Chapter 80 A DNA Test
Cynthia never expected Luna to be so disdainful toward Colton. Nonetheless, she was so angered over the latter’s attitude that she snorted a laugh. “I never taught the kids anything. These are all their own thoughts.”
Noncommittal, Colton took two paper bags from Timothy’s hand. “These are gifts for you.”
Luna didn’t even spare it a glance but turned her head away. “I don’t want anything from you.”
Colton’s expression instantly darkened. “Is this what your mother taught you?”
“That’s enough.” Cynthia glared at Colton. “I don’t need your opinion on my child. Please leave, Mr. Zeller.”
“Exactly! We don’t care about you!” Luna chimed in loudly, only to be silenced by Cynthia. “Luna! Don’t be rude.”
Luna’s eyes flickered. She then ran over to Colton and flashed him a conspicuously insincere smile. “Goodbye, mister! You’re a busy man, so you should focus on work. There’s no need to come next time.”
Colton silently stared at her for a moment before he left the hospital room with a gloomy expression.
Watching his retreating figure, Cynthia frowned slightly. How could he be the type to give up so easily?
Stay in the room, and don’t wander out. I’ll be back shortly.” After some thought, Cynthia decided to follow Colton out. She needed to see with her own eyes that he had indeed left.
As if aware someone was tailing him, Colton took a long stroll around the hospital before he reluctantly headed back.
At that, Cynthia’s brows inexorably furrowed. As she watched him climb into the suddenly glanced in her direction and flashed her a faint smile.

Cynthia’s heart jolted and lodged into her throat.
She swiftly spun around and bolted toward the direction of the ward. Panting heavily, she pushed open the doors of Lukas and Luna’s hospital room.
At that moment, Lukas was seated on the bed, telling Luna a story. Seeing Cynthia in such a frantic state, he was inevitably startled. “Mommy, what’s wrong?”

Upon seeing Lukas and Luna unharmed, Cynthia finally breathed a sigh of relief. “I’m fine. I was just worried about you two being in danger in the hospital room.”
Lukas and Luna looked at each other, both bursting into laughter. “We were safe here! A nurse even came by earlier and helped Luna comb her hair!”
Cynthia was just about to nod when she abruptly stilled.
She looked at Lukas and Luna with a serious expression. “Did you just say a nurse came by?”
Luna nodded and showed off her braid to Cynthia, “Mommy, look! Ms. Nurse did this for
me!”
Cynthia pursed her lips. It took her a while before she managed to force a smile. “Your hair is beautiful, Luna!”
She distinctly remembered the head nurse mentioning earlier that day that the hospital would be having a staff meeting, so the frequency and number of nurses making the rounds would be significantly reduced. As such, she was told to inform them in advance if there were any special needs.
Suppressing the heaviness in her heart, Cynthia asked about the nurse offhandedly, “Did Ms. Nurse also perform some procedure on Lukas?”
Lukas, with his sharp intuition, sensed that something was amiss. “Has something happened?”
Cynthia would never voice her thoughts and worry the two children. She shook her head at Lukas, saying, “No, everything’s fine. I merely want to ask the nurse how to style Luna’s hair better.”
Only then did Lukas breathe a sigh of relief. “Ms. Nurse also took a bit of blood from my fingertip.”
Cynthia’s expression instantly darkened. She distinctly remembered that Lukas had no examinations scheduled that day, let alone anything that involved drawing blood.
No wonder Colton left so readily. It turns out he had a backup plan.
She was then certain that Colton sent someone to collect samples from the two children for à DNA test.
Fortunately, she had prepared thoroughly in advance, saving her from being duped by the
man.
In the car, Timothy reported the progress of things with Colton.
