Black Ice-Completed

Chapter 19

This is a long chapter, fair warning ;)

And if you want to know what the words mean, I have several words on my wall and their meanings. Thanks for reading!

The rest of the autumn season was spent most of the time as wolves. They hunted, play fought and just altogether cuddled.

Whenever they were human, they spent more time kissing and cuddling. Both talked deep into the night and Nyota eventually asked why he had been gone for so long.

Syn became quiet and shifted uncomfortable. He was quiet for so long that Nyota began to worry but he settled more comfortable and began to stroke her cheeks, “I was held prisoner by the Amazons of Axun.”

Nyota growled low in displeasure and sat up, “I told you to stay out of Axun!” she rumbled and moved off of his lap.

Syn looked at his mate and could not understand why she was so angry or why she was acting as if she had the right to order him around and then voice her displeasure at him, “D’atai,” he began in a stern tone but was taken off guard when she launched herself at him and pinned him to the ground. Her glowing eyes mere inches from his own cold blue.

“I told you not to enter Axun because of the she warriors. They were taking any man prisoner due to their incessant need to war with the commander that is across the sea!” she growled low, baring her fangs at him in rage.

Syn knew it wasn’t funny but instantly started to laugh and could not stop until Nyota moved away from him in confusion, “My stars, D’atai, you are truly a force to be reckoned with and will make a fine alpha female,” he said with amusement.

Nyota snarled softly, “Alpha, Osyn, I will be Alpha,” she bit out and moved towards her back pack.

Clearing his throat so as not to laugh at the absurdity of his mate, he looked at her with a seriousness that he really didn’t feel, “Be that as it may,” he said, not even willing to bring up that discussion of Alphas, “You never told me to not enter Axun. You told me to be careful, quite a difference.”

Nyota began to shove things into her pack, “Something I will not forget for the next time,” she snapped and bared her fangs before walking away from the camp and disappearing into the shadows of the forest before Syn could even stop her.

It had taken Syn weeks to find his mate and it was while she was in the middle of a hunt, trying to take down one of the great stags of the region.

He had ample time to think about his mate while he had looked for her. Of course when he had been searching for the sword, he had thought of her often but as the mother of his children, as the alpha female to his male, what they could essentially build together within the pack. He had never really thought about her wants or needs or even who she was as a whole. And as he watched her bring down the stag on her own, he realized she wasn’t part of the pack, he didn’t really know her.

Nyota watched carefully as she ate and knew the moment when Syn came down into the valley, moving slowly towards her. Lifting her head up when he was several feet away from her, she snarled but there was no real bite to it. Her anger had dissipated over time, but her wolf had yet to be appeased.

“D’Atai, I am sorry. Sorry for not understanding you,” he said quietly, “If I had listened to you, I probably would have been here with you instead of locked away.”

Nyota narrowed her eyes and stalked way from her kill, her tail raised into the air, a challenge, “And you think you understand me now?” she growled, her hackles raised.

“No,” he said softly, “I’ve been away for far too long and you have been alone. I don’t know you but likewise you don’t know me. You don’t trust me,” he said as he stumbled over the word trust.

Nyota lost her stance and sighed, “We have much to learn from one another. But we also must be open to the opportunities granted to us.”

“Yes,” he stated simply and waited.

Nyota huffed out a breath of aggravation but asked, “Are you hungry?”

Syn smiled and moved forward and nuzzled her muzzle, “Yes, I’ve been chasing my wayward mate all through the forest,” he said affectionately.

Syn stayed for the next year, each learning about the other. That winter, Nyota knew that with two of the them around, they would be able to catch the trappers. But even with her optimism, she was not able to find any traps and it made her leery.

Another thing that became harder to was provide meat to Veronica. There had always been a little left whenever Nyota had hunted. But with two wolves devouring the meal, there was barely anything but scraps fit only for the scavengers.

Nyota had to make special hunting trips just so her aunt would have enough to eat for the few weeks, and that was only when she could sneak away from Syn.

It was summer once again, and Nyota felt the itchiness more so than she had ever in her sixteen years. It irritated her that it only ever happened around Syn. When he was gone, it would abate and she could relax but he seemed oblivious to it all.

One evening, the two were sitting side by side when Syn found himself on his back, Nyota having launched herself at him once again. He was confused because he couldn’t find what he had done wrong to cause her anger. But then he felt her rubbing against him, small whimpers as she moved.

Syn rumbled deep in his throat and felt the stirrings of pleasure start to build, especially when she grinded against his growing erection. “Nyota,” he rumbled as he began to pet her hair and caress her neck, “Whats this all about?”

Instead of answering, Nyota whimpered again as she began to nip and bite at whatever flesh was available to her. Impatiently, she ripped his shirt from his chest and began to nuzzle his nipples, slowly scraping her fangs against one.

Syn heaved in air at her assault and felt dizzy as he tried to breath. He watched through narrowed eyes as Nyota pulled her own shirt off and he couldn’t help the appreciative growl that rumbled up from his chest. Pulling her closer, he slowly caressed the side of her breast and watched it pebble at the slightest touch, “You’re so responsive!” he whispered and leaned forward to nuzzle at her breasts, licking and nibbling before placing a globe into his mouth and sucking hard, pulling back until it came out of his mouth with a pop.

Nyota groaned and pushed her fingers through his hair, bringing his mouth to her breast once again, “Please, I need you,” she whimpered as she continued to grind against his erection and Syn couldn’t do anything but obey. He had never seen Nyota this submissive, this needy.

