Chapter 24
Can't Win Me Back Chapter 24
Isabella took off running.
However, she was short and frail, while Nathan had long legs. and great stamina. With just a few strides, he nearly caught up to her. Desperate, Isabella suddenly darted across the road.
A luxury sports car'sped toward her, its headlights blindingly bright. Nathan's eyes widened in alarm.
"Isabella-!"
The car abruptly slowed down, its window lowering to reveal a beautiful young face.
"Sis, get in."
Isabella froze for a moment, unfamiliar with the girl calling out to her. But that address-"Sis"-stirred memories of Theodore.
There was no time to think further. Isabella yanked open the passenger door and climbed in.
As Nathan rushed over, the sports car shot off like an arrow, vanishing into the distance with Isabella inside.
Standing on the roadside, Nathan clenched his fists tightly, suspicion clouding his face.
*When did Isabella start associating with such wealthy people?*
Suddenly, it all made sense.
*No wonder she had the confidence to throw away my bank card when she went abroad. No wonder she could afford to participate in the fashion design competition.* The car sped down the highway before coming to a stop by the roadside.
Isabella turned to the girl, a young woman of seventeen or eighteen with a high ponytail, almond-shaped eyes, and a clean- cut black suit that exuded confidence. "Thank you for helping me," Isabella said gratefully.
"It was the young master who asked me to assist you," the girl replied in a crisp, sweet voice.
Isabella was stunned.
"The young master?"
"Sanchez Family's young master, the girl clarified.
The mention of Theodore warmed Isabella's heart, like a glowing ember in the middle of a cold winter. *A lifeline when I needed it most.*
The girl handed Isabella a delicate brocade box. "The young master asked me to deliver this gift to you in celebration of your success."
Isabella opened the box to find a pink diamond necklace nestled inside. Around the gem were green accents resembling lush grass, full of life and vitality.
She gazed at the necklace, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. For a moment, she saw her own rebirth reflected in the sparkling stone.
"He put so much thought into this," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion.
The girl smiled. "The young master said, 'My Sis deserves only the best the world has to offer.
Isabella wiped at her eyes, a radiant smile spreading across her face. Gratitude for Theodore surged within her.
"Thank you for bringing me such a precious gift," Isabella said.
"My name is Ava, Miss. The young master has instructed me to stay by your side and take care of your daily needs."
Isabella froze at this unexpected offer.
Her life had been marked by hardship from an early age. She had cleaned, cooked, and endured a temperamental mother as a child, only to spend her adult years tiptoeing around Nathan. Now, having Theodore treat her with such care and respect felt almost alien. "You don't need to stay with me. I can take care of myself," she said firmly, rejecting the offer.
But tears welled in Ava's eyes. "Miss, if you don't take me in, the young master will dismiss me. If that happens, my father will force me to marry an old man from our village." Isabella's heart clenched. The girl's plight struck a chord deep within her. *Another child without the love of her parents,* she thought. It was a pain she understood all too well. Moved by compassion, Isabella softened. "If you don't want to go back, you can stay with me."
Relief washed over Ava's face as she discreetly let out a sigh of relief.
And so, Isabella brought Ava home with her.
