Chapter 69 THE FIGHT
Scarlet was distracted when she heard the cry of her baby. She thought of the first time she heard it and how scared she was. Now she was in the safety of her brother’s arms.
“What’s wrong with her SJ?” She didn’t turn. She didn’t trust herself not to rush to her and leave Marquis.
Stephan, Solara, and Kayla were there to make sure she didn’t escape, but she wanted to handle her on her own.
“She’s hungry.” SJ bounced her on her arm, trying to calm her down.
“Take her home. Jade is waiting by the stream. Make sure you feed her.” Kayla instructed.
SJ left immediately, not looking back.

Scarlet watched Marquis as her eyes darted back and forth, from her to Stephan, to Kayla, to Ric then to Solara, whose widebody was blocking the door. As she watched her thoughts of the numerous different ways she could kill her crept into her mind and oddly enough she liked them. A wicked smile crept across her face.
“You don’t like feeling trapped, do you?” she took a step towards Marquis.
“If you come near me I will kill you.” Marquis threatened.
Scarlet chuckled then lifted her index finger and pointed at Stephan, “Not while he’s around.” She had never felt as confident as she did now.
“He won’t kill me. He made love to me.” Marquis sneered.
Scarlet could feel the rage build up in her and before she realized it, she had her fingers wrapped around Marquis’s neck then slammed her against the wall.
Stephan got out of the way, Scarlet missing him by an inch. “Wow!”
“What did you say?” Scarlet’s eyes stared deep into Marquis’s bloodshot eyes. She was sure that at that moment her eyes resembled hers.
“You heard me. Now release me before I kill you while my beloved watches.” Marquis spat out.
“You are trying my patience.” Scarlet tightened the hold she had on her throat, and just as she heard Marquis yelp the room went black.
Scarlet staggered back waving her hands over her head. She knew what this was, Marquis had done the same thing to them when they were in Brazil. She squeezed her eyes shut then opened them immediately, but what she saw wasn’t what she expected.
The room was still dark but this time she could see, but she could only see Marquis. A sneaky grin curved on her face, she knew what had happened and part of her was glad. Marquis had changed her and in her, she was her child, and being her child Scarlet inherited her talent just as Kayla had inherited Solara’s. But Kayla’s gift came with one of her own and she was excited to find out what it was.
“Oh my God.” Scarlet heard Kayla gasp. She was sure she could see what was going on, and as much as she wanted to brag, that was not the time.
“How does it feel to be on equal ground with someone? You can’t cheat this time.” Her alter ego was taking over and she loved the power that came with it.
“That’s impossible.” Marquis staggered back.
“Sweetheart if you exist, anything is possible.” She grabbed Marquis before she had a chance to slip away from her.
Stephan watched as the two danced around the room, lurching and ducking each other’s attacks. He was in awe as he watched Scarlet handle herself with great ease and expertise. Pride and love welled up in him.
Ric distracted him as he made for the window once again. Stephan ran to block his way confusing him and making him turn towards the door, but Solara was there. Stephan didn’t have time for this he wanted his fight with Ric to end even before it began.
With the help of Solara, it only took him one move and one second to execute it. He took of Ric’s head then tossed it at Marquis’s feet.
Marquis leaped away a shriek of terror escaping her throat. “Why did you do that?” using the tip of her foot she pushed the head away and watched as it rolled a few inches from her.
“I just wanted to make sure that you knew what was about to happen to you.” Stephan grinned.
“You wouldn’t kill me.” She moved to the side her eyes still stuck on Scarlet who was still stalking her.
“I would but I won’t. I think my wife would like the honors. Wouldn’t you sweetheart?” he took a step behind Scarlet.
“That, I would. Now shall we do this or are we going to waste the little daylight that is left yapping?” with her two index fingers she beckoned her.
“Fine.”
“Ah, guys.” Kayla took a step forward. She wasn’t so sure that letting Scarlet go head to head with an ancient vampire was the best thing especially since she couldn’t win a wrestle with one of her Henchmen.
“Don’t worry about it.” Stephan stuck his hand out blocking Kayla from getting closer to Scarlet.
He wanted Scarlet to feel like she could depend on herself for protection. This was a part of her growth, one of the main things she would have to do as a vampire, kill. Stephan was sure that she could acquire this side of her without losing the other. A cold killer and at the same time maintain her purity and innocence.
