Chapter 2297
Greedy Wolf snorted coldly and started walking deeper into the forest without saying anything.
Jiang Ning followed behind him. He observed Greedy Wolf's directions while checking against the lines on the Extreme Fist
Technique Manual to see if there was any problem with the route he was taking. "This Greedy Wolf is really no simple man,"
thought Jiang Ning to himself.
Greedy Wolf was a powerful man not only because of his physical prowess, but even more so because of his knowledge of the
world and the extent of his schemes. It was impossible to tell what this man was thinking, or what method he would use to fulfil
the next necessary step.
The both of them were cooperating now, but Jiang Ning knew that this partnership could fall apart anytime. One of them might
suddenly perish in the next second.
It was nerve-wracking and exciting!
"Even though the Longevity Pond has only appeared in legends and rumors, it has got to really exist. Otherwise, why would the
Extreme Fist Technique Manual even exist? Surely whoever did this wasn't so bored as to come up with something so incredible
just for fun, right?" thought Jiang Ning.
If someone did all this just to pass time, then this person was definitely way too bored.
The forest was extremely dense and the huge trees extended to the clouds.
As they walked through the forest, a thick and heavy feeling weighed on them from the sky.
This was the passageway to the Longevity Pond, and there was only one road through the forest. Jiang Ning could use the
etches on the manual to figure the way out, but he still needed Greedy Wolf. It was clear that Greedy Wolf had studied this in
great detail. Even though he didn't understand the formation lines on the manual, he was still able to discern which way was the
right direction to go. "Why aren't you walking anymore?" asked Jiang Ning when he saw that Greedy Wolf had suddenly stopped
in his footsteps.
"There's a fork in the road," said Greedy Wolf.
He looked in front to see only one passageway. It was already a rare sight for such a dense forest to have only one passageway,
but Greedy Wolf said there were two passageways. Jiang Ning looked closely and saw that it was indeed more than one
passageway. There were two sets of formation lines that extended in two different directions.
"One leads to life and one leads to death." Greedy Wolf looked teasingly at Jiang Ning. "If you make a wrong choice, then you
will most certainly meet your end. You can choose which way to go." There was a playfulness in his eyes, as if he didn't care
whether he lived or died, and just wanted to see what choice Jiang Ning would make.
Jiang Ning looked at the formation
lines very carefully. The two sets of lines seemed almost the same. If he had arrived at this place three years ago, he wouldn't
have noticed any difference.
But things had changed. He could now see exactly where the differences were easily.
There were indeed two
passageways, one leading to life and the other to death. But regardless of which one they chose, neither would be smooth. From
the way these formation lines were constructed, Jiang Ning knew that perhaps both of these roads led to death.
"I don't know how to choose either." He pulled a coin out from his pocket. "Why don't we let the heavens decide?"
He flipped the coin and caught it in
between his palms and pointed to the two passageways ahead. "If it's heads, we'll choose this side. it's tails, then the other side.
How's that?"
Greedy Wolf stared right into Jiang Ning's eyes to check if he was joking. This was a very important juncture. How could he use
such a childish method to make a decision? "Are you sure about this?" He snorted. "If you make the wrong choice, you'd die!"
"I don't know how to choose." Jiang Ning shook his head. "If I knew how to make a choice, then why would I need you?"
"Either you choose, or we'll let the heavens decide. We'll see if the gods want us to find the Longevity Pond or not."
He shrugged and didn't seem to care either way.
Even though their lives were at stake, Jiang Ning didn't seem afraid at all. He was even more unbothered than Greedy Wolf.
Even if he were to die in the next moment, there wouldn't be the slightest bit of fear on Jiang Ning's face. His nonchalance and
calmness wasn't a pretense. Greedy Wolf could see that.
The two of them just looked at each other. Greedy Wolf was trying to test Jiang Ning, but Jiang Ning just ignored it and threw the
ball back into his court instead.
This wasn't a battle of fighting prowess.
This was a battle of their mental strength.
One wrong move could become an irreversible mistake. And once the chance was lost, everything else was lost.
