Chapter 77

"What's going on, Smithy? Why are you crying?" Barbara's concerned volce came through the phone.

Heidi teigned a pitiful tone and complained, "Ms. Thompson, I was at Prosper Stitch Group today. They're about to select a piece to be represented in the Winter Tournament, but my piece was eliminated by people siding with Janice."

"Who's Janice?"

Heidi's eyes grew vicious as she scowled, "She's just a woman with a messy private lite, and now it seems her relationship with Edward is unclear.

"She knows crocheting, but her past works were mediocre, yet she presented an exceptional piece today. I suspect she bought someone else's work, but Edward wouldn't listen."

Barbarasighed. After a briet pause, she said, “You're new to the industry, Smithy, You need to trust Edward's judgment. Stop crying now."

He decided to risk it all "Ms. Thompson, have you heard of Shirley Olson?"

"Shirly Olson? Of course, I've heard of her."

Held took a deep breath. “L. I am Shirley Olson, so how could 1 be defeated by Janice? I've kept my talents hidden to avoid unnecessary attention and trouble, but Janice is just too much! I'm worried it'd affect Prosper Stitch Group, so could you please talk to Edward?"

"You're Shirley Olson? Is that true?"

"If you don't trust me, Ms. Thompson, you can always ask my parents. They've always known!'

Barbara had always been concerned about Edward's business. She had just one son, and she couldn't bear to have him face even the slightest issue.

"Why didn't you tell us earlier? Barbara sounded surprise!.

“Being in the spotlight 't always a good thing, Ms. Thompson. You understand, don't you?"

Barbara nodded. “Is Janice as horrible as the rumors claimed?" she recalled Calvin saying that Janice seemed decent,

“That doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm the only one who can help Edward elevate his career. Mr. Moore has always disapproved of Edward's business endeavors, but if Edward succeeds, won't their relationship improve?"

Heidi's words struck a chord with Barbara's concerns. The latter nodded. "Alright, I understood.

“And Ms. Thompson, please keep my identity a secret. I don't want others to know," Heidi nervously reminded her.

"Don't worry Leave it to me."

“Thank you, Ms. Thompson!"

Heidi returned to Prosper Stitch Group and ran into Janice making coffee in the pantry of the crochet department.

Their eyes met briefly, but Janice's gaze moved on without another look.

Heidi stepped in front of her and provocatively blocked her way. “All you care about is money, isn't it? You were with Mr. Fitzgerald for it, and now you're trying to cozy up to Edward. But schemes like yours don't last."

Janice book a sip of her bitter coffee and looked up with a smile. To Hekli, that smile was nothing short of smug.

"I've received formal training, and you're just some unqualified seamstress with no certification. What's there for you to be smug about?*

"Ms. Ryan," a voice interrupted. It was Luna, who stepped out from the back of the pantry along with the other supervisors, Isabella, Fiona, and Sophie. They bad grim expressions

Heidi' words had insulted them as none of them had official crochet certifications either.

But Heidi showed no regard for their feelings and continued, "“Prosper Stitch Group has been stagnant for years because of unproductive seamstresses. It's time for a turnover." "That's right”

Heidi was momentarily stunned and and to see Janice picking up the conversation. The latter's smile grew wider as she announced.

dorgot to mention during the meeting earlier that a new batch of seamstresses will join us tomorrow. As for their qualifications"

Shemet Heidi's eyes and spat, "My apologies, Ms. Ryan, but you didn't make the cut."

Heidi had subunited her resume a week ago, but hiring new sensiesses was under Janke's jurisdiction as the director of the Product Division department.

Heldi panicked. "You have no right to judge me!"

To stark contrast to her indignation, Janice remained relatively calon as she stated, “As the director of the crochet department, I can assure you that I decide who stays and leaves, "And Prosper Stitch Group will not be hiring you."
