Chapter 1175
Faced with Yvonne's reaction, Nigel wasn't upset. In fact, he found her even more endearing.
Bringing her to the art exhibit was just the first step in his carefully planned day. He had planned activities that couples typically would enjoy doing together which included lunch, shopping, and a movie. Yvonne, however, was a bit distracted and didn't realize where the car was headed until Nigel parked at the shopping district.
"Where are we going?" she asked, noticing that he had everything planned out, though she didn't want to spend the day with him.
With a gentle smile, Nigel stepped out and offered his hand to help her. "My dear Miss Yvonne, today is all about you. Next on the agenda is lunch at a French restaurant. I hope it's to your liking." Yvonne furrowed her brows. "I'm sorry, Nigel. I'm not sure if I've done something to give you the wrong idea, but I need to make it clear that I..."
"You don't like French cuisine?" he interrupted, deliberately misunderstanding her.
Realizing she wouldn't get through to him, Yvonne quickly called Nina, asking her to join them.
After hanging up, she forced a polite smile. "I'm used to having Nina with me. If it makes you uncomfortable, you can leave. I'll wait here for her."
But Nigel wasn't going anywhere. "Why would I feel uncomfortable? Besides, I'll order a special pregnancy-friendly meal for her."
Yvonne felt a wave of frustration wash over her. Once Nina arrived, she barely stopped talking, making sure there was no room for Nigel to interject. Later in the afternoon, Nigel was called away by a phone call, giving Yvonne some much-needed relief.
Nina teased her, "Honestly, why not give him a chance? He seems like a pretty decent guy."
Yvonne shook her head quickly. "I'm just not cut out for the kind of life you're living. I'm destined to be alone."
Nina was about to say something else when Yvonne's phone rang. It was Joe. Yvonne glanced at Nina before answering, "What do you want?"
"Come to the hospital."
He hung up after that simple command. Yvonne suspected that Winona had instructed the medical staff to keep Joe from leaving the hospital, so now he was summoning her to him.
Nina was visibly irritated. "What's
wrong with those two? One calls you a homewrecker, and the other keeps demanding to see you. We're not
going. We agreed no more meetings, so let's stick to that."
Yvonne bit her lip. "Maybe I should go. It might be my chance to settle things once and for all, so he'll stop bothering me."
Nina thought it over and agreed. "Alright, but I'm coming with you."
At the hospital, Joe's assistant was already there. His gaze toward Yvonne made Nina uncomfortable, and if she weren't pregnant, she would have given him a piece of her mind. "What do you want?" Yvonne asked, her voice devoid of any emotion.
Without a word, Joe nodded to his assistant, who handed Yvonne a medical report. The report showed Yvonne's blood type and, in bold letters, declared that Yvonne and Joe were not biologically related.
The document slipped from her hands as Yvonne stared at Joe in shock. "Do you think this is some kind of joke?"
Joe looked momentarily startled before explaining, "I didn't arrange this. It was a coincidence. I was curious about your unusual blood type and asked the doctor. I never expected..."
"Never expected the doctor would hand you a report like this, right?" Yvonne cut him off, staring at him as if he were a joke.
