Chapter 106

“Marianne! Over here!” Margareth called out as she saw Rebecca emerge from the gate.

Rebecca half-ran toward Margareth, smiling broadly, revealing her braces.

“The gardener couldn’t make it today, but the dry leaves are already piling up in the garden, so-” Margareth handed Rebecca a leaf rake, raising one eyebrow high.

Rebecca nodded, took the rake, and quickly walked toward the garden. As she cleared the leaves, she thought about how she could free Harvey’s mother. But suddenly, someone tapped her shoulder, making her gasp in surprise. She turned around and found Harvey standing behind her.

“You dropped this,” Harvey said, holding out a phone toward her

Rebecca stared in shock, feeling her apron and swallowing nervously when she realized there was a large hole in it. Luckily, her chat gadget was still there. She quickly grabbed the phone from Harvey, relieved she had turned it off before entering the mansion.

“Thank you, sir,’ she typed quickly on her chat gadget.

“Never mind,” Harvey replied flatly, but his eyes remained fixed on Rebecca’s face. “What’s your name?” he asked, frowning.

‘Marianne, sir,’ Rebecca typed with trembling hands.

Harvey nodded. “You remind me of someone, he murmured, turning away and walking back through the garden, his face full of questions.

Suddenly, a brilliant idea popped into Rebecca’s head. She glanced at Harvey, who was sitting under a tree, then continued pretending to gather leaves until she was close to him. After making sure she was hidden from the CCTV, she quickly typed on her chat gadget and showed it to Harvey.

Harvey snorted with laughter, looking up at Rebecca. “A ghost? Nonsense, there’s no such thing here,” he replied, handing the chat gadget back to Rebecca.

Harvey stood up and patted Rebecca’s shoulder gently. “Don’t worry about that,” he said, then walked away, leaving Rebecca standing with trembling knees.

“This is it, it has to end here. I won’t let Victoria and Alicia win,” Rebecca muttered as she watched Harvey’s back recede. She was sure Harvey knew what he needed to do.

“Marianne! Are you finished?” Nancy shouted from a distance.

Chapter 106

Rebecca moved away from-the tall tree that had hidden her and shook her head.

“Hurry up

and clean Madam Victoria’s room, I have something I need to do!” Nancy yelled. Rebecca nodded, quickly gathered the dry leaves, and put them into a sack.

As Rebecca was about to clean her hands in the maid’s room, she saw Nancy washing her blood-covered hands. She stared in shock, then tapped Nancy’s shoulder twice with a questioning look.

Nancy turned around, surprised. “This isn’t my blood,” she said, swallowing nervously. Rebecca frowned, confused.

“Um, it’s Ronan’s blood, you know Madam Victoria’s dog? He got hurt,” she quickly said, as if covering something up.

Rebecca just nodded, not asking further. She hurriedly washed her hands, then packed the cleaning tools into a box and carried it into the mansion.

At the entrance to the main building, she saw Ronan, Victoria’s Siberian Husky, sleeping soundly. She frowned, seeing no sign of injury on Ronan, and her stomach dropped instantly. “Shit! Harvey’s mother?”

She turned around, staring toward the shed in the distance, wondering if Harvey took her words seriously.

“Are you going to stand there all day?” Victoria snapped, suddenly appearing behind her. Rebecca nearly jumped in surprise, swallowing hard before half-bowing as she passed by Victoria, who was still glaring at her.

“Wait!” Victoria shouted.

Rebecca closed her eyes, fearing her disguise had been discovered. She turned around, keeping her eyes on the floor, avoiding Victoria’s gaze.

“Whatever you see and hear in this house is none of your business, understand?!” she hissed, her eyes flashing.

Rebecca nodded twice, timidly, trying to look like a maid who desperately needed the job.

“Okay, go!”

Rebecca half-ran up the stairs toward Victoria’s room, which was opposite Harvey’s room. She carefully entered, looking around, hoping to find something she could use against Victoria, but everything was too clean and empty. Victoria must have been

very cautious.

Rebecca quickly cleaned every corner of Victoria’s room. While wiping down the walk-in closet door, she noticed an envelope sticking out from under a pile of nightgowns.

After checking around and ensuring there were no CCTVs, she lifted the pile of clothes and found several envelopes. Curiously, she opened one and quickly read it.

Victoria,

You must get me out of prison immediately! I don’t care how bad our relationship is, I’m still your twin!

The letter was long, but what shocked Rebecca was the ending; Your Twin, Victor.

“Shit! So Victor is Victoria’s twin, that’s why he’s working with Nicholas. My God, this is really messed up,” she muttered, quickly folding the letter and putting it back in its place.

Suddenly, she felt anxious, afraid Harvey might make the wrong decision. She hurriedly finished her work and ran down the stairs. But when she saw Victoria and Alicia talking quietly, she stopped and walked slowly, eavesdropping.

“Harvey’s been searching for something in the shed all day. Do you think he knows we locked his mother in the bottom basement?” Alicia asked, worried.

Victoria shook her head. “I don’t think so. If he knew, he would have gone straight to the basement. Besides, there are four armed guards down there; he wouldn’t be able to do anything.”

Alicia sighed deeply, “Still, I think you should move his mother to a safer place,” she said, fiddling with her fake nails.

Victoria was silent, then nodded, “Maybe you’re right,” she said, unaware that Rebecca was eavesdropping from the stairs above.

Rebecca was torn about how to inform Harvey of everything. She walked out of the main building, keeping her eyes on the shed, and as if the universe was on her side, Harvey suddenly walked out, holding something in his hand.

Rebecca watched from afar; she had no other choice but to confess to Harvey and plan his mother’s rescue perfectly before Victoria moved her to a place that might be harder to find.

Rebecca deliberately slowed her pace so she could cross paths with Harvey before he turned toward the maid’s room. When they were ten feet apart, she purposely threw herself to the ground.

Harvey frowned in surprise and hurried over to her. “Are you okay?” he asked, helping Rebecca to her feet.

“Harvey, listen! It’s me, Becky! Your mother is in the basement of the shed, there are four armed guards guarding her. Victoria is planning to move her somewhere else, so we have to rescue her tonight. Call Max; he’ll know what to do!”

Harvey stared at her, shocked.
