Chapter Benson 49
Chapter 49 Misunderstandings and Exhaustion
Yvonne stood at the edge of the wind, letting the night breeze gently caress her hair. Her eyes followed Marcus’s car until it completely disappeared into the night.
Her feelings were mixed; she felt a sense of relief but also reluctance. She knew that after this farewell, it was uncertain when they would meet again.
Slowly turning around, her gaze accidentally swept across the hotel’s floor–to–ceiling window and saw Benson’s silhouette.
He stood by the fish pond, holding fish food, intently feeding the fish. He wasn’t wearing his jacket, and his black shirt clung to his body, outlining his tall figure. Even in such a casual setting, he still exuded an irresistible charm.
Yvonne took a deep breath and decided to face whatever was coming.
She walked back, quietly standing behind Benson without saying a word.
She knew that by deciding to come here, she was ready to face his “punishment.”
Benson seemed to sense her presence. He turned around and saw Yvonne looking up, her face displaying a “ready for anything” expression that made him chuckle softly.
“You know I’d be angry seeing you with Marcus, yet you dare do it again!” His voice held a hint of helplessness, but more so, it was indulgent.
Yvonne didn’t argue. She knew that no matter what she said, Benson wouldn’t easily believe her.
Her demeanor reminded Benson of the time when Maria had broken her brooch.
Back then, he had hoped she would explain, but Yvonne chose silence, believing Benson would side with Maria and let him “misunderstand” her.
Benson finished scattering the fish food, clapped his hands as if to clear his mind, and said, “Let’s go home.” His voice was calm, without the anger and questioning Yvonne had expected.
Yvonne was stunned; she hadn’t expected everything to end just like that.
There were no sarcastic remarks, no intense questioning, not even the punishment she had imagined.
She felt a bit awkward due to the huge gap between her expectations and reality.
Benson seemed to read her thoughts. He said lightly, “All those things you’re thinking, I’m tired of doing them.” His tone revealed a sense of exhaustion, perhaps from the suspicion and misunderstanding.

Bensons brow furrowed and a wave of indescribable doubt rose in his heart
Refecting on ns caiy life ne realed he had never actively inquired about Yvonne’s stuation, making Seorge’s words especially grating
He couldn’t reb but ask himself. Do I really care about her?
However this self–doubt was quickly replaced by his displeasure with George
He fet George was overstepping by meddling too much in his and Yvonne’s personal matien making him uncomfortable.
He gave George à cold glance.
Throughout the journey, George kept reporting Benson’s recent activities to Yvonne–what he ate, drank, when he slept, sparing no detail.
Yvonne felt suffocated. She had originally thought she could have some peace at home, but George’s words made her even more irritated.
Back home, Maria was thrilled to see Benson return.
Taking advantage of Benson’s time in the shower, she pulled Yvonne aside, advising her to seize the opportunity to get closer to Benson.
She believed the supplements she had been making hadn’t gone to waste and hoped Yvonne would make good use of this chance.
However, Yvonne didn’t follow Maria’s advice and chose to return to the guest room.
She didn’t believe that just because of one night of intimacy, Benson’s attitude toward her would change and that they would start living a good life together..
Yvonne curled up on the couch in her room, holding a book that she couldn’t seem to focus
- on.
After his shower, Benson naturally lifted the blanket and got into bed.
Yvonne’s breath hitched; she didn’t want to be intimate with Benson while awake.
She felt the “harmony” between them was so brief it was almost negligible, which couldn’t offset the “gap” between them.
Yvonne quietly sat at the edge of the bed her heart beating unusually fast, as if she could hear her own heartbeat echoing in the quiet night.
She didn’t move or speak, just silently observing Benson.
Benson didn’t rush her either. He leaned against the headboard, focused on his phone, seemingly handling work matters.
His profile, illuminated by the soft glow of his phone, appeared especially focused and calm.
Time ticked by, and at eleven o’clock, Yvonne knew that no matter how much she procrastinated, it was time to rest.
She took a deep breath and slowly lay down on the bed. Benson seemed to sense her movement and gently reached out to turn off her side lamp.
The room was instantly plunged into complete darkness.
In this darkness, Yvonne felt an inexplicable sense of security, as if all her worries and anxieties were swallowed by it.
She closed her eyes, trying to calm her emotions.
mitandings and Exhaustion
However, just then, she felt a warm hand gently wrap around her waist.
Her body slightly trembled, and her heartbeat sped up uncontrollably.
Benson’s movements were gentle, his lips slowly pressing against hers.
The kiss wasn’t passionate but filled with tenderness and exploration.
Yvonne felt her toes curl involuntarily, her body becoming exceptionally sensitive under Benson’s touch.
She could feel Benson’s breath
His breath brushed gently across her cheek, bringing an indescribable sense of intimacy.
