Chapter 21 - Mom Puzzles
She hopped back off the bunk. “I... you are either the smartest dog I’ve ever met or...” She trailed off. To the kids she said, “We need to speak to your father.”
She came to a decision. “You kids come up to the front with me, let her rest.” After she shuffled them off to the front again, she eyed me suspiciously. “If you really understand me, you will stay back here until I tell you.”
I nodded again and lay my head down on the blanket.
Mother opened her mouth to say something and then closed it again with a pop. She turned on her heel and walked to the front.
I could hear some whispered conversation at the front.
Where was Apoc?
The RV bounced and then I heard the tell tale sound of claws against fiberglass from the mini-shower.
I saw his head and nose pop around the shower curtain. I quickly leaned my head out and saw Mother in the front of the RV, leaned over whispering into Father’s ear. She was motioning but not looking thankfully. Then she glanced back and I turned to look at the shower, but Apoc was already gone. I ducked back in too.
I didn’t have long to wait.
