CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1901

Caleb only escorted Vera to the entrance of the club before stopping.

"I'm not interested in you. Don't follow me," he stated bluntly. "If it's money you're after, there are plenty of ways to earn it without doing this.

Knowing that Luna and Simon were also inside, Caleb had no intention of lingering at this club any longer. To his surprise, Vera followed closely behind him.

He turned, irritation flashing in his eyes. "Don't you have anywhere else to go?"

"Your father gave me one task-to stay close to you and win you over," she replied firmly, her tone leaving no room for negotiation.

Her meaning was clear: she wouldn't leave until her mission was complete.

With her head bowed, Caleb couldn't see her expression, but her unwavering tone was enough to leave him momentarily speechless.

"How much money are you short of that you'd stoop to this?" he asked, unable to hide his disbelief. They'd had no prior interactions, yet now Vera clung to him as though her life depended on it.

"A lot," she answered hoarsely.

The Mason family's current situation left her with no other options. If there had been someone willing to help her, she wouldn't have resorted to this.

Caleb studied her closely.

How could he describe it?

At this moment, Vera looked utterly pitiful.

As a doctor, Caleb had spent years saving lives in the hospital and orbiting around Luna, who had never displayed such vulnerability. The two women were polar opposites.

But Caleb wasn't a philanthropist. He also knew his father well enough to realize that if he got rid of Vera, another "Miss Lincoln" or "Miss Jasper" would soon take her place.

Forget it.

"I'll make one thing clear-I will never fall for you," he said, his tone firm and resolute.

Vera had already figured out Caleb's feelings. He was clearly in love with the woman from earlier.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have taken the initiative to interact with her.

"But you don't want your father constantly bothering you about this, do you?" Vera pressed, her fingers digging into her palms as she looked up at Caleb.

Standing at 6'1", Caleb exuded an air

of cold detachment. Dressed in a casual ash-gray shirt instead of his usual white lab coat, his demeanor was as sharp and aloof as ever.

Vera couldn't help but recall the image of Caleb in his white coat, saving lives with the grace of a god. If Cateb was willing to help her, it wouldn't be a loss for her.

"You can put an end to the rumors about you and your friend by being with me,” she added, her voice

steady. "And if you need children, I'm willing to cooperate fully."

She was laying it all on the line.

Caleb's lips curled into a faint, mocking smile. "Fully cooperate? Then who gets custody of the child if we separate?"

Vera hadn't considered this. She looked at Caleb, stunned.

He had clearly thought everything through.

If the child stayed with Caleb, even if the Smith family went bankrupt, Caleb was still a doctor. The child would never go hungry.

If the Mason family recovered, her father's situation would improve, and her estranged brother would have a place to return to.

She and Caleb were both locals, so she could always keep an eye on the child. Even if they separated, no one could change the fact that she was the child's mother.

With a hoarse voice, she replied, "The child's custody can go to you. Don't worry-I won't fight you for it. If you're still unsure, we can sign an agreement."

Her gaze met Caleb's, unflinching.

It was clear that Vera was willing to do anything for the Mason family's survival.

As a doctor, Caleb knew he could ensure Vera's pregnancy without even touching her. But the thought of such an arrangement felt cruel and dehumanizing.
