Chapter 30 ~ In his arms
Mirko was leaning against the door frame, with his huge arms crossed over his chest. His gaze was already set on Elena, roaming over her features like a hawk.
She found herself flushing and her heart skipped a beat. As usual, that excitement that made her breath hitched and stomach flattered was back with just one look.
If Marco had been there, surely he would have noticed that exchange of the secret mates.
Rex, on the other hand, who hadn’t met his mate yet, and didn’t have the desire of meeting her anytime soon, hadn’t even looked up from his phone, too busy typing.
“Is everything ok here?” Mirko was on his cold-tough-Alpha-mode.
Elena swallowed, blushing even more.
“Ehm, Rex could you give us a minute?” She managed to take her eyes off her mate.
With a frown, Rex finally lifted his chin and looked at them.
“Why?” He questioned rubbing his jaw and glancing suspiciously at Mirko.
Yea, why would anyone remain alone with Black Alpha?
“Well” She trailed off, biting her mouth. Instantly Mirko’s eyes flickered to her lips.
Meanwhile Rex’s stare was going from Elena to Mirko…and from Mirko to Elena. His frown grew even more.
“On behalf of Full Moon, I need to speak to Alpha Mirko about…” She scratched her neck in anxiety as she glanced at him. With a glint of amusement crossing his face, Mirko seemed to enjoy the show...
The show of how she will ridicule herself for the sake of their secret!
“About Marco’s situation, his circumstances and the repercussions on our packs.” She explained with a nod.
Her dad would have killed her if he had heard her mentioning those hot topics in front of Alpha Mirko...
“Blah blah blah! Ok ok no need to list all the political crap!” He burst out laughing as Elena shook her head in disbelief. Her jaw almost dropped at his sudden childishness.
And this kid was supposed to become a Gamma one day…
“I will wait for you downstairs, all right?” Rex proposed, pinching her nose while Elena shoved him away playfully.
“Goodbye Alpha Mirko.” He saluted the Alpha with a serious face. His frown back in the game. Mirko simply nodded at him as Rex walked out of the room.
Finally!!!
But before Elena could even blink, Mirko stood in front of her, towering her small figure.
“So,” He said as a smirk slowly appeared on his god-like face.
He had wrapped his arms around Elena’s waist while she had placed her small hands on his broad chest.
All she could focus on was his full lips and enchanting eyes.
“I thought I loved the sound of my name coming out of your mouth, but now I prefer when you call me Alpha Mirko, like you did before.” He winked at her as his hand came up to caress her red cheek and brushed a stray behind her ear.
“Don’t get too cocky, mate.” She retorted with a sly smile.
His laughter boomed in the quiet hospital room, occupied by them only.
“Plus, it was just a cover and I-“
When his lips interrupted her mumbling, she magically forgot what she wanted to say. She even forgot where they were, what year they were, and which pack she belonged to.
Only one thing was fresh clear in her mind: she belonged to Black Alpha.

The conversation with Giulia had cleared Crucifero’s mind and instilled hope, like a sun ray after a tremendous sea storm. Hope that maybe his mate had tried to push him away simply because of his insecurities.
That little girl Crucifero had grown so fond of, had to literally go and look for him in hell ~ Black Devil’s dangerous ~ to manage to knock some sense into him.
With her angelic smile and unparalleled confidence, first she had ordered her Gamma friend and his Alpha (and that’s really saying something!) to leave the prison’s cell as if she was the lady of a castle and they were her mere servants.
Second, she had scolded Crucifero with her little hands lifting in the air and with those little feet stomping on the floor, insinuating that going crazy and destroying the whole neighbourhood would have served no purpose. His rage would not bring Marco back, as well as their possible future life together.
And at last, she had demanded Crucifero’s full attention.
He would have never forgotten her words until he lived. “Marco loves you. You have no idea how much! I had never seen him brooding on his phone muttering why you hadn’t texted him! Or taking an entire day to get ready before meeting you! And I never, ever thought of seeing the day when Marco would blush or stammer! But most importantly, I never expected to witness how much my brother had changed in better since he met you, his mate.”
“But that doesn’t change the fact he had rejected me. It’s quite an extreme measure.” He had noted, with a sad smile.
“Your love and mate bond were undermined and then ultimately shattered by a combination of injuries and growing defensive frailty. He had been hurt tremendously, his ego and pride had been damaged deeply. However, all that it won’t be important, because no matter what life decides to throw at you two, it would never change the fact that you two belong to each other. No matter what, you will always complete each other.”
“And right now, he needs you, his strength, as much as possible. So let’s go to knock some sense into my big brother!” She had giggled, pinching his nose.
And despite the fear of being doubled-rejected, Crucifero had headed to his mate’s room nonetheless. With a new determination, he had marched towards the love of his life and collected him from that damned hospital bed…
.....
...And in that exact moment, Crucifero was walking and carrying Marco in his arms, without taking his longing gaze off him and breathing in his scent as if it were air for him. His mate looked so handsome and yet so delicate.
As for Marco, he was speechless. It was as if a stone had blocked his throat.
On one side, he felt so safe like that, wrapped in his arms, relishing the feeling of sparks erupting all around them, but on the other, he was extremely ashamed.
Where were they going? Was he going to throw him off a cliff to get rid of him?
How could he have missed him so much in such a short time?!
“I’m sorry.” Crucifero breathed quietly, interrupting his mate’s brooding.
Marco head snapped to look at him, utterly confused.
But before he could function again and ask why the hell he had apologised to him, Crucifero halted.
Noticing that he had diverted his eyes and was staring at something behind Marco, the latter frowned.
Was Crucifero blushing?! What was he looking at!?
Marco’s head turned around only for his jaw to drop in shock at the sight in front of him.
“W-what?!”
