Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 564

She opened the drawer. Inside were all her things-her old lipsticks, some dried up but still neatly lined up. There were also relics from her past, like the broken watch from her school days and a missing necklace, all tucked away in a delicate box. Chloe felt a wave of confusion. She distinctly remembered tossing those broken items in the trash. Why on earth had Linda fished them out and kept them all these years? Was it some twisted reminder of Chloe's humiliating days by her side? Chloe couldn't wrap her head around it. As she rummaged through, she stumbled upon a small medicine bottle with a Latin label. Chloe didn't recognize it, so she popped it open for a look. Linda was pregnant, so why was she still on meds? Chloe's curiosity piqued. She snapped a photo and sent it to Winston, asking him to identify the medicine.

In just three minutes, Winston got back to her. The drug was for heart disease but had been pulled from the market long ago due to significant side effects, especially for men. Chloe probed further about these side effects, but Winston didn't reply immediately. Instead, he sent over a report, a past Lancet article detailing the medication's side effects.

Chloe read through it and discovered that long-term use could impair a man's sexual function. Another side effect was lips turning purple and a pale complexion. Chloe was baffled. Why would Linda have this drug? Her gut told her there was something shady going on. Soon enough, the butler called Chloe for dinner. She got up, but not before slipping the medicine bottle into her bag. After dinner, it was pretty late. Chloe said her goodbyes, and Tara, expecting Lucas and the others back soon, didn't insist she stay.

As Chloe stepped outside, she

bumped into Lucas and Linda at the villa's entrance. Their faces were a mix of emotions upon seeing her Linda with her pregnant belly, approached with a surprised expression. "Chloe, what are you doing here?" she asked.

Chloe shot her a glance, "Linda, with all the rooms in the Moncada house, why do you have to take mine? Would it kill you not to take my stuff?" Linda's expression faltered, but she quickly masked it with innocence.

"Chloe, you're mistaken. Lucas and I are married now. I'm the lady of the house and can choose any room I please," Linda said, glancing at Lucas. "Right, Luca?"

Lucas looked worn out, his face pale,

lips tinged purple-a detail that suddenly connected in Chloe's mind with the symptoms she'd read about. Her suspicions were nearly confirmed; the medicine was for Lucas. Did he actually have heart disease? Even if he did, he shouldn't be on that drug. Chloe had a hunch.

Ignoring Linda, Lucas turned to Chloe. "Chloe did my mom ask you to come back?" It had to be Tara, hoping Chloe would talk some sense into him. She'd been causing a fuss, refusing food and drink. Lucas knew she'd turn to Chloe-she'd always been Tara's ideal daughter-in-law. Oddly, Lucas found himself hoping for it.

Chloe, however, kept her tone cool. "Lucas, I need to talk to you."