“May I remind you that she is yet to hold her baby girl and if Marquis rips her apart she won’t be able to do that.” Kayla walked past his arm.
Stephan immediately called for back up and Solara was there lifting Kayla out of the way. “Let her do this babe.”
“Fine but if she gets hurt it’s your head,” Kayla muttered under her breath.
“You should listen to the telepath. She doesn’t have a chance against me.” Marquis smirked at her.
“That isn’t fair. You haven’t given me a chance yet.” Scarlet lurched for her.
Scarlet and Marquis fought, tossing each other across the room, moving about like two angry tornados. Neither of them bled or bruised so it was had to tell who was hurting who. Stephan had to put his supernatural eyes to much harder work than he had before. He knew that Scarlet’s anger motivated her but Marquis’s jealousy motivated her.
He had turned these women into who they were now and he couldn’t change it now. It was too late now, but he was sure of one thing that after that day his life would change.
Scarlet looked like she had the upper hand for a second before Marquis slammed her to the ground. Using her elbow to choke her Marquis had Scarlet pinned to the ground.
Kayla fought and struggled against Solara’s hold, bucking against his stone body. “Let me go.”
“Give her time.” he granted in her ear.
“Give who time. Give Marquis time to kill her or give Scarlet’s head time to detach from her body.” it was useless trying to fight Solara but she couldn’t just stand and watch her best friend being choked.
Scarlet could feel the pressure of her elbow crush into her neck. She closed her eyes trying to use her newfound talent to distract Marquis but it didn’t work. Everything she threw at her Marquis matched and did worse to her.
She wanted to push her off, she could feel her push her off but it was only mentally. She could feel something radiating from her mind to her body. Using pure instinct Scarlet pushed whatever it was off and Marquis flew off her.
Stephan watched in shock as Marquis soared off Scarlet’s body and hit the ceiling. Marquis’s face was that of bewilderment as she hung from the ceiling, her fingers digging into the stone.
“Wow!” Scarlet exclaimed as she jumped to her feet. She gave her body one look then shifted her eyes back to Marquis who hung from the ceiling.
Kayla stopped fidgeting and froze, she could feel Solara’s hands numbing against her arms. “What was that?”
“I guess she has a little bit of Stephan in her too,” Solara mumbled.
Marquis launched her body towards Scarlet, but Scarlet caught her in time then smashed her to the ground.
“How much television has she been watching? This looks like something one would see in WWE.” Stephan asked.
“She was pregnant a while ago, she didn’t have anything else to do but watch television,” Kayla replied.
Scarlet could hear them discussing her in a distance. Her main focus was on Marquis and how quickly she could kill her. She was sure that they had been at it for a few minutes but it seemed like ages to her. She wasn’t physically tired but she could feel Marquis get an upper hand on her. Even with the force field and the mind tricks, she could not win against a vampire who had centuries of experience.
Marquis could feel Scarlet’s resolve weaken. This was the time to go for the kill. She knew that once she killed scarlet that she would die too. Stephan would not let her live for killing yet another love of his life.
Kayla who had been listening in on the two women as Stephan and Solara compared techniques and discussed how well Scarlet had adopted to her vampire body, watched as Marquis went for Scarlet’s throat. She thought about giving Scarlet a chance to buff her but she couldn’t risk it. Marquis could have Scarlet’s head rolling on the ground alongside Ric’s.
As Marquis reached for Scarlet’s throat, Kayla wrapped her fingers neatly around Marquis. Scarlet reacted immediately gripping down Marquis’s arms so that she couldn’t push Kayla off.
Kayla ran up the wall, using the wall for support as she sprang off it. With a backflip, she held onto Marquis’s head as tight as she could. a metallic sound followed by a thud was ripped through the air, and when she landed on her feet Scarlet was holding a headless body.
Kayla took a bow then dropped the head next to Ric’s. Scarlet released the body in disgust.
“Eww! She wiped her hands over her jeans.
“What did you think?” Kayla asked.
“Perfect ten.” Scarlet applauded.
Solara and Stephan watched in confusion as the two women congratulated each other. Solara pulled Kayla in his arms and kissed the top of her head. “That was good babe.”
“Thank you.”
