Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape

Chapter 123 –

Robert's

POV

My heart stopped at seeing what Adra was willing to do to my mate and pup. I had never seen her act like this, but I am sure that I am seeing the 'real' Adra now. I almost ripped the door off its hinges as I ran out of the observation room and over to the interview room. Jaxon was shielding Saoirse from Adra, who was trying to claw her up with her nails. She was cutting his back as she kept lashing out. Gregory was trying to grab her, but she was out of control. Her anger pushed her over the edge.

Adra had been aiming for Saoirse's face in an attempt to destroy it. Adra is furious right now. I quickly pulled Adra back away from Jaxon and pushed her towards Gregory. All I could think of was getting to my mate and ensuring she and our pup were OK. I had already mindlinked the doctors to come and check on her and bring a portable ultrasound machine with them. I was terrified they had been hurt by Adra's attack.

"Saoirse, are you OK? Just stay calm, baby; everything will be fine. I am here, and I will take care of you. I already mindlinked the doctors and they are on the way here now. They will make sure that both of you are fine," I told Saoirse. I was trying to check her out for any visible injuries, but I couldn't stop myself from bringing her into my chest and holding her to me.

I closed my eyes and breathed in her sweet scent. I have missed her so much. I was so thankful to have her in my arms again. My sweet mate, I love her so much. Holding her allowed me to calm down a little. I kissed the top of her head and was glad to hear her say, "I am fine, Robert. I was already expecting Adra to try something. She hated getting called out. She was only trying to punish us by trying to take the baby. I made sure she didn't connect with my stomach."

I knew she wouldn't allow Adra to hurt our baby. I hugged Saoirse for a few more minutes, and I was glad to see that Chase had a hold of Adra, and her eyes now held a touch of madness. She laughed out loud as if this whole thing was funny to her; as soon as our eyes met, she said, "I hate you, Robert. I hope the baby dies and Saoirse rejects you. You caused me to lose everything, and now I wish the same for you."

I wanted to rip her head off and went to move towards her to do just that. She tried to hurt my mate, and Echo wanted to deal with her himself. I felt my mate's touch tingle on my arm before she said, "I will deal with her. Don't worry about it." "Anton, do you have a name for me?" Saoirse asked.

"I do. The witch who helped her is named Reyna. From what I saw, getting to her might not be easy. She works out of the back of her home, and that area is spelled to keep those who would hurt her out. I know how to get you there," Anton replied. "That is what I needed to know," Saoirse replied.

"You can't do that. She is going to be pissed. She will kill you for trying to approach her. She has her whole house spelled. You won't be able to get in," Adra spat out.

"Hey, thanks for the help, Adra. Now all I have to do is get her to come outside," Saoirse said and then winked at her.

Adra screamed in fury and tried to break away from Chase, but Blane grabbed her other arm to help hold her. I didn't want Saoirse to have to see her like this. Adra had snapped now that she knew I wouldn't stop her from getting punished. When she found out that I didn't love her, she no longer had to put up an act. This was the real Adra before us, screaming and crying about how unfair everything was for her.

"Do you want to leave the cells? They can deal with her if you want to go get checked out," I told her.

"Oh no, I am not leaving her until I have finished her. I am fine, Robert. I don't have any injuries. I will make sure that she can never return," she replied. I was proud of her but still wanted her to be checked out. I needed to know the baby was OK. I was glad that she didn't ask me how I knew. I mentioned that I had been in the observation room next door, so she probably assumed I knew from overhearing her speak. I didn't want her to get mad at Anton for telling me, especially now that she seemed OK with me holding her in my arms again.

"Chase, can you and Blane take her upstairs and to the training area? I want to get this over with. I have to visit her friend, Reyna, and deal with her too," Saoirse said.

Adra fought Chase and Blane out to the training area. Once we left the cell area, I saw Korey approaching with the other two members of Lena's group. They all looked scared to see Saoirse exiting the cell area behind Adra, who was still screaming threats and obscenities. Saoirse said she needed some additional room in order to deal with Adra and asked that we go all the way out to where she trains Cara.

