Chapter 71 –
Lena's POV
Sunday, three more days until the Luna Ceremony
I had taken Jana and Anika to a motel on the city's outskirts the day after they were banished. It wasn't a great place, but at least they each had a bed. I had to go to the store and get them the light cancelling drapes for them to be safe from the sunlight. I bought a cover that people hang in their backyards to create a sunshade to sit in to protect them from the sun. That made it easier for them to travel with, as the sun would have burned them. I paid for the room for a week and told them that we didn't need the room to be cleaned, Just fresh towels brought to the room daily.
I hated that they demanded my ID and rented the room in my name. That was proof that I was involved. I hated the evidence building up against me. This was not what I had planned. I wanted Jana and Anika to stay where they were, not mess around and get kicked out of their coven. I had no idea that Jana even had a gun, let alone was ruthless enough to kill someone. I had heard the rumors and knew that he was still in a coma. They were hunting for them, but closer to Black Adder.
They would have been here, except I drove them to the city. I was glad I did that now, as Paxton could pick them up on their way here. The motel wasn't known for being a good one. It was the kind of place that people could rent by the hour, so it was a hotspot. The good part about it was that the rooms were actually clean, and the linens changed regularly. I didn't want to go into the room, but I had to speak to them about what they would need for the week.
The grins they gave me actually worried me. Anika's words were scary, "We can take it from here, Lena. Don't worry about having to come here to take care of us. We will hide our victims."
"Lena, what she means is we will ensure that whatever innocent fool comes across us will not lead the police back to us. We know what to do to cover our tracks. No one will ever know that it was a vampire attack. This isn't our first time doing this, so don't sweat it. No one will ever be able to prove what happened to them as we know to rip out the area with the bite marks. Once you leave them in the woods for a while and the animals get to them, they are a mess," Jana replied with a smirk.
I needed to get the hell out of here. That was a clear threat from both of them if I have ever heard one. I had willingly allowed myself to be here with them. I didn't want to associate with them after this. I knew exactly how dangerous they were. But they were also a necessary evil. I couldn't get this done without them, and I knew it. I was in my room, hiding the wolfsbane. I had a secret hiding place in my closet. One that nobody knows about. I can't afford for anything else to go wrong.
I wanted to kill Jana with my bare hands for messing up everything so badly. I just meant for her to knock him out or something. She could have tied Ivan up and hid him somewhere until this was over and done. I didn't want her to kill anyone, as this put everyone in the coven and the pack on high alert. They even brought additional people in to help them look for Jana and Anika. Everything will be completely destroyed if they are found. I didn't even realize that my claws had extended into my hands until I felt the pain in my palms. I retracted my nails, and my wolf started to heal me.
I needed to go for a run. I work things out better when I go for a run. I headed out to the woods to strip down. I keep a plastic box with a lid out here for just such an occasion. I hate coming back and finding bugs in my clothes. It doesn't bother the guys much, as they just shake their basketball shorts out before putting them on. But we have much smaller clothing. The bugs don't shake out of them quite so easily.
I phased into my small brown wolf and headed toward the back of the pack. They are dismantling the wall at the back of the pack. We just acquired another great deal of land behind our pack. They are making the opening sixty feet wide, as they need to allow for large trucks to be able to get back there. With this expansion, new homes will be built back there. There is also talk of a new packhouse in a few more years. The new one is barely five years old, but our pack is growing very quickly. I am sure in ten years, we will need a new one.
I ran through the opening and headed to the lazy creek that cuts through the newly acquired area. It is probably more than a creek, as it is about thirty feet wide at its narrowest point. There was nothing flashy or distinctive about my wolf. She was just a dark brown color, but I was thankful for that now. I would blend right into the night if I needed to transform. If I had markings, I would be discovered quickly on review of the cameras. It was a matter of time before they knew how we got them out of there.
