into the bedroom and using his powers to heal her. After healing her, he picked up the black comatose Paula and carried her into a guest room before heading to check on his daughter.

Jay walked into the room and saw her sitting in her little thrown chair, watching star vs the forces of evil alone since Carlos had to leave. Jay snuck up on her and picked her up with a smile on his face and said "hey sweetie, did you like your party today" and she smiled and said, "yes there was cake and party games and pizza!".Jay chuckled and said "calm down...are you ready for school tomorrow?" and Victoria looked away and said "yes" and jay sat her down and said, "I know when you're lying so spill it". Victoria sighed and said "I'm nervous about how the kids will view me and Carlos's friendship" and jay laughed and said, "ignore them and follow your heart but also be fair to your friends as well and do neglect them...and if anything goes wrong I'll just wipe everyone's memory". Victoria hugged him and said thanks, daddy, I will be fine I promise" and Jay smiled and said, "good now, go brush your teeth and get ready for bed". Victoria nodded and went to go brush her teeth. When she came back, she watched television for another hour before falling asleep.

After tidying up the card room, Jay went to go check on Julie, who was down in the basement watching television now. She muted the TV and said "what's up" and he said, "I was just going to say that you can head back home if you want to, now that Victoria is asleep". Julie smiled and said "my daughter's blackout drunk isn't she? " Jay smiled and said, "you know it and she managed to break her ankle". Julie laughed and said, "in that case, I'll stay over for a few days to make sure things transition back to normal smoothly...she deserves a break anyways, I'm getting tired of this retirement life if we're being honest". Jay said "well, Andrea and I will need all the help we can get with raising a super-powered daughter" and Julie smiled and said "I will be here every step of the way to annoy you both" and Jay smiled and said "I wouldn't have it any other way" before he headed back upstairs.

When he walked into the room, Andrea was sitting up, staring aimlessly at the ceiling before her eyes focused on him. He smiled and said "glad you're fully conscious my habanero" and she said "Where were you at?" and he said "downstairs talking to your mom, she's gonna stay with us a few days so you can relax more" and Andrea said, "no she's done enough for me". Jay said, "she told me she's tired of retirement and wants to feel useful again...just please bear with her... she's never been wrong before". Andrea said, "damn, you're right... I guess I could be lazy for a bit". Jay smiled and said "that's the spirit, before kissing her cheek and laying next to her while reading his book. Before he could finish reading the first page, Andrea had burrowed into his chest and fell asleep with a smile on her face. He kissed her forehead and read for a bit more before he sat the book down and went to sleep as well.

The next morning, Andrea and Jay slept in as Julie woke Victoria up, and got her ready for school, and dropped her off, before heading back and making breakfast for the two drunken, adult children upstairs. Meanwhile, at school, Victoria was fighting her own battles but she wasn't alone. Her and Carlos went their separate ways as they had different classes, but at recess, they hung out with each other, and despite the other children laughing and poking fun at them, they continued their normal routines. After about a week it became old news and people widely accepted a boy and a girl could be just friends...and many followed after them and even Victoria and Carlos's friends hung out with them as a huge group but they both made it known that they wouldn't let anything ruin their friendship.

Meanwhile back at home, Andrea and Jay got their old groove back and their marriage was 3x better than it was before. This was because Julie had grown tired of retirement and decided to share the responsibilities of the family business with Andrea as well as watching Victoria at least once a week so jay and Andrea could have date nights. As for Carlos and Victoria...Well, their adventures were just beginning and no matter what happened, they knew they could handle it as long as they were by each other's side and were the greatest of friends.