I don't know what changed. I had no idea why Saoirse had suddenly decided to forgive me, but I was ecstatic she had. I am not going to mess up this opportunity, either. I learned my lesson. Saoirse has been around longer than I have, she knows more than me. I hope Chase and Jaxon realize that Lena and Adra had planned this. Chase's decision had almost cost me my mate, and I won't be letting that happen again. The cost of losing both my mate and my pup would have been too high. I doubt that I would have ever fully recovered from it. Adra was screaming all the way to the area that Saoirse asked us to go to. Adra's screams attracted a crowd, who decided to follow us. Wolves are known to be curious creatures. I see Korey, Anna, and Sandra still in the group following us. I don't know what Saoirse is planning, but I am positive that Adra's punishment will be memorable.

I already knew Saoirse knew what she was going to do to her. Adra fought Chase and Blane the whole time. I can tell that the pack members seemed scared of what Saoirse was about to do to Adra. I noticed that Saoirse was going to make Adra's death public, and I hope it will be quick. I was glad that no children were coming out here with us.

"You can let her go," Saoirse told Chase and Blane.

Adra tried to run, but her feet wouldn't move. She tried several times to get her powers to work, with Saoirse just standing there with a faint smile. After a few minutes Saoirse spoke, "Do you have any last words to say, Adra?"

"Yes! I hate you, and you have no reason to kill me. My plan didn't work, so it doesn't count. You don't deserve Robert. I pray that I am reincarnated so I can return and deal with you. Watch your back, bitch. Because one day, I will catch you by surprise. This isn't the end of things. Not by a long shot," Adra ranted.

"I assumed as much, Adra. You like to strike people from behind-that way, they never see you coming. You are a despicable coward, Adra. You haven't changed to the very end. Your punishment will be that you will never be allowed to come back. You are done, and before you ask, no, I don't feel sorry for you. Not at all," Saoirse stated coldly.

"What do you mean not be allowed to return? Sometimes, the Earth Mother allows us to return. You can't keep that from happening. You don't have that kind of control over me. That is your problem, Saoirse: all bark but no bite. I am not scared of you. I will return, and when I do. I will end you and any children that you and Robert have. Then he will be mine, and there is nothing that you can do to stop me. So do your worst. I am not afraid of you or what you want to do to me," Adra said, then laughed.

"Sometimes the Earth Mother does allow her people to return. Especially if our lives were cut short by things out of our control. She does that for those who have earned it, and you haven't. You see, I have a secret too, Adra. I tamped down my power. I hid it, as I knew you would be able to sense it when I arrived. Not sensing it gave you a false sense of security, which led to your thinking that I was a pushover. You really thought that you could take Robert from me. You were wrong from the start, and I will hide my power no longer," Saoirse told her. The next instant, a powerful force surrounded us. Forcing most of the pack members around us down to their knees. Even the ranked members had been moved, but not down to the ground. I was not aware that Saoirse was this powerful. Adra was knocked to the ground and couldn't lift her head, despite trying hard to do so. When Saoirse relented her power, Adra looked up in fear. She was terrified now.

"You are descended from the Earth Mother?" Adra asked quietly.

"I am. That is how I know that she will never give you another chance. She is disappointed in you, and I have been authorized to end both you and Reyna. I will end you both in the same way. You will get no second chances. You broke our laws, which she put in place to protect bonds. Earth Mother wants us to love and be loved. You deliberately tried to take that away from me. So you will suffer for what you have done," Saoirse proclaimed in front of the crowd.

Saoirse lifted Adra into the air. I guess she wanted everyone present to see what was about to happen. Adra never stopped screaming. She knew that this was her last hoorah before she died. I stood by Saoirse's side, with no sympathy for Adra. She brought this on herself. She left the pack in an attempt to destroy our bond. I wanted to hold Saoirse, but I didn't. I didn't want to distract her attention from what she was doing.

I watched as Saoirse twisted her hands into fists, bringing them towards her chest like she was crumbling up paper in each hand. Adra's cries ceased as her body exploded into what looked to be a thousand tiny pieces. Saoirse then opened her hands towards the small pieces floating in the air. We watched as they all caught fire and were blow around by the wind. Burning up all traces of Adra as the ashes floated gently to the ground. The silence around us was overwhelming as no one knew exactly what to say.
