Chapter 96

Christiana’s POV

The hotel suite felt like both a refuge and a reminder of everything we’d been through. It was supposed to be a temporary safe haven, but with each passing day, it started to feel like we were living on borrowed time.

The kids were in the next room with the nanny, and I was grateful for the few moments of peace. But even in the quiet, the tension hummed just beneath the surface.

Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Marcus’s face..the moment I realized the man who kidnapped me was the same person I’d helped years ago.

He had let me go, but not before I saw the regret in his eyes. Marcus had been conflicted, torn between loyalty to Bianca an the debt he felt he owed me.

When he put me in that cab, he didn’t say much, but his actions spoke louder than words. It was Bianca behind everything. Her obsession with Alex had finally spiraled out of control.

The knock on the door startled me from my thoughts. Daniel Brooks stepped inside, looking more tired than usual. His clothes were a little more rumpled than normal, and his expression was serious, bordering on grim.

“Christiana, he began softly, sitting down across from me, “we need to talk.”

Inodded, bracing myself for whatever he had to say. Daniel wasn’t the type to mince words, and right now, I didn’t have the energy for small talk.

T’ve been thinking about everything that’s happened,” he continued, rubbing the back of his neck like he was trying to figur out how to phrase things delicately. “The kidnapping, Bianca… all of it.”

I felt a wave of unease. “What are you getting at?”

He exhaled, leaning forward. “This all comes back to Alex. None of this would’ve happened if it wasn’t for him”

The words hit me like a slap. I stared at him, not sure I’d heard correctly. “What?”

“It’s Bianca,” he said, his tone growing more urgent. “She’s his ex. She’s doing this because she wants him back, Christiana. She’s obsessed, and you’re caught in the middle. The kidnapping, the threats–it’s all because of her jealousy.”

I shook my head, trying to process what he was saying. “Daniel, Alex didn’t ask for any of this. He didn’t make Bianca do these things.”

“No, but he didn’t stop her either, Daniel said bluntly. “He didn’t protect you from her. You’re here, in a hotel with your kid because Bianca can’t let go of him. And Alex… well, maybe he didn’t do enough to keep her out of your lives.”

My stomach twisted. Deep down, I knew there was some truth in what Daniel was saying, but I didn’t want to admit it. I wanted to believe Alex had done everything he could to keep us safe. But Bianca’s obsession with him had put us in danger, and I couldn’t ignore that.

Daniel’s voice softened, but it still held a quiet anger. “She’s been after you because of him, Christiana. You almost died because of her. You and the kids.. you could’ve been gone

I closed my eyes, the weight of his words settling over me like a heavy blanket. My mind flashed back to the night Marcus had taken me. The fear, the helplessness, the uncertainty of whether I’d ever see my children again. And now, knowing Bianca was behind it all–in made my skin crawl.

Just then, my phone buzzed on the table, shattering the tense silence, I reached for it, my hands trembling as I read the

message. One of my bodyguards had sent me an update. My breath caught in my throat as I saw the words.

Bianca is responsible for the fire. Police have confirmed it. She’s in custody now.

The room seemed to tilt slightly as the realization hit me. Bianca had been behind the fire too. The fire that nearly took my children from me she had done that. How could someone be so heartless? How could someone go to such extremes?

I stood up, pacing the room, trying to contain the surge of anger that was quickly overtaking the shock. “It was her, I muttered under my breath, the words barely audible. “It was Bianca.”

Daniel looked at me, concem etched on his face. “What do you mean?”

I turned to him, my voice sharper now, the rage bubbling up to the surface. “She’s the one who set the fire at my apartment. She tried to kill us. She’s been playing this twisted game all along, and now she’s locked up, like none of this ever happened!”

Daniel’s eyes widened as the gravity of what I was saying sunk in. She… set the fire?”

“Yes, I snapped, the disbelief and fury clashing inside me. “She set the damn fire, Daniel. And then she tried to have me kidnapped. All because she can’t get over Alex.

I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, the anger burning through my veins. Bianca had taken everything from me..my afety, my peace of mind, the sanctuary of my home. And now I was supposed to just sit here and be relieved that she was behind bars? That wasn’t enough. Not for what she had done.

Daniel stood, his expression hardening with his own anger. “That woman deserves to rot in prison for what she’s done.”

nodded, my jaw clenched so tight it hurt. “And she will. I’ll make sure of it. I’m done playing her games. I’m done being her arget. She’s not going to hurt my family ever again.”

looked out the window, my fists balled at my sides. Bianca had crossed a line–one she could never come back from. And cow, it was time for her to pay for t Ε

erything I wasn’t going to let her destroy us any longer.
