“Divorce! You have to divorce!” Aaron’s father glared at me with anger. 

“But you must leave my granddaughter with us! You’re leaving with nothing, you crazy woman!” 

Aaron’s mother also sided with him. They completely ignored my years of contributions to the family. 

Rita looked on with a smug expression. “Anna! Apologize to your in–laws! Get down on your knees and beg them. Maybe they’ll convince Aaron not to divorce you!” 

Aaron hesitated, repeatedly giving me 

meaningful glances. Everyone around seemed

interest. Aaron’s father and mother stood in 

judgment, waiting for me to beg and apologize. 

How ridiculous! 

All my years of effort couldn’t compete with Rita’s return. As Mrs. Roberts, I was merely a figurehead, just a maid! I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Fine! We’ll get a divorce! I’ve already signed the papers!” 

I pulled out the divorce agreement and placed it 

in front of Aaron. 

Aaron looked alarmed but still tried to be 

defiant. “You need to leave our daughter with me! Where is my daughter?”

He was certain that I wouldn’t go through with the divorce if it meant leaving my daughter behind. “Give me our daughter, and I’ll agree to the divorce!” 

I took out the box containing my daughter’s ashes and placed it on the table. “Here is your daughter! Your granddaughter! 

“Aaron, you killed her! You did! And you too!” I pointed at Rita with a face full of hatred.