The cameras had motion sensors on them. Any movement could trigger an alarm. Thankfully, tree branches do it all the time. I had already bought a small paintball gun and some black paintballs. I will come out here Wednesday afternoon to mark the area that we will use. Since no one was allowed to leave the pack, no one would even see the mark until the next day. Jana knew how to get to where they would hide until eight p.m. when dusk fell. Brenna and her sisters were coming down around eight. They would not have tight security. They assumed that they would be safe in Black Adder. That was a mistake that they would live to regret.
It was too dangerous for them to come out of the woods until it was time for them to help me. They had the scent masking spray with them. I can't let them be found before we strike. The pack would be on high alert, and we wouldn't be able to get them out of here. I swam across the creek and laid down in the meadow on the other side of it to sun and think. I would go and rub myself on the trees in the area we were to meet.
I closed my eyes and grabbed a quick nap. I had run quite a lot today, and I was tired. I was not sleeping well these days as the closer to time it got, the more anxious I became. I was responsible for too much. The stress of it all was starting to get to me. Once we dealt with everyone and got Cara and her sisters into my vehicle, the hard part would be over. I was going to park in a blind spot and had everything marked out. We would put them in a large rolling laundry bin to get them to my car. No one could prove I had anything to do with this.
I needed the rest, and I enjoyed the freedom of not being watched. I felt like I was always being followed or observed all the time now. I chased a rabbit, grabbing lunch before returning to the pack. The swim back across the creek had me clean again. My wolf was telling me over and over again that this was a bad idea. I knew it was too, but it was too late now. She actually wanted her mate, but she couldn't lie and say that she didn't want to sleep with Jaxon and his wolf, Arc. She would be a liar if she disagreed.
I wish it were Tuesday, I wanted this to be over and done with soon. I was worried that the wolfsbane would be noticed as missing before I could use it. I was worried Jana and Anika would be found. I was worried that I would be caught. So many things can go wrong in the short amount of time we have. I was way too stressed out. I caught the scent of one of the warriors I like to mess around with nearby. He stood there in the woods in his wolf form. He was a mixture of light and dark grey in his fur, with a few patches of white and black. He stood there, letting me catch his scent, and the offer he sent me was clear. How could I turn it down? I didn't phase back, as I was on a timeline. We would allow our wolves to get theirs, too, this way. We went further back into a darker area before he pounced on me and held me still with his front paws as he slammed into me. I liked this both in my human form and my wolf form. It was more intimate in my wolf form, as he wouldn't just cum, and leave. His dick would swell, and we would be knotted together until it released. I kind of liked him being tied to me despite our not being mates.
lan was attractive and good in bed. He had brown hair and blue eyes in his human form and was friends with my brother. He was my go-to guy, and I appreciated him getting my mind off the upcoming kidnapping. I did feel bad for Cara and Luna, but not for Brenna. I hope she suffers at Paxton's hands. He knew that she was the ringleader in getting them out of Kamaria. She may be Rex's chosen mate, but she would heal from her punishment. I almost hoped Paxton would beat her to death in his anger. I don't want to take the chance of her ever coming back here again.
lan came hard and held me tighter with his front paws for about a minute before he got off to wait for the knot to come down between us. He knew that I was on birth control, so he didn't have any worries about me getting pregnant. I was never coming off birth control until I had a ranked wolf willing to mark me. Then, I would have pups for them. I keep praying to the Goddess that it will be Jaxon, but really, you can't go wrong with any of the ranked wolves. They are all hot. Hotter than anyone else in the pack.
Beta Chase is Jaxon's brother. Beta Blane is Stella and Truett, the former beta couple's child. Gamma Warrick and Delta Kendrick were Jaxon's cousins on his father's side. Gamma Robert is Alpha Kevin's brother and has lived here for several years with us. Gamma Atlas is also Jaxon's cousin on his mother's side. If I can't get Jaxon, I know that Chase, Warrick, Kendrik, and Atlas are all excellent choices for second place. Ian slid free of me and took off, not even acknowledging me at all anymore. That was the downside of being in this form. No kiss or goodbye, just running off. I headed to go grab my clothes. I needed to go finish my work, and then go grab a shower to get his scent off of me.
