Chapter An Unexpectedly one-sided Meeting
“It should be somewhere in that room,” I said, pointing to a set of large wooden double doors which lied across from us at the end of the hall. We crept across the floor over to the ancient wooden doors, careful and quiet we slithered gracefully on the wet floor. A feeling of need for the necklace grew stronger now, as if I too, were unconsciously calling out for the ancient jewel. I placed my ear to the door, hoping to capture even just a slight idea of what lied just behind the ornately carved double doors. Akuma did the same, a frown line appeared across his eyebrow as he concentrated on making out the muffled syllables from behind the entrance.
“They’re just children,” a voice like rusted metal cried.
“But you saw what they did, we sent around twenty troops to stop them,” a second voice said, obviously worried. “It’s the girl. We’ve waited too long. She’s too strong now. And with the others-”
“Silence!” yelled the first voice. “We can deal with them as well. As for the child of my blood, well, I shall have a ‘special’ meeting with her.” I inhaled sharply, wondering what Sombra, queen of the Darkness had in store for me.
The sound of footsteps filled the room, echoing through the halls. They were moving out of the room. Quickly, Akuma and I dashed silently to the corner of the wall, huddling as tightly as we could. The doors were shoved open with great force. A large woman stepped from the room, she wore a all black and a high collar which ran up her neck. I held my breath as the figures paused for a moment in the doorway. Their shadows blocking the light which flowed from the large room. I watched through the crack, realizing that this-this creature was something no longer human. As if darkness had not only consumed her soul, but her heart and mind. Her eyes were like staring into pits of darkness, just looking into them for a moment made me question whether or not I was going to see the light of day again.
“One day,” she began, “we will find the granddaughter of my sister and we will show her the same fate as her mother,” she hissed. The shadows slithered into view and continuing to walk down the hall.
I waited until I knew they were long gone, before entering the room, there it sat encased in a large glass box, the crystal which contained the dying breath of Udea which had to lead us here as if begging us to bring the world to peace.