She groaned as Syn left little marks all along her body, sucking and nipping which made the itch unbearable, “Please Syn, please,” she whimpered.

Syn laughed and nuzzled her neck, “Yes my sweet, what is it you want?” he asked, his voice husky from pleasure. He had to shift because her grinding was becoming almost unbearable, but if she asked, he would be in her in moments.

“Syn,” she whimpered again and nuzzled his neck, “Mark me, please!” she huffed and shifted her neck so it would be more easily accessible.

It felt like a bucket of cold water was splashed onto Syn so suddenly that he pushed Nyota off his lap and glared at her, “Why would you ask that?” he growled.

Nyota whimpered and crawled back onto his lap, nuzzling his neck giving it small nips, “I want everyone to know I am yours! Please mark me!”

Syn wasn’t moving as he gently pushed Nyota away again, “I can’t,” he bit out in aggravation.

Sitting back, Nyota frowned as another whimper left her. She was so itchy and it wasn’t abating, why wouldn’t Syn mark her? “You can,” she growled, “especially seeing how you continue to call me mate anyways!”

“No Nyota, I can’t!” he snarled as he kept his face averted from Nyota’s, his body vibrating with suppressed rage.

Nyota hopped to her feet and growled, her eyes slowly losing the glow of passion to be replace by anger, “Why not!” she hissed, “All mates mark one another! My father told me that wolves mated for life and when one found their true mates, they would mark one another for the whole pack to know that while they may take other partners, it was their true mate that would take care of them!”

“That’s just a stupid tradition of old, before the curse Nyota. I can’t mark you because you would become a vulnerability to me and I can’t have that, not even after I take the pack can I mark you,” he rumbled as he looked at Nyota, his eyes ice cold.

Nyota flinched at the cutting look he gave her but felt her own anger rise, “But then I wouldn’t really be your alpha female,” she said even though she knew that would never even happen anyways. She would be Alpha of the pack, not just the females, “I’d just be a female that has caught your interest!” she snapped as the enormity of what he was telling her was hitting far too close to her heart.

“It’ll be safer,” he bit out and began to get up to start supper, avoiding Nyota’s watery eyes. By the Gods he hated seeing a woman cry. And as the thought entered his mind, he felt a slap go across his cheek. He never even realized Nyota had moved in front of him.

Skieva! Skaxis! You bloody son of a dunishka!” she snarled and continued to rain blows onto Syn. How could he profess his love, call her D’atai, and yet deny her the basic needs to seal them together so fate would not take apart what they had?

Nyota wasn’t surprised when Syn lashed back at her. For once she was expecting the blow, she knew a male wolf could only take so much but she didn’t count on the pain and the ringing in her ears as she fell to the ground, her eyes unfocused as he paced back and forth, his growling so low she only felt the vibrations.

Skieva? Far from it little girl!” he snarled, “I am in the top of the beta’s! I’ve fought my way there with tooth and nail! If I wanted I could probably take on Lyosha now and become Alpha!” he roared and kicked some pans away, causing birds to take flight at the sudden clanging, “Skaxis? My parents are mated, truly, even though they have not marked one another for the same reason I will not mark you. As for bloody son of dunishka, yes I am just as you are as well. We are all children of slaves.

In fact, I could be back with the pack, in bed with several fine women and not stuck here with a silly little child who does not understand the intricacies of pack life!” he bit out in aggravation, “When I take over as Alpha, you will be my female alpha! You will stay by my side and do as I say so that we can live in a relatively safe life!”

Nyota felt her heart fall, but instead of letting him know he had hurt her, she glared at him who just stared back at her. Before she did something she regretted, she got up and started packing her things into her knapsack. She had to leave, she had to get away from this paovraf who thought he could dictate what she was going to be in his life.

Syn paused in his pacing and watched as Nyota packed her sack. “What are you doing?” he asked softly and moved towards her. When she didn’t give any indication that she heard him, he gently nudged her and then jumped back and well away from her teeth as she shifted and snapped at him.

Baring her fangs Nyota snarled, “You do not get to touch me!” taking a step forward she swept pans out from under her easily, her green eyes glowing as she glared at Syn, “I am leaving and you had better leave this territory. If I find you still here after three days, I’ll kill you,” she growled, her eyes a cutting green.

It was only then that Syn noticed that she was bigger than him. When had that happened? “Where should I go when my mate is here?” he snapped in frustration. Didn’t she understand that he was protecting her?

Nyota walked away and turned her head, with regal indifference she said, “Why not go back and sleep with those women you were so fond of talking about a minute ago,” and with a flick of her tail she disappeared once again into the forest.

Syn spent weeks trying to find Nyota. There had been a couple of times he had come upon her camp, missing her by minutes from the indication of the smothered fire.

By autumn, Syn had yet to find his mate and feeling irritated and worried, he packed his things. He needed to get back on the trail for the sword but also report in person to Lyosha before the alpha sent a pack to try to find him.

Taking a step towards the border of Nyota’s territory, he looked back into the shadows of the forest, “I’ll be back D’atai. It’ll be some time but I hope to reconcile with you. You deserve so much and at the moment, I can’t give it to you. Stay safe, my stars.”

Nyota felt tears fall from her cheeks as her heart was ripped from her chest all over again as she watched him go. She about called out to him to stop but bit her lip. There was nothing either of them could do at the moment. Syn thought to protect her when she didn’t need protection. He thought he could rule her and she’d be alright as a shadow. Maybe when he returned , they could talk and things would be different.
