Benson

Chapter Benson 52

Chapter 52 Silent Pain

Benson stood there, allowing Marcus’s punches to rain down on him. He didn’t fight back. but his expression grew darker, clearly reaching the limit of his patience.

Marcus lost in his anger and disappointment, seemed oblivious to this. His punches continued without stopping.

Finally, Benson’s patience ran out. His eyes turned cold, and he swiftly retaliated.

Fighting wasn’t Marcus’s strong suit, and it didn’t take long for Benson to pin him to the ground

Benson’s voice was cold and decisive: “Now that you know, give up. Stay in Las Vegas and keep your feelings to yourself. If you can’t, go abroad for a couple of years.”

Marcus’s face pressed against the cold grass, filled with defiance and rage. He gritted his teeth and responded, “Benson, you’re a bastard. You trample on her feelings. You’ll get your comeuppance.”

Benson sneered, replying, “I don’t know about comeuppance, but I know she won’t be happy. That night you knocked on the car window, she begged me to find a way to send you away.”

These words cut Marcus like a knife, filling him with pain and despair,

Enraged like a wild beast, Marcus broke free from Benson’s grip, and the two men’s emotions erupted like a volcano, leading to a fierce physical struggle on the grass.

Their figures intertwined on the green, fists and shouts mingling as they tried to vent all their grievances and dissatisfaction through this brawl,

William watched coldly from the side, a mocking smile on his lips. He let out a disdainful hmph.”

Mockingly, he said, “Look at this, our most well–mannered gentleman from high society. Benson, now brawling like a commoner. If someone captured this scene and posted it online, it would definitely cause a stir.”

Matthew shook his head and sighed, his tone carrying a hint of disdain, “All this just to satisfy a momentary desire? To provoke others to such an extent? It’s incomprehensible.”

Yvonne was having lunch with her friend Bella at a cozy restaurant, their conversation tinged with tension and unease.

Bella furrowed her brows and leaned closer to Yvonne, whispering, “Could it be Mary?”

Yvonne paused, then shook her head, “I don’t think so. Benson’s darling, she knew about her existence. They’ve been fine for the past three years, and now suddenly this? It doesn’t make sense.

Bella was unconvinced, her tone firm, “If not her, then who? You’ve been in business for years, always leaving room for maneuver. Even though some men have said nasty things, nothing this vile has happened before.”

Yvonne sighed. She knew Bella’s suspicion wasn’t baseless, but she still hoped the truth was different.

Changing the topic, she said, “Still investigating, don’t speculate. By the way, the brooch I mentioned last time, no damage at all, it might have been taken. Have any other jewelry or paintings appeared in the market?”

Bella thought for a moment and replied, “Uncle John hasn’t reported anything yet, but the pendant Benson gave you has surfaced. Someone tried to sell it.”

Yvonne felt a chill run through her. The items she thought had perished in the fire, were they really taken by someone else?

Her mind was filled with doubt and unease.

Suddenly, Yvonne’s phone rang. She hurriedly answered, and the shocking news on the other end: Marcus and Benson had fought fiercely, both injured and rushed to the hospital. The news hit like a thunderbolt, instantly ruining Yvonne and Bella’s appetite.

They quickly put down their utensils, exchanged grave looks, and immediately headed to the hospital.

Yvonne and Bella hurried into the hospital’s emergency room, and the scene before them made Yvonne’s heart sink.

Benson’s down vest was covered in dirt, looking particularly disheveled, while Marcus had grass clinging to him, evidence of a fierce struggle on the grass.

Both had visible injuries on their faces–Benson’s mouth swollen, Marcus’s left eye bruised -both looked miserable.

Marcus hung his head, and when Yvonne appeared in his line of sight, his lips moved as if to speak but ultimately chose silence, lowering his head again.

Yvonne felt a surge of indescribable emotion She knew Marcus had learned things she didn’t want him to know.

Her gaze lingered on Benson for a moment before she moved toward Marcus.

Her steps were heavy, each one feeling like crossing an emotional barrier.

Standing in front of Marcus, fer voice trembled slightly as she softly asked, “Are you okay?” Marcus nodded, his eyes filled with deep pain, as if all his suffering was written on his face. Yvonne felt a wave of guilt, her voice low and apologetic, “I’m sorry, Marcus.”

Marcus’s eyes reddened, his gaze locked on Yvonne’s face, and he forced

than crying, “What did you do wrong?” His voice carried a mix of helplessness and bitterness.

“It seems like nothing, but I hurt you.” Yvonne’s voice was filled with remorse and powerlessness.

They stood by the bench, Yvonne looking down slightly, her eyes glistening with tears; Marcus looking up slightly, his gaze full of complex emotions.

Their eyes met, and it felt as if time stood still, with all the surrounding noise fading away, leaving only their breaths and heartbeats.

In this moment, they seemed to be in a world of their own, where words were unnecessary and explanations were powerless.

The nurse was diligently tending to Benson’s wounds, but Benson impatiently brushed her hand away, his voice commanding, “Come here

Yvonne’s heart was full of resistance. She thought yesterday’s turmoil had settled, but Benson had revealed the secret she tried so hard to keep from Marcus, this betrayal filling her with anger and helplessness.

Yvonne hesitated, but ultimately couldn’t ignore Benson’s call.

Marcus saw Yvonne’s struggle and softly urged, “Go ahead, Yvonne. If you upset him, you’ll be the one to suffer.”

His voice was filled with resignation and weariness. He knew his presence no longer brought Yvonne any help; even seeing her felt like a mistake.

Marcus lowered his eyes, filled with a sense of powerlessness.

He knew he couldn’t take Yvonne away, nor help her escape this unhappy marriage.

His presence only complicated things further, making Yvonne’s situation more difficult.

He took a deep breath, trying to control his emotions, then slowly turned around and walked in the opposite direction from Yvonne.

He knew this was the only thing he could do for Yvonne.
