Chapter 111 –
Jaxon's
POV
I knew that Saoirse was stalling for the Council to get here. I know she is trying to fix things for Rex, but I needed to get back to my mate. I know everyone is suddenly pitying Rex, but not me. He loves Brenna, and you can tell that he still does. I know Paxton had assured Alexei that he would never pursue Cara again. Anton had verified it for him, but I need them to do the same for Rex. He needs to step away from Brenna, too. If Anton says anything other than Rex is giving up on her, they won't have to worry about punishment for him. I will kill him myself. Brenna is pregnant with my pup. I won't allow anything else to happen to her. I can't believe she has become my whole world in such a short time. The moment I saw her, our bond snapped into place and I love her more than anyone else. I cannot imagine my life without her in it. I look forward to our little family growing to three. I wanted to talk to her about how many children she wanted. I won't make her feel like she needs to have as many as my parents did. I want her to choose the number she wants and then give her how many she chooses. I would do anything for Brenna.
I am not looking forward to dealing with the mess Adra caused when I get back to Black Adder. I honestly think Lena was the only mole in the pack, but I am not entirely sure. I will also make sure that I speak to Lena's friends and her family. I had linked one of the warriors last night to come and get her body from the airstrip. She was a member of the pack, and her family will want to lay her to rest. I would have let her rot out in the field for what she did if it were up to me.
Rex could have sexually assaulted my mate. Lena didn't care about what would happen to my mate at all. She also didn't care that my mother, brother, and two of my sisters were physically assaulted in her plan. So many members of my family, of my pack, were hurt for no reason. All because Lena wanted to be my chosen mate. Which was crazy, as she knew I only wanted my true mate. I was not going to give up Brenna for any reason.
I was ashamed that something like this had happened in my pack. It made me look bad to my pack members and other Alphas. I knew I needed to nip this right now, as I would not allow our pack to look bad. It was one or two bad apples, and I was going to make sure everything we eased up, like training at least six times a week, was going right back in place. What Lena had done had shown that the policies my parents had put in place before I was born needed to be upheld.
My mother was bullied, and she started an anti-bullying policy in Black Adder. Lena had been a bully, but some of her actions got swept under the rug out of respect for her parents. I can't, no, correct that. I won't allow it to happen again. I mentally made a list of what I wanted to accomplish when we returned to the pack this afternoon. I won't stand for any bullying to continue to happen. I should have crushed Lena when she tried to confront Brenna. I know Brenna wanted to deal with her on her own. No one could have predicted how far Lena would go over such a small interaction.
I was glad to see a vehicle pull up and a group of three get out and walk over to us. Two men and a woman had exited the vehicle. They walked over to us, watching the people arguing on the other side of the gate. It was a wrought iron gate, so we could see and hear exactly what was happening. They were quiet for a little while, watching the show before turning to me and Kevin and asking, "Who are you, and what is going on here?"
"My name is Jaxon Adams-Evans, current Alpha of the Black Adder pack," I started to tell them when the oldest male in the group stopped me. "Hang on a second. Why are you even here? You are well away from your pack," The council member, who identified himself as Charles, asked me.
"Paxton and his ranked wolves killed former Beta James in a vehicle accident that they caused. They did it to take my mate away from me. This is Kevin Roberts, Alpha of the Black Moon pack, and that is Alexei Fedorov," I motioned to each of them as I spoke. "They took our mates, who were all marked by using a member of my pack, and two vampires to abduct them from Black Adder." I continued, telling them the whole story.
It was clear that they were intimidated by the vampires present. When he discovered that witches were also involved, he ran his fingers through his hair. I was waiting for the words I knew he would say. He was trying to be diplomatic to me. But it was apparent that he was getting more and more frustrated. He finally asked, "Why are you here? You should have started with the high court council near your pack. You jumped the gun in coming here."
