“So, is this your new habit? Teasing your ex–wife just to embarrass her? Keep your words to yourself, I don’t need them,” she said, jerking her hand free from Harvey’s grasp.
Harvey looked at Rebecca in shock. He was about to say something, but Rebecca shook. her head.
“Don’t you dare act as if what happened to me is normal! I know you never loved me and you don’t need to explain that, but letting our baby die in Alicia’s hands is a sin you’ll carry forever!” Rebecca hissed, her chest heaving with emotion.
“Becky, there was never a baby-
“THERE WAS! I’ll prove it to you! We’ll see!” Rebecca snapped and stormed out of the narrow alcove. Behind her, Harvey watched her with uncertainty. He had never missed someone so much in his life. He never thought Rebecca, the woman he believed he didn’t love, could create such a huge void in his heart. Even Alicia’s presence couldn’t fill that void.
Meanwhile, Rebecca hid in the restroom, trying to calm herself down.
‘How could Harvey talk to me like everything was normal as if nothing terrible happened between us before we separated? Did the pain I felt all this time mean nothing to him?‘ She ranted silently.
After calming herself, Rebecca returned to the party, her mood completely altered. Her encounter with Harvey left her feeling chaotic, calling her an idiot because her body seemed to betray her sanity. She couldn’t lie to herself that she missed Harvey’s touch. more than anything.
“Becky, where have you been?” Suddenly, Nicholas appeared behind her.
“Restroom. You?” she asked, looking around in confusion because Nicholas had disappeared for a while. “I got a call from the firm, sorry for leaving without notice,” he replied, holding Rebecca’s hand. “Your hands are so cold, are you feeling sick?” he asked, squeezing Rebecca’s cold fingers.
Rebecca cleared her throat softly, unable to remove Harvey’s face from her head. “Yeah, maybe because I haven’t eaten enough since morning,” she replied, finding a plausible
excuse.

“Have you heard? E–news posted your picture on their social media feed,” Nicholas murmured lightly. Rebecca widened her eyes in surprise, “Really?”

Nicholas grimaced, “Yeah, but they paired your photo with Alicia’s. It looks like E–news is trying to get the internet to compare you two. If you don’t want to be seen as an unhappy ex–wife, you better stick with me like glue, okay?”
Rebecca forced a smile, impatient to check her phone and read the comments about her. But the Met Gala was still ongoing, and the Arnault Saverio team asked her to meet their ambassadors from other countries. As she carried out her duties, Nicholas stayed close by her side, not leaving her alone even just a second.
Everything was going well until a reporter suddenly approached her and thrust a microphone in her face. “Becky, there’s a rumor that you deliberately fell down the
pstairs and crashed into a car just to frame Alicia Fox. Is that true?”
steep
Rebecca stared in shock, remaining silent momentarily until she heard Nicholas say, “Becky is here representing Arnault Saverio, so she won’t be answering any questions other than that. Excuse us.” Nicholas took her hand and led her away from the crowd.
“Wait, stop!” Rebecca cried, halting in her tracks and causing Nicholas to turn to her in surprise.
“I’m not guilty, why should I avoid her? I’ll answer that damn question!” Rebecca shouted. She shook off Nicholas’s grip and prepared to approach the reporter, but Nicholas quickly blocked her.
“Do you have any evidence to refute that statement?” Nicholas asked gently.
Rebecca wanted to say she had Lucy’s confession email, but she remembered Lucy’s warning not to trust anyone so she shook her head slowly instead.
Nicholas sighed deeply, “You’ll only make them more eager to chase you and bombard you with questions that will make you look even crazier because you don’t have proof to refute it. So, how about we skip the after–party and go to dinner instead? You must be hungry, right?”
Rebecca nodded, deciding to let Alicia win for now.
about “Wait here, no one will be around. I’ll get the car,” Nicholas said, quickly disappearing from Rebecca’s sight. “Shit! Where should I start?” Rebecca muttered, thinking the best way to begin her revenge plan against Alicia.

While she was busy debating with herself, a very familiar car suddenly drove by and stopped right in front of her. Rebecca frowned in confusion. Shortly after, the car door opened, and Harvey stepped out, approaching her.
Every encounter with her ex–husband made the world seem to move in slow motion. She looked at Harvey, her heart pounding faster than ever. It would be a lie to say she had moved on from him because, in reality, he still provided the best energy for her.
“What do you want?” she hissed cautiously..
Harvey stopped in front of her. “Clarity,” he answered in his deep, charismatic voice.
Rebecca scoffed. “Isn’t my confession clear enough for you? Didn’t I tell you that your beloved woman deliberately pushed me down the stairs because I was carrying your baby–our baby!”
Harvey sighed deeply. “Becky, the doctor himself said you weren’t pregnant at the time, and Lucy’s confession-”
“What? What confession? Lucy lied because-” Rebecca’s words caught in her throat as
saw Alicia walking quickly towards them, looking furious.
“Harvey, what are you doing here?” Alicia asked, almost in tears. Rebecca rolled her eyes. in disgust. Harvey sighed deeply, looking back and forth between Alicia and Rebecca.
“She just wants to know if you’re a liar or not. Trust me, Foxy, no matter how well you hide a carcass,
it will still smell. I’ll just wait for the universe to reveal your lies. Harvey, I think you’re smart enough to analyze a lie unless your Cum Laude degree is fake. Okay, I’m leaving, my ride’s here!” Rebecca said, stepping towards Nicholas’s car, which had just pulled up. As she was about to get into the car, she suddenly heard Harvey shout,
“So, the rumors are true? You secretly cheated on me with him while we were still married, didn’t you?”
Rebecca clenched her fists. She turned around, walked quickly up to Harvey, and slapped him hard.
