Bound by Fire: Burning desire (#2)

Chapter 21

Lisa p.o.v.

“No, Lisa. I have to find her. I’m going out of my mind thinking what may have happened to her.” Frankie paced in the hall as he raked his hands through his hair.

“Will you stop pacing around? You make my head hurt.” I grumble. He stops and sends an icy glare toward me. Rolling my eyes I stand up and drag him with me. “I thought you wanted to keep that girl away from this lifestyle?”

“Yeah…” he sighed. “That was the original plan. But…”

“You couldn’t help yourself?” I chuckle.

“She has such a pure aura around her and for her I want to be good. I want to prove to her and myself that I’m worth it.” A ghost smile appears on his lips. I shake my head as I smile for him. He really is a goner.

I drag him to the basement of the mansion. Many people don’t know about it. Or if they do, they don’t go there much. Many don’t know it has rows of holding cells for ‘emergencies’. I used to sneak down here quite a lot. Till I was caught by father dearest and punished.

“Lisa where are you taking me?”

I stop in front of the guard by one of the cells. Actually he was the only one down here so it confirmed my suspicion. Seeing us he straightened up and obliged opening the door. Somewhere in the farthest corner a small fragile girl was curled up with her head on her knees. Frankie was stunned with the sight in front of him.

“How did you know?” he whispered looking at me? After a moment he snapped out of his daze and rushed by her side.

“When have you seen someone guarding the basement door?” I roll my eyes.

As we enter the room her head snaps up and she starts hyperventilating.

“Cristy… love it’s me…” he approached her but she started screaming.

“Frankie why don’t you go out. I’ll get her upstairs.”

He looked at me like I was speaking French. I approached her slowly. She flinched at first. Those bastards definitely did something to her.

“Hey… Cristy… your safe… okay?... I won’t let anyone harm you.” Her sobs slowly died down as she clutched on to me. That’s when I saw it… they didn’t just hurt her. They abused her. “Come on let’s get you upstairs and cleaned up okay?”

Slowly I stood up supporting her and walking out with her. Outside the door Frankie was fuming and walking in circles. He stopped as he saw us and tried to get closer but she flinched away and I could see the hurt in her eyes.

“Frankie... haz que tus hombres de confianza reúnan a todos los bastardos que eran leales a Padre. (Frankie… get your trusted men to gather all the bastards that were loyal to padre.)” He stared me down, but when his eyes flickered to his girl in my arms his demeanor changed and he nodded. Turning around he ordered one of the men to lock those men up. Nodding toward him I continued walking with Cristy. We reached Frankie’s room and I helped her in the shower. When I walked out the bathroom I saw Frankie in the room looking distraught.

“Did she say anything?”

“Frankie… She was raped…”

“What?” he whispered and fell on the couch. “Are you sure?”

I nodded my head. His expression turned feral and he marched out of the room.

“Where are you going?”

“Stay with her. I’ll be right back.” Without another word he stormed off leaving me questioning his actions.

I walk back into the room and try to approach the bathroom. As I turn the knob Frankie enters the room with blood splatters all over him. What did that idiot do? He looks at me and hesitates for a moment. And then walks past me into the bathroom closing the door. I should probably leave, but I decide on waiting for a few more moments. I pace outside his room and see a lot of commotion going on upstairs. My phone rings and I pick it up seeing Ace’s name. I was thankful he got me a new phone.

“Hey, love… where are you?” love? I shake those thoughts away.

“Uhm I’m at Frankie’s.”

“Owh… I’m sending someone to pick you up.” I frown hearing that.

“I came here by myself and I can manage to get back myself.” I snap.

“Daleyza do you even know the address to this place?” that shut me up. He was right I don’t. “And what were you thinking going out alone… without any protection?” I roll my eyes at his comment.

“Yeah yeah you can give me the lecture when I’m home. You can send someone over in an hour.” I hear the door open and eye Frankie’s distraught state. He doesn’t say a thing. He just stand beside me leaning against the railing. “Bye.” I whisper and hang up.

“How is she?”

“She looks so fragile and broken… and it’s all my fault.”

“Yeah… well you can’t change the past.” I shrug.

“You know you could offer a few words in consolation right?”

“Listen we both know that something like this was going to happen, but none of us expected it to go to this extent. So try to move on. She will need you now more than ever… and Frankie be honest with her.”

He nodded.

“I wish there was something I could do to help her. I can’t bear to see her in this state.” He whispered more to himself then me.

“You can give her space and the support she needs.” He sighs and nods again.

“If you need my help you can call me.” After a moment of silence I spoke up again. “So who is going to organize his funeral?”

“He doesn’t deserve one…” he clenched his fists together.

“No! What he didn’t deserve was an easy death. If I were in your shoes I would have tortured him till he begged me to end his life and then I would leave him to rot in one of his precious cells… It’s just so anti-climactic. He didn’t deserve a painless death by getting a bullet between his eyes.” He looked up at the last statement. Trying to find out how I knew what he did. “You’re predictable like that.” I shrug.

“Yeah, well of course you would want to torture him. He singled you out your whole life.”

“Well… I guess that happens when I’m not really a part of the family.”

“What are you talking about Lisa?”

“Turns out I was… am a bastard. I don’t even belong here.” He surprises me by pulling me in his embrace. We were never this affectionate towards each other.

“You will always be my family… no matter what.” For a moment I let myself get lost in the feeling.

“Okay. Guess it has been an emotionally draining day for all of us… go rest. If you need me call me.” He nods and heads back to his room. I take a deep breath and head outside to see Dane waiting by my car. He opens the door for me and drives me home.