Trevor quickly moved forward to step between me and Charles as he knew I would take matters into my own hands. "You are incorrect. You need to call your counterparts at the high court. Ask to speak to Council Members Glenn Floyd and Gary Sharp. They were warned when Paxton and his men came to my pack to try to abduct the women the first time. I warned them, and told them to tell Paxton if he tried anything else, it would lead to war. Now let me ask you this, Charles. If this were your true mate, would you leave her alone with men who have already shown more than an interest in her? Are we supposed to wait for them to rape them before we are allowed to step forward?" I asked with venom dripping with each word.
"We were not going to be waiting for them to come to their senses. They have gone too far, and if we go to war, Black Moon will come with Black Adder. They took my Luna as well. There are laws in place already protecting our mates from this very thing, yet you start by defending the criminals. They have murdered two innocent people and abducted three mated women, yet you are acting like we are in the wrong here?" Kevin asked. We all stood there in disbelief. Incredulous at how they had started speaking to us. They heard the story yet defended their local Alpha. That was the wrong answer.
Trevor quickly said, "The high council is aware of Jaxon's warning. They, in turn, warned Paxton and his men. You need to go and call them about this before it escalates even more than it has already. It would be best if you did that quickly, as things are getting worse in there now. They have already rescued the two Luna's. They are safe and back in Black Adder, thanks to Saoirse. The ones in there now can all get out quickly if necessary. You also need a reminder of the laws in place if you think they should have just started wringing their hands in worry and not doing anything to get them back. The men who took them already have sexual assault on them. Beta Clay assaulted the young woman near Luna Lisa. I know this is short notice, but you three need to follow the laws you swore to uphold. You need to do what is right with this. If war is declared, it won't just be their packs involved, but my pack, Blood Tracker, will also be stepping in, as will Blood Walker pack."
The more packs were named, the more upset they became. Both men were marked, so they should understand how we feel about our mates being taken. Two men and a woman had been sent out here to see what was happening. I didn't know who had called them, but the council had been needed. They needed to find a way for us to rest easy. I doubted that they would give up on wanting our mates. I didn't trust them, no matter what they were saying.
"Paxton has already admitted to what had happened. One of you can stay here and listen to what is being said. But this whole thing is being recorded. Just in case it needs to be used in a trial. Paxton has also advised that he will be leaving Cara alone. We need Rex to advise that he will be doing that as well, as far as my mate, Brenna, is concerned. If he attempts to abduct her again, make no mistake about it, I will kill him on the spot," I told them.
The two men walked away and got on their cell phones. The woman, who said her name was Phillipa, stayed at the gate to listen to what was being said. I could see the shock on her face as secrets were exposed. I could see that she was focused on Rex, more than Paxton. But it didn't matter who she was looking at as long as she was listening to what was being said. We would still have the proof of what had happened today with us. Paxton had already admitted to what he and they had done. There was no escaping punishment for it. The voices got louder as Lisa's mother was pissed now. It looked like she wanted to rip Saoirse's head off. She managed to tamper it back down, but she was not above attacking Saoirse when her back was turned. I knew Saoirse knew it, and it seemed like she was spoiling for a fight herself. Which reminded me again that we still have to deal with Adra when we return. I already know that it is not going to go well. I felt bad for Robert. He didn't have any ill intentions when he went to Adra's home with Chase. He honestly thought that if Adra came onto him, he would just shoot her down like he always did. He never thought that she would do what she did to him. I am sure that he does now. I am also sure he knew she was missing, as I had told him where we were when he linked me earlier.
We are all very new to having mates. When I spoke to them last night before we left, I could tell from my mother's and Cheryl's expressions that this would not go well for Robert. I was going to ask Brenna why but I was waiting for a little while. Everyone was kind of upset about it for Saoirse. I hope that she and Robert can work through it, but anyone could see that she is pissed. I have never seen her like this before, although I can admit that we haven't known her for long. I hope she can give Robert a fair chance to explain himself to her. I would hate for him to lose her right after he found her. I know he wanted a mate as badly as I did. I know he will fight for her, but has he hurt her too much for her to fight for him as well?
