Chapter Divorcing 111

Chapter 111 The Truth of the Past

1/4

Michael frowned slightly, “Wasn’t it just Tiffany having an affair with your father and giving birth to Lucy?”

“Just an affair?” Chloe was so furious that she looked up and took deep breaths.

She had never felt the air so thin for her.

“Do you know that at my father’s funeral, they exposed the truth of his affair in front of all the relatives, leaving my mother humiliated? Then they took all the money left by my father and moved abroad, leaving a pile of debts for my mother and me. Is that also ‘just an affair‘ to you?”

Chloe had long been disappointed in him, but she had never expected him to side with Lucy and accuse her with such a lack of moral bottom line.

They were still in the hospital room, and although Wendy had been given a sedative, Chloe was worried about disturbing her.

She didn’t want Wendy to hear these old memories, not even in her dreams.

“Anyone has the right to tell me to let

right to tell me to let go, but not you, and certainly not Lucy and Tiffany!”

She regained some of her rationality and turned her head away

from Michael.

Michael was completely unaware of what she was talking about.

He had thought that Charles had just had an affair and that it had nothing to do with Lucy. He had no idea that Lucy and Tiffany had done such a terrible thing to Chloe back then!

He immediately felt a wave of regret for not understanding the truth of the matter.

Married for three years, even through hearing from nurses and doctors, he had a general idea of how Wendy’s illness had come about.

It was said that she had suffered a severe shock that led to her

breakdown.

At the time, he thought Chloe had inherited Wendy’s fragility, that she was so desperate over a man that she would go to such lengths.

Now he realized that it wasn’t just about a man.

When Wendy was not having an episode, she was no different from anyone else.

Even though Michael didn’t visit her often, he knew that Wendy was someone who valued her dignity and had extremely high standards for herself.

So how devastated she must have been to face the ridicule of all

“Back then, my father always said that Lucy and Tiffany were the widows of his colleagues. Wendy and I treated them like family, but what did we get in return? We were the only ones kept in the dark.

“The last thing Lucy said to me in front of the mourning hall was, ‘You will never surpass me.

With that, Chloe looked faintly at Michael beside her. “Do you also think I can’t surpass her in anything?”

Of course, that was what he thought.

Otherwise, why would he unhesitatingly stand on Lucy’s side countless times before today?

He blamed her for being unenlightened and petty countless

times.

He told her countless times that she was annoying and that she should learn to be sensible like Lucy.

Just thinking about it made her want to laugh.

It didn’t matter what he asked her to learn, but he actually wanted her to learn from a mistress!

Michael moved his lips, wanting to say something, but before he could speak, Chloe interrupted him.

“I don’t want to see you right now. Please leave.”

She thought Wendy probably wouldn’t want to see him either!

On the way back, Michael sat in the car, rubbing his brow with at bit of a headache.

He didn’t expect Lucy to be that kind of person.

It was completely different from the Lucy he knew.

He also couldn’t believe that a classmate who had always stood out since college, a colleague with solid business capabilities, and a considerate and gentle friend could be such a malicious person as Chloe described.

He thought, “Could it be that the Lucy in front of him was all an act?”
